In general, not a good idea. It's looked at as double dipping.

What resources would you suggest for a DNP FNP graduate that wants to start a not for profit faith based clinic?

You are still going to need to act as if it's any other practice you are starting. All the pieces need to be there. It is your mission that will be different. If you have not already, on our blog at NPBusiness.ORG you'll find a mindmap that you can download that shows you different aspects of what you'll want to put in place. You'll also be able to get on our list and keep up to date with resources, articles and videos as they are available. Thanks for watching and asking the quesiton!

Do you know what type of NP degree I would need to get to open up a cosmetic salon? Such as a Botox/juvederm etc salon? Thanks!

Rachel, it is going to depend on your state scope of practice. There is not a degree program for NPs and cosmetic/derm specialties. Many are FNP or Adult NPs. You'll also want to be able to document appropriate training. Good luck!

Hi there, I have been doing so much research, but I am having a hard time deciding which NP program will allow me to consider opening a retail establishment like a wellness center. I do understand that it is based on the states scope of practice and policies where I decide to pursue this business. However, would I do FNP or AGPCNP. Thats where I am struggling. I am hoping you can help. Thank you=)

After graduation as an FNP , when is the right time to start my practice.

That depends on the individual. It really is about you, how much experience you are able to get as an NP, your niche areas, etc. It will differ from person to person. If I was to give it a #, I'd say for the NP who has plenty of experience as an RN first, to give it 3-5 years minimum. But again, it depends.

So sorry, I am just seeing this. It really depends on what you want to do, and what your state rules/SOP allow you to do. Many will do case management, consulting, education, advocacy, etc.

It's hard to say, look at your state rules. In many states, in order to practice midwifery, you must be a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). You'll need to do the research to see if legally you can and then the research of what it will take.
