  • There's a lot to consider when starting a nurse practitioner business/practice. Let's address some of those things here.
    Here are the links I mentioned in the video, for more information about starting a practice.

    This is fantastic! I'm in the Holistic Health Industry and struggle to find any business education beyond marketing. So, I have gleaned education from other industries and stumbled on this video which is so wonderful! Thank you!

    Absolutely. Frustrated and heartbroken by seeing this people promising their help and at the end nothing is done.

    Hi Barbara, your video on NPs starting a business was very informative. I am an FNP. I am an advanced public health nurse too. I am in occupational health. I want to open an occupational health-based business. Do you have any business ideas?

    • @NPBusiness
      @NPBusiness  3 роки тому +3

      Plenty of NPs work in occupational health with their own practice. The most important thing I can say is to begin to put the idea on paper. Do some research. How can you make it work? Where will you find your patients? Who will pay you? What would your overhead be to start and then ongoing? How many patients will you need to see per day to cover cost? How many patients would you need to see to see a profit? Good luck!

    Love this. Am a new FNP with approximately 20 years of experience. My first Masters was an MPH, 6 years ago. I am currently doing some research on a private practice that i can run while also keeping my current position as faculty. Am interested in EHR and EMR suggestions. Do you have any?

      You are not alone in that endeavor! EHR/EMR? My best recommendation is to make a list of what you really need (you may not need all the bells and whistles), what you'd like to have, and no-gos/dealbreakers. Then look at your budget. That will take several out of consideration. From there you can start trialing/sampling. Don't be swayed by things you don't need. It's an individual choice, so take your time to find one that works FOR you. Good luck!

    I just stumbled upon your channel. I am the vendor of a new EMR/EHR. How can I get nurse practitioners to know about my new and affordable medical app?

      Ebony, the two policy and procedure books (with templates) I recommend are listed on this page - www.clinicianbusinessinstitute.com/recommendations

    Hi Barbara I am a Competent RN. I am studying business partime as I would like to eventually open up my own medical practice. I know I am need to complete my postgrad cert, postgrad diploma amd finally do my masters. Would you say its benedicial that I complete my partime business studies so that I will already have this under my belt or should I just leave it and stydy it once I have finished my Masters to become a nurse practitioner? Thanks

      Studying business is never a bad idea, even for those who remain employed. Understanding your own finances and how you currently manage your money (the business of your household for example) is extremely important. Equally important is understanding the business of healthcare, which of course reimbursement (a constantly moving target) is also important to understand. Best wishes with your studies!

    What happens when a student has graduated for 2 years, and unable to secure employment/volunteer work.?

    • @NPBusiness
      @NPBusiness  3 роки тому +4

      If I was having a hard time finding a job, I would work with a recruiter and be flexible enough for that first job. In the meantime, I'd keep current with plenty of continuing education, and I might see if I can find a place to volunteer or even find a mentor I could shadow in order to keep learning. I would NOT start a business as a new grad.

    I am considering starting my own private nursing business,I have 2 years work experience with an associate degree. Do you think am qualified enough to start?

      This is a great question, but it's difficult for me to answer based just on the information you've shared here. What is the experience and what do you want to do in your business? What kind of business education/preparation have you done? I'd need to know more to answer that question, and I applaud you for asking it!
