    This is a great "real world," test. Every morning when I get to the job-site I connect my drill to another drill and run them against each other at full power. The one that doesn't catch fire gets used that day.

    In my experience, electricians always use Milwaukee, and framers use DeWalt.

      99.9% of our plumbing power tools in my shop are Milwaukee, if only Dewalt specialized in more than just drilling & cutting they would be on top, build quality & power are superior on my personal dewalt xr 20v brushless hammer/drill versus my company supplied Milwaukee Fuel hammer/drill, I dont bother with the Milwaukee drill unless my dewalt batteries need a charge lol

Got a Milwaukee for a variety of home projects and it worked great. and as a side note, i left the rechargeable battery out for about 3 weeks and plugged it back in and it still had nearly its full charge when i had to knock some holes in the wall to run some cables. Love it and it works exactly for what i needed it for, i kinda go out of my way to find reasons to use it now. Great buy, highly reccomend.

    I have nearly every brand and price point of drill, and for the value I think Rigid makes a very solid, compact, entry level cordless drill. I personally like & use the Fuego set. DeWalts are good, but the Milwaukee vs Rigid for impacts are nearly the same apart for the trigger. The Milwaukee had a little more control and a slightly better feel. Look around at Home Depot and see what you like. Oh yeah by the way, DeWalts are smokers.

    I don't think it's an apples-to-apples comparison. $150 will buy a brushless Dewalt drill, which includes a better chuck (more in line with what the Milwaukee uses). I'd be interested in seeing a comparison of those two. In short, if you're going to set the price bar at $150, then there is a better Dewalt drill to be compared.

      stuff I wouldn't agree, dewalt can just as easily charge just as much as the Milwaukee and add the nicer features. These are both of there cheapest lithium ion drills. There both the lowest end drills you can get from the either company. I think it's a fair comparison. What I don't think would be fair is if you went the next tear up on the dewalt and still used the bottom of the line Milwaukee.

    • @stellarpod
      @stellarpod 7 років тому +33

      Alec Ver Bunker, in the real world, price versus performance should be the consideration, i.e. value. I'm simply suggesting that if you take the Dewalt (or any other brand) that most closely aligns with the Milwaukee price, then Dewalt may indeed give more bang for the buck. On the other hand, it may smoke too.

    I used to work in construction dealing with a lot of concrete work and sometimes redo a lot of concrete with metal framing. Dewalt works pretty good is decent but doesn't last long. I switch to milwaukee because i got a deal on home depot and last me years was suprised how much it held up and battery life was great.

    I have had a lot of experience with both lines of these tools. Went a lot of years with Milwaukee and after about 1 1/2 years all the Milwaukee's were going down hill so i decided to try the cheaper De Walt. Very similar service up to the 6 month period but after that it was down hill pretty quick. We normally had our tools repaired at Home Depot but the big difference was the time it took to get them repaired. The De Walt had to go back to the factory. I think either would be good for the average do-it yourselfer but in a commercial setting the Milwaukee wins out.
    I enjoy your videos and they spark a lot of ideas for me, keep up the good work.

    15 years ago I bought a Milwaukee 2601-20 and it worked like a champ. I added the M105.0 5AMP HOUR battery when it became available and this created a monster of a tool. It is actually a little too much battery for this drill as you could overheat the drill if not careful Despite quite a lot of abuse, it still works like a champ to this day. I recently added a hammer drill, the Milwaukee 2804-20. They claim better technology, including limiting circuits to protect the drill. Sure enough, the drill will cut out on me before it is allowed to heat up and the end effect is that it is actually less powerful than the old drill. I reserve it for the hammer drill function which is a must when drilling into concrete. I have no reason to even consider another brand. That being said, regarding DeWalt, My dad bought a DeWalt radial arm saw back in 1964 for building boats, and it is still in service today in my garage. This is long after similar craftsman saws have rusted away.

    • @joeenger352
      @joeenger352 2 роки тому

      I don’t know if you can really say they rusted away as a form of how good the tool is being that a radial arm saw rusting out is really more of a user error then how good the tool is.

    I've been to a couple of construction industry shows, and without fail dewalt and milwaukee both have booths to show off and compare their tools, the newest generation of brushless lithium ion tools from both companies are pretty good, but milwaukee's tools always outlast in the torture and power tests, as my portercable and dewalt tools slowly die out I've been slowly converting over to the milwaukee fuel system and I love it. As a side note, you might want to double check the box, because milwaukee usually ships belt clips for their drills packaged with the instruction manual.

      I was all Dewalt until a few years ago. My dewalts were dying, so I decided to give Milwaukee a try. I use these tools heavily, daily as a handyman. I would NEVER go back. Milwaukee is a far better tool. Might be more expensive, but when they earn your living, quality is far more important than initial price. I currently have 3 sets of drivers, sawzall, 7 1/4 circular saw, and some of the little sawzalls for cutting out sheetrock. I have no complaints except that occasionally I have to double pull the trigger on the impacts to get them to drive at full power.

    • @Drago297
      @Drago297 2 роки тому +1

      Lol true, however, depending on your trade, skill level, length of jobs, access to working outlets, ect. the Milwaukee (IMO) is indeed the superior drill, impactor, Sawzall, hackzall, angle drill, and most anything else that they both make. I'm a licensed plumber in Illinois and after my very first set of power tools (which were a very basic set of Bosch, which surprisingly to even myself, were and still are good tools. Outdated for sure, but I still have them in my shop and pull them out from time to time to avoid running back and forth to my truck for my Milwaukee set) I "bit the bullet", financially speaking, and got myself the best set of battery tools I've ever had the pleasure of using. Milwaukee seems to be top of the line for almost every single tool that I've ever compared on the job site. I use them every single day and they are put through some extraordinary stressful use and to top it off they are also used in less than ideal environments (i.e. wet, dirty, sandy, freezing temperatures, ect.). My advise for anyone in the plumbing industry would be to go red. You are correct that typically speaking DeWalt will get the job done 90% of the time, but when you aren't able to that one time you will be extremely upset you didn't spend the extra loot. DeWalt seems to be the "Maintenance mans" brand or carpenters that work in much cleaner environments like shop work or new build scenarios, again this is only my observations. Ill never go to any other brand as long as I live. Good luck out there regardless. Stay safe and make your money. Stay blessed.

      Marketing. They all use lithium 18650 battery cells in series. Lithium batteries have a working voltage range between 3.7 and 4.2v. One manufacturer lists ~5x the lowest voltage, the other approximates 5x the maximum voltage. Theoretically these batteries both work between about 18.5 and 21 volts in a charged vs discharged state. In the real world it's slightly less. That's why they give 18 and 20v figures. Fyi, laptops and tesla both use these 18650 cells as well. At least for now.

    How about an actual torque torture test on these drills? Put in some large fasteners, drill some large holes....? Just going chuck to chuck with these really isn't a good test because both are designed to "lock" when not turning, the reason the Milwaukee isn't hot is because it wasn't doing anything.

    A good, helpful 'real world' test would include drops from a ladder, running the drill covered in sheetrock dust or dirt, leave it in the truck bed during a rainstorm and see if it works, see how many holes you can bore or screws you can drive before the battery runs out, then test how long it takes to charge the battery. Face it, your 'see which one burns out first' tests would get you kicked off a jobsite...

      True. I've abused both DeWalt and Milwaukee. 1 year from the DeWalt and 5 years and counting for the Milwaukee.

      Person. Your English is a disgrace just as you're a disgrace to the English race. Your family tree, is actually a spider web.

      Also how about both of you quit criticizing each other's English before yours is correct.

      Person. Also what the hell is with your response about black people killing people even though Europeans were the ones who took over Africa and forced them into slavery whilst torturing and killing the ones who misbehaved.
      Sounds like someone needs a bit of a history lesson hmm?

    In dewalts defense I’ve seen guys at work smoke em up and set outside in 15 below MN winter and ready to use in 45 minutes(roughly). I’ve gotten them hot but not smoking. I bought Milwaukee for home use and I very rarely get them as hot.

    The worst thing about this comparison is the huge difference in the value of the drill. The dewalt costs about £35 as a bare tool, with the batteries etc making up the rest of the cost. The Milwaukee is worth about £70 as a bare tool, so you're looking at twice the drill.
    Something like a dewalt dcd796 can be bought as a kit for $150 and is one of the best compact drills on the market

      jamdoginc and that 796 would have been a much more appropriate comparison.

      @Cuckada no, it's the problem of the company who hires them,You see all the techniques, materials and technologies are the same
      If those companies pay more to the chinese, the chinese can still do the same high quality you wanted
      It's just because most products are made from china, the number of bad quality is ofc more while you dont commonly see products are made from other country.
      Besides, the whole world's product supply relies on china, what do you expect
