Donald "Don" Frye (born November 23, 1965)
vs
Mark Daniel Coleman (born December 20, 1964)
The Predator vs The Hammer :)
Man they loved Frye in Japan. He was like a stereotypical American anime character come to life lol
That is probably the cleanest description of Don Frye that I have ever heard, in my life. Ever!
He was their villain and they treated him nice
@@mclovinjr3242 everyone loves a good villain
Right? Lmao big, stupid and hairy
He is Haggar from Final Fight
Great to see that level of sportsmanship and respect for each other
Don Frye. Although he may have lost this match, he is the only man alive, who's mustache could actually do all the fighting for him! Respect!
His best are, Dan Severn too, tbf
Your stupid humor ruined the fight by saying who won... and you're not funny at all,so there's that 😅
caterpillar of death
True.
That's a good man 😂
That reaction for Frye was amazing. Japanese mma fans are the best.
Kinda funny how the whole samurai spirit thing was probably the last thing on Frye's mind while he was in Japan but it ended up being exactly why they fell in love with him. Toughing out that heel hook against Shamrock and the chaotic slugfest with sexyama are as Yamato Damashii as it gets.
2 legends. I think Coleman was at his best in PRIDE. The GP 2000 and when he came back. He moved great and fought smart. A monstrous wrestler.
That was Colemans best and his claim to fame. Pride GP 2000.
@@billj4525 I think 2004 Coleman beats the 2000 version. He is more skilled, has great stamina, and is very, very motivated. I think the Coleman Fedor faced was his best version. The way he moves is incredible.
Testosterone tested positive for high levels of Don Frye's mustache.
Coleman was a really good fighter.
Frye is as well but the two of them stack up so well its a vicious battle.
The feint into shot at 14:10 is honestly the cleanest thing I’ve ever seen in any combat sport or even video game
Frye did an excellent job sprawling on those double legs by Mark. He got that last one by throwing the left hook and getting Don worries about getting clipped. Any wrestling coach will tell you to not ahoot from so far away but Mark is such an incredible athlete and wrestler he could get away with in almost all of his fights.
Don fríe es increíble, Mark no pudo comérselo vivo, aún estando en el suelo batalló. Si alguien que no viera la pelea y ve el estado en que quedó cada uno diría ganó Don frey. Solo miren el ojo de Mark coleman
@@CruzRamonDiaz not to mention busted mouth lol
Coleman was one of the greatest mma wrestlers of all time. He took down everyone he fought even when he was ancient.
Except he couldn’t get cro cop down.
@@oldironsides4107 Yeah did you see how Mark was repeating the same double leg shot without setting it up against CroCop?. Mark may have been able to get away with that a few years earlier. However in wrestling they always tell us not to shoot unless you can first touch your opponent. Also to chain different attempts together. From that far you shoot a single then switch to a double back and forth or to a high crotch. Not making excuses for Mark, Mirko was the better fighter. It just surprised me Mark went for the same shot repeatedly when it didn't work the first 3 times.
I think about this fight almost as much as I think about the Roman Empire.
It is mind blowing when you think of how everything has changed sooo much since the 90's. MMA really displays that change. Millions of new facets of change in a day. I see them over time not noticing as I go about my days but every time. Skateboarding is another crazy one, football, any sport the bar keeps getting pushed
I had no idea don frye had fought a 20 minute match and 5 minutes later faced colman what an absolute warrior
Don Frey is a real American bad ass
It was at UFC 10
he likes men too
These fighters was real fighters not some of them today like Habib and other from Tsetsenia.
habib would take frye down and submit him. frye never beat a good fighter in his career.@@ΙΩΑΝΝΗΣΙΩΑΝΝΗΣ-σ5ξ
Coleman was such a beast of a wrestler... So was his training partner RIP Kevin Randleman. Don Frye was no joke either.
Coleman doesn’t always get the credit he deserves. He was probably the best heavyweight in the world at one point.
@@yankees29 yep he sure was... I believe so.
As far as Kevin goes I can guarantee you he earned Mark’s respect through hard work and dedication. Mark wasn’t someone that handed out praise to just anyone. RIP Kevin
@@yankees29 yeah, Kevin was really good at one time... Former UFC champion. I remember seeing his staph infection and being amazed he survived that.
@@johnnyj6718 dude that was so nasty.I went to high school with Baroni and at one point he hung out with those guys. He had nothing bad to say about them.
I grew up watching these two guys in UFC but can we get some LOVE FOR THAT POUR FROM BAS RUTTEN!! El Guapo has a "pour game"!!🍺🍺💯🥇🏆🍺🍺
I hope these guys are freindly these days. Both the best warriors and genuinely nice guys.
Yes they are friends and they comment eachother’s posts in Instagram.
Don and Mark had similar skill sets. Mark was always the better wrestler between the two and that was the difference in this fight. Classic
And waaay stronger than Frye.
He was a better wrestler that was the difference Gary goodnight was way stronger than Frye but Frye beat his ass Everytime except the last fight
The first fight Coleman was way stronger, but they both are roided out of their minds here and are very comparable in terms of strength. Coleman is an olympic wrestler and that was the difference.@@alexscott730
Frye has a back belt in judo with professional boxing experience. Coleman was a,div 1 NCAA champ with shitty striking....wtf
@mmaallday118 don frye was also a division 1 wrestler. Not quite the caliber of coleman but division 1 nonetheless. Both of these guys were limited by today's standards. But I stand by what I said in similar skill sets.
Don't forget Don Frye just fought a 20 minute match with a 5 minute break before fighting mark.
Wait what? With who?
wow i didn't know that Don is an absolute warrior
It was at UFC 10, not here
Yes people for get about that these new mma fighters could never do that !
Or he had a quick warm up before the main event.
Wouldn't have thought that Don would've had as much success clinching with Mark as he did in the first round.
Don is better boxer. But he has poor wrestling skills against Coleman.
Started with the ground n pound now we here!
My boy Coleman was a beast before UFC we knew he was winning the first one. Partied too much later.
"You can knee Don in the head all you want Mark but I'll be DAMNED if you headbutt his stomach !" - Ref
I bet that gave a lot of fighters brain damage back in the day
I'd say these are the two toughest fighters in MMA back in the day.
The "Big Four" in my opinion: Don Frye, Mark Coleman, Dan Severn and Tank Abbott.
What a great battle and round two for these two MMA legends!
Pride - best fight promotion EVER!
Duas lendas vivas. Dois imortais do combate mundial.
Great fight. It ranks with any fight, any era of MMA as one of the best.
This was a legendary collision 💥
Considering how much more experienced and the caliber of opponent's coleman was fighting around this time, this is an admirable showing by frye. He was pro wrestling in japan as the sport was evolving and coleman was fighting. Great matchup.
2 legends.. too bad ufc wont post all cro cops fights
About time
Crazy energy. Props to Coleman.
Here after the news, wish him a speedy recovery
Tom Selleck versus Vin diesel.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
That Smother Choke from Coleman is the stuff of nightmares...lol
I watch it when mom leaves for work
They were both around 38-39 years old in this fight , too. Good scrap.
Frye was 31 i dont know about the other guy.
Frye 31?
@@Swilla12 n0 31
@@justinriley8651 you're saying Don Frye was 31 years old at the time of this fight?
@@justinriley8651Frye was 31 the first time he fought Coleman in 1996. Thus fight was 2003. Frye was 37 in this fight
Picking up where we left off
I can’t believe how fast these guys are to be so big
At least Don won the stare down. 😕
Yessssss HAMMER VS PREDATOR
The early UFC pissed me off . I feel like these guys were used and never got the compensation they deserved.
There was no money in it. Guys just loved to fight back that knowing they weren’t making anything
Yup. They wuz robbed! Tank Abbott said he would do it for free!
You'de think Dana would find a way to make all these guys some money, maybe he has but these guys deserve more than our respect
Great camaraderie.
This. Is. Awesome
If you're down in north south position, you put your hands on either side of the guy's hips, and when he lifts his leg to knee you, push as hard as you can up and in the direction of his planted knee and spin him onto his back.
That mustache could beat up everyone there.
Coleman knew how to really take advantage of his weight and size
Roids made these monsters crazy durable man..
Gotta give em props for literally giving their all to entertain. Not sure how wise, but God bless them.
Bro tbh I don't even think those guys juiced that hard if at all. Frye was a Firefighter and worked shoeing horses. Both jobs require a great amount of strength. He looks natural tbh. Most young FF's have a build like Frye's.
It’s not that hard
To get hit lol
@@wheelbarrow23Frye juiced for sure. He admitted to TRT. I doubt he blasted as much as Coleman but get real..natural? Come on. He's 38 here or almost 38. You can't just look at physique to judge whether or not they are blasting. A big part of the roids is injury healing...these guys put their bodies through a lot, the roids would help recovery immensely .. so it ain't just about bodybuilding stuff.
Coleman owned Frye, however Fedor made Coleman tap. Twice.
Came here from always sunny podcast.
Don watched the fight for a year and the second went the same way lol
Coleman is huge
PRIDE was the greatest show on earth !
Gotta love the PRIDE Rap/Rawk musaq 🤘😀 🎶
DON FRYE…WOOF!!!
Don fought a grueling match before this...premadonna ufc fighters need 3 to 4 months
Bravo
Looks like Frye burnt his right arm out in the first round with that guillotine.
You had these guys
and then you had Fedor (who still fights!!)
Frye need to throw more. He has the knockout power. He needed to go A- Wall
My favourite moment of the fight is when Mark went and headbutted Don in the stomach.
Don's boxing was always great
Even in boxing, Frye was no better in this fight
Coleman was better and dominated the fight all the time.
I love don frye
I talk about this game with mama sometimes
BAS talking about Frank like they weren't arch rivals
Return of the Warriors Or The Return of The Titans🤼🏻♂️💪🏻 🤜🏻🌩🤛🏻💪🏻🤼🏻♂️
Mark was on the juice back then
My friends father a doctors
Would give him what ever he wanted
I had to change this when my wife walked in....
One commentator called Don Fyre the Great value Freddy Mercury.....i died 😅😅😅😅
Dan Severn looks like Freddy mercury.
Not Frye
Tank abbot said that on an old ufc when he was commentating
I dont get it, Mark could end this fight earlier in round 2. So many chance to do kimura lock at 24:15 - 28:58.
Great fight though
Neither one of these guys were trained in jujitsu they were both wrestlers and ex football players. That's what made it so great they were brawlers. Like how I fight really is.
This program is so 2000s it hurts
Gentlemen 👏
One thing I never cared for in PRIDE was the ref resetting them when they got in the rope area.
Just like Freddie Mercury was to Queen,' Don Frye was to MMA.''
Jesus, Frank Shamrock training Don Frye is scary. Frank imo could have fought in any era and been champion, he was that good. The first true great mma fighter as he was legit all around.
The horse meat. The horse. The stable amd all the secret juice. Pride days
Lol they gave Frye O2 in the corner?
Man Coleman had to have some weight on frey!! When don frey was born the dr looked at the women and said its a man!! Lol
Don Frye is definitely the Predator 😊
Man those knees to the top of the skull.
Don is is like trying to get a anvil to submit ! Mark is a bad dude no doubt he looks exhausted
When they met in the center before the fight Coleman couldn’t even look Don Frye in the eyes. Good fight but I wanted Frye to win
Don Frye vs Jerome Le Banner. Imádtam ahogy elaludt...
This build up is so awesome. What are the songs in the beginning here?
A bunch of hugging
Bad dudes for sure I wouldn’t want to have to fight them then again it would probably only hurt for second or two before i was in the dark
Coleman and those roids like so many others. You CAN look at a person and SEE it in their face.
yeah... it's weird and uncanny.
Someone more roided then Frye lol
Mark CLEARLY the better fighter
that feint takedown at 14:00 and is crazy
Coleman might have won both fights. But he will never be the man that Don Fry is!
Warriors!
L-Learning not loss!!!!!!!
They didn't throw hands at all back then
Mark just had Dons number
Don Frye = Tom Selleck
Frye learned everything From Frank "except" a sprawl...😂
He trained with Dan Severn.
He waited 7 years for age to kick in lol.
Were they both juiced up or was it just Mark?
Cowboy vs a bottle of juice
Both were juiced in this fight
@@bush600r2 possibly....I'm of the opinion 98% of fighters juice. But if there was ever one that didn't??? It would be Don...His whole personality is just already juiced w out being juiced lol
Damn
