Great song! I've been playing for a year and the speed of your presentation was perfect for me. It would be nice to have a play along from start to finish of the song after you teach it to us so we can polish it. Thanks.
Always a great pleasure to follow your tutorials, deat Stew ! You're really helping to go further in Ukulélé practice ! So many thanks ang greatings from France. Alfred.
great lesson Stu! your speed is great, allowing us to marinate in each section and really understand the music theory and fingering for a more complex piece like this! :)
Hey Stu, love the song, love the chords, never too slow to learn it fully. I will keep coming back and working on the parts where the chords change a little faster, but make such beautiful transitions in the song. And thanks for another strum pattern (or two)! We will not be able to get to Georgia in April, but so looking forward to being with you in person again in early July for Arts Week @Omega-- closer to home in Rheinbeck!
I've been coming back to this song quite a bit, along with the other related addiitonal content! Not only do I like this song, but it has really helped me to change chords faster and hone the strumming patterns. I feel like I've really made good progress after a month. Thanks, Stu, for sharing this lesson and detailed techniques!
As always, amazing teacher, live this tune! Georgia sounds so warm as i look out the window brabing another cold snap.. .. cheers from Alberta Canada,, !
I'm new to ukulele and I've been all over UA-cam looking for tutorials. I love the ones you offer! Bc I love jazz, blues and reggae, and the other UA-cam tutorials have a lot of folksy songs and pop songs. Nothing wrong with that, it's just not for me. This is definitely for me. Thank you! When I get some more practicing in, I think I'll join your patreon. But I'm a baby at this still.....
One of my all time favourite Jazz tunes. I"ve just bought my first Banjolele and I reckon it's going to be ace for this. I'll "master it in the Ukes first, maybe.
Of course, one way to change it up is actually to slow down! (I'm more familiar with the Ray Charles cover, so that's why I bring that up) Sometime could you make tutorials for some of your own songs, for example "Little Jumping Flea?" I really like that song!
Why, thank. you! I would be delighted to make a tutorial for that tune -- it's based on a stock chord progression from New Orleans Jazz Traditions :-) Stay tuned for it somedya not too far from now! All the best to you Wyatt.
When you're in the bridge, I can almost hear "I Saw Her Standing There." Whenever I listen now, though, I mentally start the song with you saying, as if after the tutorial part, "Ok let's jam!"
I'm so happy I discovered you in the list of Faculty of the upcoming Port Townsend Festival! :) Looking forward to meet you in person and take your class :)
Great song. Great teaching tempo. Great content...but (😄) I`d love a playalong to practice along. Your arrangement of this song is not out of reach technically, and it is a great workout technically and musically. Whether I can sing it, is an entirely different question. Another thing, I`d like to compensate you for your very good work, but not through Patreon. Is it feasible for you to sell arrangements through your website? Cheers Mort from Denmark
Thanks Mort (my Father’s name) If I hear you right, you’d like to have a play along video WITHOUT the teaching breaks? Glad you’re here - in the video description there is a link to offer a donation via PayPal of Venmo … Patreon offers you some nice perks if interested. Happy jamming 😀🎶🤙
@@UkuleleZen Hi Stu. You are spot on. For instance your Autumn Leaves video features a playalong in the end of the video. I have played and sung along to that video a lot. Between you and me, I have often skipped the first 2 min 30 sec to get to the music 🙂 About Patreon, thank you for the information.
Great song. If anything, a little fast at times for me, but I have a pause button! I get a little lost keeping track when the chords are more or less than 4 beats, otherwise great. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching and joining in! Yes, use the almighty pause button and arrow buttons to rewind back. There’s also a very handy device called VIDAMI which connects to your computer or tablet - check the link in the video description to see a demo video from me…the Vidami pedal is amazing and makes learning much easier 😊🤙🎶
Excellent tutorial but how I wish you’d referred to the change from B7 to Em as “the same three fingers, in the same pattern, move ACROSS to the first three strings and not “….down to…” Yes, there a lot of new players for whom down might mean nearer the ground but 1. before long “down” will come to refer to pitch not “height above sea level”. 2. when it comes to chord diagrams your own video presents them vertically so that “across” is the better word 3. And unless nless the melody notes being accompanied happen to go down from B to G, the change, even in re-entrant tuning, sounds more up than down to my ear.
I guess I like a challenge 😉 sometimes I have to choose the key based on ease of ukulele chords, knowing that if I make the cording to difficult with that different key, many players won’t be able to follow along… Always OK to go to falsetto voice, of course 😃🤙🎶

I watched your La Bamba video (July/August tutorial, not the one from 5 years prior) and have you noticed how much it sounds like Twist And Shout?
