@zondor8123 we all have our own views on it, districts made 6 better imo, and the dlcs fixed a lot of things, but both have major flaws, 4 was better imo.
I love the way the map graphics look especially the ocean but UGH that UI, the icons are some weird pastel color theme that blend with every surface they could be on, and why would you use huge grey boxes if youre gonna fill it with a tiny Times New Roman text
UI is usually the last part of development, after everything else has been worked on since the final gameplay will dictate how the UI needs to function. It’s minimally viable to facilitate development gameplay
Thank you for making these videos. Good stuff. Video idea I had for you: I (along with much of your audience) am a big civ 5 player but have found it difficult to get myself into civ 6. This is due to many reasons like UI, graphics, etc. You should make a video for your audience that are civ 5 players on what we would/should love about civ 6. Looking at the 2 games side by side, what civ 6 improved upon and brought back from civ 5. And where you prefer civ 5 and what you miss abt that game.
The only UI I’ve seen on a 4x game that has revolutionised is Old World the information pop ups is if you hover over something and get a pop up you can hold down a button and hover inside its box to bring up another pop up about what you hovered over and hold a button again to bring up another pop up hovering over something else and so on. It’s quite cool
I literally cannot use dark mode on any screen for more than 1 minute. My eyes and head begin killing me. I sure do hope they at least give a light version since EVERY SINGLE THING seems to be in black.
Mastery sounds like a great way to improve techs and culture if you haven't had a necessary tech boost or eureka completed yet for the next tech or culture moment
I love this game and I'm excited for it. I can't wait for it! I know some people are complaining about the UI and Unit Scales, Unit Scales on Army Units seem fine, Naval needs to be tuned down a bit, and the UI, definitely needs an overhaul. Though i believe the UI is a theme asthetic that will match with whatever theme you put on, which will be affected by the map tiles aesthetic. So a bit of customization there! Though i must state this, Unit Scales and UI can be fixed at the end. I personally don't care for it at the moment, they have more pressing matters to deal with. In fact, if the people paid attention to the live stream, they would see that towards the end, their was a glitch when declaring war, it broke moving any units, so we couldnt see mass naval combat as we were promised unfortunately. I'd rather they fix that before polishing the UI. Priorities Peoples, Priorities
Hey @jumbopixel I thought I commented on here randomly long time ago but couldn't see my comment. Thats allgoods. Since your a 4X guru and all that. Are you able to do a Review on Zephon, Sci-fi Post apocalypse. May not be your type of game but I just wanted to know your thoughts on it. Especially knowing your from NZ. Be cool to get a familiar opinion from you. It just released on steam :) Asking as a humble civilian Kind regards
Certainly not just you. It’s one of the most *common* complaints I hear - and in my humble opinion, not wrong. Though I do like a minimal design, I feel some parts need some real loving.
My question is if the increased production cost applies to everything like it did in Civ VI. (ie each time you produce a builder, it costs more-in my opinion the worst decision in Civ VI.)
the master option in the tech tree is the first thing of 7 i see that is not directly ripped from the competition.. i still think this version of civ seems to be to mch scripted with pe the crisis system and others.. the creativity of this dev team seems to be aimed at how the game looks not on the game play....
@ they need tech bleed /exposure - if you interact with a nation with a tech - it slowly completes. That way you don’t have to research animal husbandry when you have tanks. And can pursue advanced things better.
I wonder if while you chase Masteries, will the AI just roll past you cranking out units and vomiting citoes all over the map...while you get good boats?
Only the special civ specific civics. Since all other tech doesn't really carry over directly. On the next age, you will have all the old tech even if you didn't research it, but it will most likely be unusable.
Talk about a UI that will put you to sleep sheesh. Praying they change this and if not hopefully a modded will be able to fix it if they won’t listen to the majority of fans saying it looks bland and ugly.
I feel like it really doesn’t look that bad…. I’d rather them spend the bulk of their time on making a good game if they have time constraints than have a bad game and gorgeous UI
I really like the idea of mastery, but also how culture is turned into a real tech tree now. It's such a shame the game starts at such an inflated price.
So much wasted potential by only having like 3 national civics. It's a nice Idea but presenting this large scale as a big tree and then talking about how they tested out how many nodes where good and whatnot feels like a joke tbh. I really hope that they expand massively on this feature in future updates...
The UI looks horrid, like a 12-year old who found Photoshop for the first time and is making gradients and drop shadows but doesn't understand consistent margins, paddings, depth, light source direction, typography, alignment... It's not just bland and outdated, but it's just objectively and subjectively bad. Ironically, the GAME itself looks great, including those hexagonal cloud of war tiles. Those look great. Just the UI, darn. I hope this is all something they'll refine over the next few months. Though I'm guessing they'll dumb it down for consoles and mobile devices.
It still feels bland without the builder mini game. most of your turns will just get skipped until you discover a tech for example or run into a barb problem. The fact you could boost your production through chopping was VITAL to get certain wonders and made the game so much deeper
Really hope they make nukes stronger and cause some actual environmental damage that would have us think about not using them, environmental damage we can fix unlike in humankind yuck

Can we please just get a civ 5 remastered
Nah , a Civ 4 or Alpha Centauri remaster is miles / light years better than Civ 5

has anything been said around game speed? Civ 6 marathon felt so unbalanced/neglected or worse than civ 5 marathon
I loved marathon in civ4. But I couldn't like it in 6 for some reason
So basically "leaf tech" from civ beyond earth.
(Yes, you had a research "tree" and research "leaves" attached to the main branches)
Here are my bets for the remaining 3 Exploration Era civs: Holy Roman Empire, Kievan Rus/Russia, Japan. What are yours?
So they just regurgitate the policies and put a 2 or 3 beside them awesome.
Science always annoyed me a bit because you kind've need all of it which makes the choices a bit arbitrary at times.
It does but early you can go after certain techs first. I'm not sure adding a 2 or 3 beside something is expanding it.

If the AI is like the civ 6 AI it will barely upgrade it's units so you won't have to worry about it.
This sounds better and better but the UI is so flat and boring - maybe I'm just playing too much Age of Wonders 4.
I am really worried how this will be in multiplayer
If the age advances before you finish techs in the tree do you just lose access to those techs?

Can my surface pro 8 run civ 7?
Oh my sweet summer child
Civilisation 8 will come out after and cities skylines 2 still won’t be finished
Skylines 3 will come(unfinished) and skylines 2 will still be bad

Why shouldn't they release a quality game day 1 instead of having to add things?

Having to research shipbuilding twice just to be able to send settlers over ocean is a huge investment in order to play wide on a non Pangea map

Science needs to be removed completely. Tired of other players just spam rushing to get tanks. Every game feels the same cause of it
Fortunately that's not going to happen here as science and culture have a age cap so they can't make tanks while still having spearman or archers.
