I really enjoyed the way you handled the 1 hour gameplay limit, you actually played and showed us what that will look like, and you seemed to have fun while you were doing it. A lot of other videos I watched had the 'no time for fun we must show you as much as possible' feel, so thank you!
My concern is that the units are so hard to spot. Every content creator so far has had the problem that a settlement of theirs was attacked and they didn't notice there were enemies even near it. And viewing these videos - I have to put my nose on the screen and pause frequently to spot enemies too. In earlier versions it was (much more) obvious were units were.
This is a good point. @JumboPixel are there maybe accessibility options in the menu to, say, put a highlight / glowing border on units so they stand out more?

Nice video - just a suggestion but I wouldn’t be too “quiet” just because you can’t use live footage. There’s obviously a ton to discuss and you have some very nice insights into playing the game. I’d love an analysis based on what we know about how various civs combine with various leaders if you are going for different objectives. How would you play the Greeks with Machiavelli? And what would it move to - Spain? Then Mexico? Or some other combination? You could probably do a 30 min vid every other day on a series like that I I’d be watching for sure!
I have a question if possible; what if 2 leaders want the same civ? Or does the AI always give the player the one they want? How bout multiplayer? 2 players might want mongolia, or another really good exploration civ
Question! Does the Great People buff go away when you enter a new age like adjacency bonuses, or does it remain like ageless buildings? And does it matter if it is on a unit, building or a buff to the tile itself? Like for example, The Egyptian Tjaty unit can buff wonders/palaces for extra culture/gold production, does it remain when you are no longer Egypt? Or the Spanish Conquistadors that can give gold bonuses to natural wonders tile? Does the buff go away if you never improved the natural wonder before the age ends and what if it was not improved on at all? Are Unqie unit buffs any different ? Egypt have a great person who buffs Medjey, but I assume that one no longer applies since they are no longer Medjeys?
Question about Commanders, if you kept a unit stacked on the same tile as the commander, would that unit shield the commander from taking damage? It seems like a ranged unit that can pew pew over the front line would work well.
im very excited but i do worry that ill have a step learning curve due to my lack of game time on humankind and the similarities but i do believe its still civ at its core.

I don’t like the idea of being handicapped on exploring the map in the early game. And all the gameplay I have seen, the maps all look extremely similar with little variety. UI needs some color.
The current system in civ 7 of being able to mix civs and leaders that have nothing to do with each other is so unrealistic it makes it hard to get immersed in the game. Allowing players to take certain liberties with historical realities is fine but allowing things like Augustus to lead India is completely disregarding history. Its whack and makes no sense. If they wanted to change things up they should give you the option to change leaders and civs each age to a leader and civ that matches that age but is also historically accurate to a nations history. So, for example, you can start as the Celts with Boudicca in ancient era. Then when you transition to exploration era you change to England with Queen Elizabeth. And in the industrial era you can have the option to stay as England with Queen Victoria or transition to America with Ben Franklin. This same example can be done with other civs like Rome and Augustus having the option to transition in exploration age to a variety of civs and leaders that historically descended from Rome like Spain or France (not so much Normandy since they’re from Viking ancestry). This way, civs and leaders from any era can be matched in a historically accurate way that is more realistic, doesn’t feel as weird to play, and allows you to be immersed more.

I don't know if you can answer this but what's the download size? I see steam says 20gb on drive but I'm hoping it's compressed well for the actual download.
Having the leader of an Egyptian civ be dressed in imperial Roman attire is a bit confusing, no? Change the clothes to match the civ at least, like in Beyond Earth.
That would take the art team years, multiplying the effort to create a leader by effectively 30, as they would have to make one model per civ, then multiply that by the ammount of leaders
@@Rios_pot Or they could just hire an extra artist or two, and their job is making outfits. It's not like the whole base character model has to be redone other than the hair. They'll certainly sell more than enough copies to justify a miniscule increase in payroll.
@@Fuzzypaws It isnt as simple as that, think about it, if each leader needs an outfit per civ on the game, then the ammount of work needed per leader/civ would grow exponentially, each new leader needing over thirty variants, each new civ needing models for each of the previosly in the game leaders. In cases such as Tucumseh it wouldn't make sense, his peace pice would be completly out of place in any other context, meaning needing entirely new animations, which means it wouldn't be as easy as a simple outfit swap, it's mean getting rid of things that characterize each leader just to make them fit better onto another civ, you are asking to have a completly new design for each and every civ on the game. What would you prefer? Getting new content on a reasonable timeframe or delaying any new content just to get some extra skins for every single leader?
@@anomanderrake3593 You mean keeping your civ all through the game and leaders to be tied to certain civs? Age transitions and civ changing is a core mechanic of this new entry. The fact that leaders are independent from civs is a necesity when it comes to that, because, if they were not independent, you would change leaders each and every age, meaning that it would be harder to track who is who. If what you mean is that there should not be any civ changing in the game, well, as i said, core mechanic, this is not fifa that launches new games with barely any changes from the previous installment, sacrificing a core mechanic because they are not able to deliver on cosmetic change for leaders depending on the civ chosen is not reasonable to expect. Thing being, they could probably still add some cosmetic changes symilar to Elenor in civ 6 for leaders of multiple historic civs of the same age, that would be cool, leader skins are not a bad idea in concept, but having one for every single civ is beyond scope. Adding to all this discussion about having different skins, i read another coment that mentioned personas, how would you distinguish between two different personas if there are many purely cosmetic versions of the same leader? It would make it harder to tell, and considering that different personas of the same leader have completly different playstyles, it would be a problem of clarity.
no. no edition of this game is worth the price because game is not finished. civ 7 will be finished in about 5 years and then it will be worth something.
I haven't played but from all the footage I've seen my only complaint is minor and it hate that there is no empire borders on the minimap. Also I hope they bring back the Loyalty system to keep other civs from putting down cities in the middle of yours.
6:14 Just noticed lightning in the background in the far icecaps. Looks like beyond those Ice walls... is a storm. Why doesn't the world not want us to go beyond these walls!?
Not you. The UI is terrible and a lot of streamers are tiptoeing around it for some reason. The menus are flat and lifeless and the icon art of noticeably lower quality than everything else in the game. The peace deal screen was actually unpleasant to look at. Even the leader icons look like they are from a mobile port rather than a flagship PC game. My suspicion is that we are seeing what happens when Firaxis makes mobile ports a day 1 priority during development - UI has to be flat and basic to work on a smaller mobile screen.
hi friend! Do you think they will fix the borders? I don’t like how artificially straight they are. Civ 6 and especially Civ 5 had better looking borders
Being forced to abandon your civilization in Civ 7 isn’t just bad design-it’s a political agenda. They’ve turned a game about building history into a lesson on why your culture and identity don’t matter - it’s all fluid!
I will most likely watch a LOT of Civ 7 content to see how i like the game. I really love civ games, its been my most played games during the years (maybe except for starcraft). But i feel that something is "off" with this one. It is normal that the games is a bit worse at the start, before the DLC etc, but so far, this doesnt look too appetizing. Some features are ofc really cool, but there is something...
Yes. It's been a common comment in every preview I've seen. Worse than 6 and 6 was non existent. Nobody with a brain could lose a game of Civ 6. This looks to be worse.
@@Jeremy-k9t bruh I think that you have already made up your mind and nothing could change it. I do agree that the AI is not be as good as a good human player, but the computational costs might be too much for multiple AI civs. Maybe they might have to offload that to a cloud to make a GPT type agent.
@@glukog So why they are creating/increasing unecessary complexity if they cannot suffice that AI will be able to play it. In 6 once you got ahead of AI they were literally doing nothing/0/nada to catch to you, create some coalition to kick your ass.

Yeah, I don't mind a penalty for a long while if need be. Permanent will certainly make you rethink the decision before razing. I suppose something so barbaric will hold weight beyond a handful of turns now.
I’m sorry, but I am simply not buying into the mix-and-match leaders and civs. Playing as Rome, but having Augustus as your neighbor?? Who ever thought this would be a great design is beyond my understanding. 😢
People got mad over civ 6 because they didn’t like the graphics and it was too colorful while ignoring all of the improvements made in civ 6. I feel like people will get mad about civ 7 in the same way because of the UI, and people will ignore everything that got added or improved
I am excited for the game. I am looking forward to playing on day one. I think it will be great, but different. Many complaints I see are just basically some form of "I want Civ 6 with new graphics". That isn't exactly what they are saying, but they don't like any of the new changes, so you might as well just keep playing 6. I am excited about the changes. As long as they fix things that don't really work well, it will be fine. I don't expect it to be perfect. A game this huge with crazy balancing issues is nearly impossible to get right on day one. Internally they probably played and have data on tens of thousands of games. When the public gets their hands on it, there will be data on tens of millions of games. The more data, the better when it comes to changes. My biggest concern is the map size. I don't need to play on the crazy large maps with 20 civs, but normal with 8 civs seems too small. Maybe that is just this build and the release build will have more options. We will see.
This game has a messy UI and the graphic is not up to the level I would expect of a CIV game, ex. compare it to Manor Lords graphics that is M U C H better and show what is possible right now for new games.
Symptoms of laziness and not caring, or probably a rush job done by new hires. Either way doesnt excuse the quality especially for a series like civ where more eyes would be on it now. Hmmm,,,, ubisoft incoming??
I am not sold on having part of the world hard locked out in the early game at all. That part of the world just doesn't exist and later pops into existence? So I can't have Carthage colonize the Americas even if I want to push deep sea navigation? There just seems to be a whole lot of "play this game the way we want you to" going on here rather than giving players the tools to be creative and have fun. It still may be a fun game but I'm just not sold on it personally.
Some of the leaders are so cartoony in their look and animation (Augustus and Franklin instantly spring to mind) that it really puts me off. And that leaders don't change their clothes from age to age is... just bad. It's genuinely something that's making me think twice about getting the game, all other flaws aside.
Catherine the great leading the Roman Empire and Augustus the Egyptians... Seriously. I wonder who came up with that brilliant idea. Did any civ fans ask for that?? I really don't get it!
They just had to come up with something to sell the game for a much higher price. There is a chance that it will be one of the worst civilizations.... 😞

The leaders colors are using Civ 6 standard colors. Like in the previous installment, it may change secondary set of jerseys.
How does the game run? Thats what I am waiting for on buying it.
that disaster was so brutal lmao. i would probably rage quit that game XD
Question: does the game have real world map? It’s my favorite type of game in civ 6
I want to know if the founders edition is worth it?
no. no edition of this game is worth the price because game is not finished. civ 7 will be finished in about 5 years and then it will be worth something.
Is there UI scaling for 4k monitors?
How tf can you still make a game 15 years later look worse than civ 5
Where was that blizzard from? The Day after Tommorow?
What's the city hex size limit in this game?
The same as 5 and 6.
Hiw long til someone makes an extended policy card mld since they seem to not want to do that
I haven't played but from all the footage I've seen my only complaint is minor and it hate that there is no empire borders on the minimap. Also I hope they bring back the Loyalty system to keep other civs from putting down cities in the middle of yours.
Im not really that excited atm about Civ VII, but those cities look fabulous
Should I get Civ 7 on PC or Ps5 I have only ever played it on PlayStation so idk if one is better than the other or if it's the same. Any tips?
PC is the natural home, they have done a good job on gamepad but it's so much easier with mouse
Everything is better of PC. That a silly question.
@mysteriousstranger9496 no need to be rude is there, why not just answer the question
@giggsy42 don't be so soft. What are you a zoomer/alpha? Or from a country that don't know how to take a joke?
@mysteriousstranger9496 no, it's basic manners..... joke, yeah right!!! Hilarious, a future in stand up awaits, watch out Ricky Gervais 🤡
The game looks great overall, but the leader UI in the upper right corner is still ugly, I hope they can refer to the design of Civilization 5
Can you confirm or deny if there is any "Worldbuilder" style in-game editor, just like in Civ IV? Thanks.
Normally those world buiders come with later releases! But good question. My questimation is that we get world buiden most likely spring 2026.

Just noticed lightning in the background in the far icecaps. Looks like beyond those Ice walls... is a storm. Why doesn't the world not want us to go beyond these walls!?
is it me or were some of Civ 6's UI's better
Catherine of Rome and Augustus of Egypt... why...
Because the AI will pick the historic choice if it can. In this case Rome was already picked so the next historical choice would be Egypt.
Idiots in Firaxis
Because Firaxis just can't be bothered to improve the existing game so they had to create something more idiotic.
@@anomanderrake3593you wanted Civ 1.7?
I’ve never been this early
I will most likely watch a LOT of Civ 7 content to see how i like the game.
I really love civ games, its been my most played games during the years (maybe except for starcraft).
But i feel that something is "off" with this one.
It is normal that the games is a bit worse at the start, before the DLC etc, but so far, this doesnt look too appetizing.
Some features are ofc really cool, but there is something...
It seems they took a few cues from Humankind in this edition of Civ. 🤔
It sure as hell is not worth $120AUD. This is the first Civilization game I won't be pre-ordering in 15 years
What's with these ugly leaders, come on it's 2025
But is the AI completely braindead again?
From what I heard from Ursa's video, the AI is much better. But I guess it is still not a true reasoning AI.
The thing with Firaxis is they never bother with making the AI better because people will still buy the game for multiplayer.
Bruh why is Catherine such a baddie in Civ VII?
I hate how Augustus’ looks
He looks sickly
@@Cris1MacYou’re not gonna believe this
I think he would look better if he looked a bit older.
I hope its some sort of "We can't show this", but really confused by all the floating green rectangles that don't appear to be actually hinding anything that all the preview videos have in them
Looking again they seem to be some sort of health bar, but they are really jarringly mismatched to the rest of the UI
The penalty for razing cities looks brutal. -1 war support for EVER?! You will have to cope with the AI terrible city development it seems
Yeah, I don't mind a penalty for a long while if need be. Permanent will certainly make you rethink the decision before razing. I suppose something so barbaric will hold weight beyond a handful of turns now.
@@yxada1998
Maybe in contemporary age, but for a long time people did it A LOT
I thought it was +1 to opponents not -1 to you?
@ Oh yeah, for sure it was done fairly often.
-1 war support? What? How can Civ players struggle to read 3 sentences
Civ 6 was a brain dead mess that was a step back from Civ 5 in every single area. I don't care how it looked, it was a terrible game.
@@Jeremy-k9t Civ6 (multiplayer) is the best game in civ series and the 2nd best strategy game overall (1st is HOMM3).
Civ 6 is awesome
@@Jeremy-k9tAs someone who repeatedly goes back to civ 6, i can confidently tell you that calling it a “terrible game” is just a plain lie.
Can you have a unit in the same hex as your commander so that it protects the commander? So the unit gets beat up rather than the commander?
No. It seems that commander will take one slot.
Yes. Other people have done it. Jumbo maybe assumed you can't and didn't try.
Yes, it functions like support units always have, this playthrough was maddening...like...he didn't even TRY to defend his most important unit.
Is the AI competent?
Should I buy on PC or PS5?
depends on your specs, however controller is harder to play with, not the same ease of acess of keyboard & mouse.
if you have the choice, pc
Pc for mods.
PC is where you will get the most out of Civ 7
@@crnoo2779 Specs are full I think 4070 32 gb ram i7
Looks like humankind, and thats not a good thing
Great game play thru gives us good ideas to start our first play thru with.
It still may be a fun game but I'm just not sold on it personally.
world expands with the ages? why .... that's not how world's work
I think a lot of the UI elements are simply too big. Lots of empty space. Scale em down.
This game looks amazing, but the UI is functional, but disgustingly ugly
The team was cooking when they designed this map. It’s stunning
