BNSF Railway Heritage 1 Locomotives

- Since its formation in September of 1995, BNSF Railway has designed several different paint schemes to adorn their fleet of locomotives. The first, known as "Heritage One", was created in 1996 for the railroad's first order of new Dash-9 locomotives. It was also applied to many older locomotives. In this video, we will take a look at a number of different locomotives working for BNSF that were painted in the Heritage One scheme. Most of these scenes were filmed in the Pacific Northwest in Washington State.

H1 Dash 9s look great, but I think their GEEPs fits it so much better
The GPs really do look great in H1!
@@CoasterFan2105 MUCH better than the Dash 9s variant in my opinion. They just fit it EXTREMELY well on them because it brings me back nostalgia to my older days when I was getting started on Railfanning and filming
Especially on the sd40's
Great video Mike
Cascade, The BNSF GE DASH 9 is the oldest locomotive actually since 1998.
I really like the H1. Its better than most scheme on other railroads. The Dash 9s are good, but it looks better on older locomotives
It’s a very nice scheme! The orange and green complement each other very well.
i am glad you didnt count "H4" as a paint job when it is clearly H3. Thank you for your service in this way.
I looked for quite a while and still could not find any official documentation of what BNSF calls the different schemes. I’ve always been curious where the names came from.
H4 is a paint scheme!
it is literally H3. people only call it H4 because they started applying H3 onto some EMD wideabs in a way that H3 previously was only applied to Standard cabs. @@North_Cascade_Railfan
What's the difference between h3 and h4?
@lizggil123 no easy way to tell the difference between the 2 but H4 looks just slightly different
Beautiful, thanks for sharing 👍😀 I do have some footage of BNSF engines while I was travelling around in CA. Once I remember I was by the highway in the desert (it was possibly the 66??), I saw the engine coming so I stopped the car on the side of the road and started filming with my iPhone. Then of course, when the engine was close enough, the driver saw me filming and activated the horn, so I got a little jump on the footage, hehe 😆
5:10 Very Cool catch
Amazing video!! Good to see these locomotives in H1 paint still rolling out n’ about.
The heritage 1 pain scheme has to be one of my favorites! You hardly get to see them around.
Not if you get to go to yards often or deadlines.
Its always a good day when he uploads.
Every Friday!
Yes it will cool to see more paint schemes of other railroad
Excellent! I will do more videos like this in the future then!
@@CoasterFan2105 cool

Great shots, Mike! It’s cool to see so many older locomotives still in service.
I caught a h1 dash 9 as a DPU on a grain train in Bellingham back in February

Love the H1 paint scheme the most for BNSF, I wish it wasn't so short-lived.
It's a really nice scheme!
awesome thanks for the post.😊😊👍👍
You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Fun fact, BNSF's "Fakebonnet" Dash 9s were actually built and delivered after the H1 Dash 9s, between H1 and H2
YESSS ❤❤🎉🎉

Great video where was the thumbnail taken
Thanks! That was taken on the north side of Bellingham, WA.
Amazing shots! Love it! Question, what do you use to capture audio?
Cool vid! I don't remember if I actually captured an H1, but I have for others.
Thanks! There’s a good chance you’ve seen them. There are a number of them out there still.
@@CoasterFan2105 The place where I could find them the closest is at Pinole (can't believe it has been almost 3 years since we met in person).
Wow! Great video! (Obviously) Seems most of these are filmed in WA. I’m going up there my self so wanna definitely get some Railfanning in.
Thank you! Yes, most of these were in Washington. There were a couple from CA but most were in the Puget Sound area.
@@CoasterFan2105 ah got it! I’ll see if that’s close to where I’m at and try and get some trains there.
I've Seen 3 (Maybe 4) H1 Dash 9's
geeps look better in this paint
Can you do an episode of train talk about why Union Pacific throw their C44-9ws into storage and why their not seen on the mainline no more
Hi Mike Armstrong this is Isaiah wiley from myrtle Beach south Carolina saying hello and keep up the great work on North America railroad video making and I have a great idea 💡 for another western Canada 🇨🇦 railroad video for you can you go to British Columbia Canada and make a railroad video of BCrail also known as the British Columbia railway if you can please add it to your railroad video making on Friday at 9am pacific time, anyway this is Isaiah wiley from myrtle Beach south Carolina saying thank you and God bless you and good luck 👍 ❤.
Back before the swoosh was a thing on locomotives lol.
9th comment! Love those hood-unit Bs! Great catches all around!
Does anyone have some context for the BNSF loco pulling the Amtrak Cascades train by the Cabbage end? Was it playing helper, did the Siemens Charger break down, or was there some other reason?
I really like those GP60Bs! The Dash-9 on the Amtrak train was rescuing that train after the other locomotive broke down.
4:19 an SD70M in H1?!?!?!?!? Or that might be and SD60M or a MAC idk.
Just wondering what camera do you use?
Good jop. Простите если неправильно пишу на английском.
Uhh, I don't know how to say this, but I've never seen an H1 in person.
They’re getting harder to find now, but there are still a few of them out there!
I didn't know there were sd60's in h1
