I agree, almost everyone has an addiction, food, drugs, alcohol, etc... the problem is, it is hard to trust at this point. Sadly this is normally a recurring behavior with the select few and how man people / families suffer because of one with an addiction. The reason is there are few who are truly sorry and end up rehab. I'm glad he did, and a blessing for sure. He has a wonderful voice, but this isn't the same song sadly for everyone.

The bottle is my drug. I never lost my wife or children yet. I didn't lose that life we've worked for. But for the fist time in a long time I hit my knees and asked God to help me. I begged him to help me. Just when I thought he ignored me and just when I was thought I needed that bottle again I opened UA-cam and this was the first song that came up.

I have even gave back to the community and took the message of hope into two detention centers for 13 years. BUT I still can’t get housing because of the manufacturing charge in 2004. I lost hope and had 2 relapses. Each relapse caused me to loose jobs. I have lived in motels and my car. It has even caused me to have financial issues. I've clean since I was 16 and I am now 44 thanks to 2 men in my life who took me on as there daughter and got me clean off every drug I was on and alcohol I can say I have never did heroin and pcp. I may not have any felonies but I hit rock bottom and have been in and out of jail. I hurt a lot of people in my life and the one person I loved so much I hurt so bad for 8 yrs and I hadn't been in his life for the last 5 yr until Dec 6th 2017 and now I am getting a second change with him even though we are taking it slow. I was addicted to methamphetamines and when I heard this it made me cry because he experienced the same things pretty much that I did. My ex moved my son about half a state away and everything was so real. I felt his pain. I lived it every day and now I celebrated a year clean in February and wouldn't go back for all the money in the world. My son is my inspiration.

I have always loved Jeff Bates..it takes a lot of courage to ask for forgiveness.. I whispered to my Momma at her hospital bed, i told her what i did and i pray everyday she heard me and gave me that forgiveness i prayed for that day she went away to heaven.

Jeff, I met you years ago at the Fort Hood Welcome the Troops back in 2004. Your story has really affected my life. I now find myself going into prisons to witness to the men there. I have made contacts and friends who all need a second chance. I think God there are people out there that are willing to give good men a second chance after they make a mistake. I lost my best friend in 1988 from someone addictedTo drugs and alcohol. She was struck and died in the helicopter on the way to the nearest hospital. I still miss my friend, the lady who hit her was heavily fined idk if she got help but it made me stay away from drugs. Thank you Jeff for this song. Everyone deserves a second Chance!!

It reminds me of my daddy, he used to do drugs and was in and out of my life when i was growing up and now im 16 and hes been here and taking care of me since i was 13. I used to do meth and drink whiskey and one day I ended up in the hospital and that what changed my life because my husband almost lost me . Thank God god helped me out to understand that I have a life to live and not to waste it
This song is my husband and I. He used on and off most of his life and have done time for drugs as well as other things. I started using after we got married. After two years of using and being homeless with him and our children, I decided that I had enough of that life. I told him that if he wanted to continue using, he had to leave. We both got clean in August of 2011 and have stayed that way ever since. We moved to another state to make a better life for our family and are loving life now.

I want to meet Jeff bates one time in my life. I was young and I was stupid. I lived the life he talks about on this song. The only difference is i was lucky and didn't get caught. But what the difference when people still judge by what you did? I lost a great job, because of my choices. I went from having the world by the balls to having nothing cause I sold it gave it away, so I could stay high that much longer. I am glad my boss gave me that second chance, I now have a girl that loves me for who I am and not for who I was.

I was strug out and addicted to herion, cocaine, almost od on herion a few times I stopped both at the same time 1year ago yet some how I still get tempted to start back specially under stress so it's still a up hill fight for me to resist and fight to not relapse back and I still drink more than I should so this song hits me hard.

I was addicted to methamphetamines and when I heard this it made me cry because he experienced the same things pretty much that I did. My ex moved my son about half a state away and everything was so real. I felt his pain. I lived it every day and now I celebrated a year clean in February and wouldn't go back for all the money in the world. My son is my inspiration.

Jeff, I met you years ago at the Fort Hood Welcome the Troops back in 2004. Your story has really affected my life. I now find myself going into prisons to witness to the men there. I have made contacts and friends who all need a second chance. I think God there are people out there that are willing to give good men a second chance after they make a mistake. I lost my best friend in 1988 from someone addictedTo drugs and alcohol. She was struck and died in the helicopter on the way to the nearest hospital. It reminds me of my daddy, he used to do drugs and was in and out of my life when i was growing up and now im 16 and hes been here and taking care of me since i was 13. Hes changed so much, my mom couldve said he wasnt gonna see me but she gave him one second chance and hes my biggest hero and if wasnt for him i wouldnt be the person i am today. i love you daddy and im proud of you for straightening your life out

This song is my husband and I. He used on and off most of his life and have done time for drugs as well as other things. I started using after we got married. After two years of using and being homeless with him and our children, I decided that I had enough of that life. I told him that if he wanted to continue using, he had to leave. We both got clean in August of 2011 and have stayed that way ever since. We moved to another state to make a better life for our family and are loving life now.

I want to meet Jeff bates one time in my life. I was young and I was stupid. I lived the life he talks about on this song. The only difference is i was lucky and didn't get caught. But what the difference when people still judge by what you did? I lost a great job, because of my choices. I went from having the world by the balls to having nothing cause I sold it gave it away, so I could stay high that much longer. I am glad my boss gave me that second chance, I now have a girl that loves me for who I am and not for who I was.

I was strug out and addicted to herion, cocaine, almost od on herion a few times I stopped both at the same time 1year ago yet some how I still get tempted to start back specially under stress so it's still a up hill fight for me to resist and fight to not relapse back and I still drink more than I should so this song hits me hard.
