  • PSA… About Ticks! I have Alpha Gal Syndrome from a Lonestar Tick. They say it’s a red meat allergy that can cause anaphylaxis. Unfortunately it is so much more. Since this video I have also had to cut dairy products & all products with mammal ingredients. It’s been a pretty scary journey to getting diagnosed with Alpha Gal to figuring out how to live with it. Please be diligent & constantly check yourself for ticks when in the woods. Protect yourself the best you can. Also a great website for more information is alphagalinformation.org

If you haven't already look up.SAAT acupuncture, I had alpha gal and ended up in the ER from a reaction to mammal meat. Then I did the acupuncture treatment and I can eat whatever I want now.

I have researched it a lot but nobody anywhere near me does it. I had thought of traveling to do it but then read horror stories of some people getting worse? But the amount of people it helped outweighs that. I am willing to try it even if it just lessens my symptoms- that would be great!! I am so happy to hear it worked for you❤️ That is truly so great to hear!! Can I ask who you went to? That is also a rabbit hole I went down…. If I am going to travel I want to go to someone good. Thank you!

Thank you for posting this about lone star tick bites. Recently, my brother discovered what was causing him to get almost deathly sick from red meat. He's had the alpha-gal syndrome for 25-30 years and didn't know what was causing the problem. He's a farmer/rancher in Montana and has only eaten chicken or fish for all those years.

You are welcome!! I truly believe spreading awareness is key. The first time I had heard of it was on Facebook- I was so sick & getting all kinds of tests done. When I would mention it’s maybe that- none of my drs had ever heard of it. I kept getting brushed off.
That is crazy he had it so long & no idea the cause. But glad he related it to red meat. Hope he is doing ok now❤️ It’s a complicated thing at times.

I’m sorry to hear this. Tick bite related diseases seem to be the worst and usually doctors don’t like to admit to it. They often times will say” it’s in your head”. I’ve been hit with Lyme disease twice last year and it is a constant battle with the doctors to get any treatment. We will keep you in our prayers

    • @JLGWoodscapes

YES! I struggled with a few specialists to get an answer. I actually had to demand the test…. I even brought the test code with me. I was told no way you will be positive but if you are sensitive to meat just don’t eat it 🤯 It was a very humbling phone call when he called to say I was positive. Really the only thing I had going for the diagnosis was the rash. The rest of my symptoms were brushed off.
Sorry you had to deal with Lyme. Not fun I have heard. Stay well friend.

It is so frustrating! I believe I had this for over 10 years before I got diagnosed... I have listened to others who went through similar. I would itch and just feel so ill like I could die. I would wake up at night feeling like my throat was closing and be gasping for air, heart racing, high blood preasure etc. No rash but I would be itchy all over. I am absolutely thankful for the diagnosis, I feel like most MDs are very ignorant of this and so many people are suffering. I have been absorbing all the info I can and one of the main docs who studies this said that there are many people diagnosed that were never bitten by a tick, so that needs to be known. It is also in other countries where there is no lone star tick, so there are other vectors of the disease.remember that foods and beverages like orange juice are often fortified with vit D which is rarely vegan. Baking soda can be an isdue for some and white sugar is a no go, as it is processed through bone char. Get organic not white sugar if you must. So much is cross contaminated in factories also, so you have to look at everything closely. I went to a functional medicine MD to get my testing, when I told my family Dr the results asked if I needed an epi pen she said no, I'd be fine.I am changing my dr now.

Thank you! You are a good person, to take the time to inform anyone who will listen, as to the dangers of this tick born disease. I have recently turned to a meat based diet for my health and heard of this. So am very scared of it. In the UA-cam research I have done, I have seen that it will lesson, or go away completely in 8 months to 5 years. 5 years sounds awful, but "go away" sounds good.

Hello there. I have had alpha gal now for over 10 years. I now have a mast cell disorder on top of it after my second bite. I stopped eating all mammal when I found out and continued to eat dairy although I do still get a rash here and there from dairy. After the second bite I started getting major stomach pain from all fruit, seafood and eggs! It was crazy! I was so scared and sadly doctors just kept saying it couldn’t be from alpha gal since it’s just mammal meat but that’s when mast cell activation disorder kicked in. If I have any juice I feel drunk and start itching bad. I used to be fine living without red meat but now that I can’t have any fruits eggs and seafood I’m a mess! Also I was on Allegra for years until the second bite and it stopped working or I started to react to that. I also deal with itchy nose, runny nose, major brain fog like I feel like I have dementia at times. For the last year I have had major heartburn as well and I now take Zyrtec. I usually live off of chicken, potatoes, oatmilk, coffee, oatmeal at times, lots of bread, bagels. And since I have a binge eating disorder as well I sometimes say “screw it and eat dairy and pay the price” but I take daily Zyrtec and if I don’t take it then I can’t even eat wheat or oatmeal without itchy my nose, runny nose and coughing like crazy. I’m a complete mess and where I live now no doctors care to help. Anyways I wish you all the best ❤

    • @JLGWoodscapes
      @JLGWoodscapes  Рік тому +3

Hello- I am so sorry you are dealing with this too. It’s a struggle for sure. I also cannot do dairy now. It makes my bones hurt…. If that makes sense? It’s hard to explain some of the reactions. I am in a similar boat with finding a Dr that understands or wants to take this seriously. I am currently taking Allegra everyday for the runny, itchy nose part. Although it doesn’t seem to really help.
I know the feeling of just being a mess….. I am a mess too. Thank you so much for reaching out & I wish you well!! One day at a time friend❤️

Bingeing on a known allergen will cause mast cell activation. This isn’t a game! This disease is so new they are just beginning to discover all the unknown side impacts it may be having on sufferers health. Recently I heard a doctor say it might be a good idea to screen alpha gal patients for advanced heart disease due to the underlying inflammation in our bodies. I have alpha gal. I was diagnosed in January. Had it for years just didn’t know what was wrong with me. After Covid it got way worse. I can’t have juice because some are clarified using mammal products. They don’t have to list it so after several reactions I just avoid all juices and jellies. Regular sugar is a culprit as well I buy bone char free for use at home. Who knew sugar is refined using columns of mammal
bone char? Carrageenan is added to lunch meat turkey and chicken many times. Heavy cream and evaporated milk always have carrageenan added to it in the USA. I don’t do dairy or cheeses anymore cause I know the risk of mast cell activation. I’ve discovered through all my diet elimination in the beginning that my severe joint pain wasn’t only alpha gal but gluten sensitivity as well. Supplements need to be watched cause gelatin capsules cause issues as they are mammal derived. Iron is hard to get from chicken so find an iron supplement that is not animal derived. Hair loss can be caused by lack of iron. A good vitamin b complex is helpful too. I have a family who I can’t deprive of all their favorite foods just cause I’m allergic. Thankfully I can be around while it is cooking most of the time ( some become sensitive to that as well) I have good days and bad days. Sometimes I feel sorry for myself. I still have a good life and I’m going to do all I can to live as healthy as is possible for me and for my family.

Also watch your soaps and shampoos I break out if I use anything but pure Castille soap made from oils. Goat soap or conventional soaps use cow products in them. 1) also make sure if you’re allergic to gelatin. It is in foods like many gummy candies, standard marshmallow, jell-o & some sauces for example. Shows up in non food products like the capsules of some medications (both Rx & OTC), chewing gums & lipsticks. like Fish gelatin would be safe tho
2.) so sorry about your trouble at restaurants! Vegetarian/Vegan restaurants are definitely a safe bet if there’s any near you! You don’t need to be a vegetarian for the food and atmosphere ❤ to appeal to you. Staff should be pretty well informed here about what contains carrageenan _(btw did a MD say this wasn’t a separate allergy or condition from your Alpha gal? it sounds kinda weird for red meat to be cross reactive with it)_ since people who have a vegan/vegetarian/pescetarian diet tend to be more familiar in my experience. Plenty of the nice regulars I’ve met at the vegetarian restaurant I like to go to eat meat regularly they just come because they love the food. After that I think seafood restaurants _(with no red meat on the menu)_ & Indian restaurants would also be the least likely to contaminate their food with red meat byproducts. Still explain your situation of course to be safe. Sorry for being so wordy- just trying to brainstorm for you since it sounds miserable to never ever get to enjoy a meal at a restaurant

pretty crazy. I just read an article that said something 400,000 people now have this allergy since it first began to spread around 2017. When I first heard about it I had just gotten lyme disease which fairly trivial to get rid of. this allergy seems way more persistent and difficult to treat.

I had a huge swollen rash on my leg that was itching like crazy with the classic spreading rash. tested positive and got 2 weeks of doxycycline which knocked it out. that was 9 years ago and although i don't have any lingering impacts from lyme, my phobia of ticks seems to get stronger by the year.

Like i cant even open a coke bottle without it hurting my hands :/. I cant exercise because i blow up in hives. I have been taking Xolair for over a year and it has helped so much but recently i switched insurance and had two month of no xolair and im right back to where i left off. I just heard about alpha gal today so im doing all this research and im starting to believe this is what i have that doctors havent been able to diagnose me with since 2020! Its been a terrible 3 years to say the least. Hello- So sorry you are going through this & pray you get answers soon. I cannot even explain how miserable I was before diagnosis & diet change. It was scary as I am sure it is for you too. Have you already started cutting things out of your diet? It’s worth doing before you get tested. Also on the website I posted in this video are the exact accurate blood tests.
As far as what I eat now it’s very simple. I really should do an update video soon. I eat a lot of eggs, vegan bread- (yes vegan bread!) most bread has mammal byproducts. Vegan “butter” spread. It’s quite a journey figuring it out. Lots of veggies & fruit. Chicken & fish. I rarely eat at a restaurant as that truly never works out well for me. I heavily rely on the “fig” app & a support group on Facebook. My best advice for starting out is go very basic. It takes a long time for all the inflammation in your body to calm down. It took over a year for me. I was so sensitive & still am. It sucks but there is life with AGS. It was very depressing at first… grieving food & crying over food…. It does get easier though I promise.
Please keep me posted how things go for you. Sending many thoughts & prayers for answers for you!!
