I feel for you Huber, I know it's a 10 for you personally, great review and I appreciated you being objective. Great wordplay, 10/10 review. At the end of the day, it's just numbers, it's your words that matter. I just wanted to add that I just got into the Resident Evil series starting with REmake and now this and am loving everything about it. It has a really underappreciated story/narrative in my opinion, an unfolding mystery about a pharmaceutical company making bioweapons, what's not to love! I have been a fan for a very long time and have heard you gush about the series for years but was never really into survival horror. Between RE2 being your favorite game and the remake coming out I decided I'd give the series a shot. I started up REmake on Steam since It was already in my library from a humble bundle and man am I glad that I did, I got really into it pretty much right off the bat. Amazing game and I liked the RE2 remake, even more, suffice to say I guess I am a survival horror fan. The best part is I buy a LOT of game bundles and random games on sale on PC and actually own pretty much the whole series, all I need to buy is a copy of 3, Code Veronica and Revelations 2. Between the rest of the series, The Evil Within and Dead Space 1&2 it should be a great next couple months for me and it's all thanks to you. Thank you Huber, not only for getting me into Resident Evil but a whole genre of games I didn't know I'd love. It wouldn't have happened without you.
Resident Evil 2 Remake is a scary game . I love how Capcom brought back the fear and horror and what made the original game memorable and scary . I love this game :)
i can see why the game got a 9.0 tho... still amazing in my books! no matter the number, i think its the campaign's between Leon and Clair, taking the same path and you essentially meeting the same people but just with different played characters, and slight differences in branching paths with Leon being with Ada and Clair being with Sherry! but to me that isn't exactly bad.. it was pretty much the same take as the original so they didn't want to deviate away from that concept! but i can see the Dev side as well as the reviewer side of things so... 9 isn't bad tho seriously! I'm pumped either way to get my hands on this beast! i preordered the the RPD collectors with Leon's Statue! all aboard the hype train!
Guess what? Ultimately, all "pro reviewer" scores are opinions, just like everyone else. Some like Huber, hold more sway since he's a fan of the series and the survival horror genre in general. He may have some legit gripes, and some may agree or not. Just knowing there's cool unlockables and free DLC coming in March, with 2 retro RE2 classic costumes and the new "Ghost Survivors" mode - should easily make this title a 9.5 or 10 in some players' scores. All I know is this RE is for Gore hounds like myself, which based on other REviews - I can give it a 9.5 just as a guesstimate score without having played the ENTIRE game. I am very stoked for the 25th!
I remember watching the RE retrospective on Gametrailers way back when ... Brandon did the narration on those ... tis fitting he did the review narration here... salute!
I usually go to the comments section to get some decent insight, but this comments section is putrid. Every other comment is about the score despite the excellent review. Hey people, guess what? A game doesn't have to have any glaring issues and still not be perfect or revolutionary. It can be great (and 9 is a great score). Additionally, the metacritic is sitting at 91% so Huber isn't alone in how he's reviewed the game. If it got a 10, I'd be more skeptical, actually.
Huber deserves more respect than this, despite his HYPE, I have always felt and believed his reviews to be fair and unbiased, always keeping the fan and consumer in mind, whilst still retaining his positive attitude without it getting in the way of criticisms. (he is such a huge fan of these games that it makes him even more critical a lot of times imo)
People are complaining about the score but after playing it myself, I completely agree. Probably the biggest thing for me was the lack of diversity for the B scenario. It's basically the same as the character's A scenario with some items moved around and a sooner encounter with certain enemies. Compare that to the original game where the entire last section is a completely different area from the A scenario and the story is slightly different. Not to mention two different final bosses as well. Aside from that, the game is amazing. Despite beating it 3 times now, I still get the creeps in the early game when you first enter the Police Station. Minor Spoilers: One other thing that is kinda minor since most of us already know the story is that Leon and Claire's stories don't really intersect or impact each other. Again, going back to the original, you see them interact with each other more in the Police Station and the things they do affect each other like Claire blowing up the wall to the Chief's office or Leon pushing that swat car out of the way. Also, it makes no sense as to why I'm solving the same puzzle the other person should have already done. Like why am I trying to find the medals again?

I got into RE back with 4 on GameCube. This to me feels like what 4 did for the series, changing thing for the better for the franchise (7 technically did it first but for the sake of this argument). Leon is not only one of the coolest characters in this series but it’s interesting to see how games where he’s the main character also show how this series is revolving for the better.
Excellent Review as always Allies! and i can agree with it! while i can see why the Dev team didn't deviate away from the original game in all aspects like the Clair and Leon campaigns being close to the same but some minor differences in branching paths with different characters! that does hurt the score a bit for sure because your doing a lot of the same over! but Capcom did good here! they didn't skimp out on what matters and they know how much these games mean to the hardcore RE veterans like myself and others out there! and the modernized update to the game itself is very welcomed when its done right! I don't mind being able to move and shoot at the same time, but when its done like RE 6 it feels like "Resident of Duty!" that's when its lost all substance! this retains that horror aspect that we've all come to enjoy! Hats off Capcom and Allies for the wicked review! Friday cant come soon enough!
Beautifully written review by Huber with a perfect delivery by Jones. I'm so hyped for this game to come out. Gonna grab a hot cup of cocoa and turn off all the lights to fully enjoy the game.
Can’t wait to play this on steam deck, one of the things I learned about RE games is to run by enemies and bait them into dodging and trying to save all your ammo for tougher enemies or bosses.
Yess!!! It doesn’t get much hyper than this!!! I’m so happy for Huber I hope you enjoyed it! From the sound of the review it sounds like you did! Life is Strange 2 and RE2 in the same week?! I feel like I’m dreaming.

I just can't wait! I waited for this so bad. Veterean RE player here, S ranked the shit out of RE2 back in the day. Could play it blindfolded. Can't wait to master this one!
Is there any replay value besides playing the campaigns over and over again? I know Hunk and Tofu modes are confirmed, but a raid mode or survival mode would've been great.
The main campaigns can be played 4 times in order to experience all possible content. Leon A unlocks Claire B, and Claire A unlocks Leon B. Each of these differs slightly.
20 years ago, Resident Evil PS-1 game and graphics felt like this too, only because it was a game beyond its time!! I never came across such a good, creative story line with such good graphics! Second best for me is Dino Crisis.
Excellent review. Being one of my favorite games of all time, Resident Evil 2 remake seems like a Dream. But here it is and I can hardly believe it. I am just so grateful to be alive during a time with so many excellent games to experience, both old and new. Thank you Capcom, and thank you Allies for explaining to everyone the joys of this game series.
1:38 - you make a comment about how the campaigns come across as similar with only slight variations. A few media outlets seem to have made the same mistake, playing the same campaign twice with each character instead of the opposite campaign with the other character. It makes you wonder if the game offers a counter-intuitive means of displaying this feature, as a few people have made the same mistake for their reviews.
Excited to play this (once I decrease my backlog a little) and nice review, but I have a question about the original game. As someone who never played the original, I know the RPD station plays a central part in the game but was it really where most of the orginal game took place? I was a little disappointed when the review said it mostly took place in or around the station as I thought we explore the city more but if this was like the original then it should be expected.
The original also stuck in and around the station. Starting out on the streets leading to it. The whole station is like a labyrinth puzzle to figure out how to get through. If I said anymore I'd spoil it.
@Space__Burrito @Shawn Wax Thanks for all the info. I'm still slightly disappointed that the game isn't as big as I thought but considering how the original came out about 20 years ago, I really don't have that much of an excuse to not know this. Still excited to play it though.
One thing I wish the review addressed is how the game looks so good but also feels like it is running smoothly above 30fps. I'm not sure if it's running at 60fps or just Unlocked but you don't see that much with console games, where both visuals and framerate are great. Like MGSV I feel any game that can balance visuals and a smooth 30+ fps on console (even base consoles) deserve praise for it. UNLESS the framerate isn't as smooth, I only played the demo, so maybe in the full game it suffers?
played the full game never dropped a frame, even when shitonnes of zombies were on fire and a certain big guy was after me, it NEVER drops, buttery smooth.(playing on a pro)
GimmeDatCake I think most of the gamer though Claire and Leon will be two completely different story... but it end up with the 70% same story most of the time and that’s why IGN give a 8.8, but is still 9.5 for me, because Claire and Leon in the original version is exactly like this, and people should impress that these two different characters actually have different story and meeting different people. I heard that people are so pissed out that IGN gave 8.8 with bias... so they’re gonna remark XD

Yeah, but just like the classic one. The only differences were the scenarios, here merged in this new mode. I think the 9.0 is kinda harsh after that many good points.
me and my buddy are doing a full playthrough and i havent played RE2 is it necessary to do Leon and claires campaign? or will we be ok just doing Leons?
People!!! Don't pay attention to the score. It's just a number. Pay attention to the Review itself. Positives and Negatives. These are what matter. Thank you Easy Allies for the reviews you give us. This kind of review is what we deserve as gamers.
I am curious what held them back from an even higher score. It seems like reviews have nothing but good things to say, but do not give perfect scores. What held it back from a 10? or even a 9.5. Just curious!~
I'm glad they put some more use to blue herbs. They were basically useless in the original besides a couple moments with poison. I'm so pumped for this game.
BRUH, resident evil 4 feels like a lifetime ago, running around with Leon, no ammo, no health....brings me back to the old days (also he doesnt pick shit up with animations, its just so classic!)
Not 10/10? and from Huber? My guess is either there was some little things to nitpick from like the soundtrack not memorable enought, the street section being really short (1 min in and you are already on RPD?)or maybe some easter eggs missing like no Brad Vickers (I dont know if Brad is in or not, but I hope he is) and so on. Or the most probable one, the 2 campaigns being very similar even with zapping, the only difference being pretty much the Ada/Sherry interactions (hope not tho).
As much as I love the original, the Remake was better to me. Also playing this Remake with the OG soundtrack made me appreciate it much more. My 5th favorite game of all time now.

@Gemini I don’t know :) . I have just bought The digital copy from Microsoft Store on Xbox One :)
Not gonna lie, after watching the review I was expecting *AT LEAST* a 9.5
i can see why the game got a 9.0 tho... still amazing in my books! no matter the number, i think its the campaign's between Leon and Clair, taking the same path and you essentially meeting the same people but just with different played characters, and slight differences in branching paths with Leon being with Ada and Clair being with Sherry! but to me that isn't exactly bad.. it was pretty much the same take as the original so they didn't want to deviate away from that concept! but i can see the Dev side as well as the reviewer side of things so... 9 isn't bad tho seriously! I'm pumped either way to get my hands on this beast! i preordered the the RPD collectors with Leon's Statue! all aboard the hype train!
9 is still strong
@@emigoatnembestrapperalltim2281 you tell 'em
dude 9 is only 1 point away from 10
I got like 10 reviews on my UA-cam app but this is the only that matters... Been watching you since 2005. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
I remember watching the RE retrospective on Gametrailers way back when ...
Minor Spoilers:
One other thing that is kinda minor since most of us already know the story is that Leon and Claire's stories don't really intersect or impact each other.
Great review, your voice brings me back to game trailer´s times, that why I’m subscribed to your channel, also I want to play resident evil 2 remake, because I didn’t play the original so this would be a great introduction and will give me a reason to play the original.
The original is still so good if you can get over tank controls. Have you ever played REmake?
@@mileswilliams4807 I haven't played the RE 1 remake but I have it, I played killer 7 that has tank controlls and that doesn't bother me, I have to give those games a try.
@@DavMCycle Yeah man REmake is great! All the old RE games are really. This one is looking good too
@@mileswilliams4807 Yes it is, I will play it, but because there's a lot of games I will play them later, I have to experience the OG resident evil games definitely.
This is my first time watching an Easy Allies video. Great stuff, thanks! My initial thought tho was "This voice sounds familiar....OG GameTrailers.com dude???"
@@EasyAllies Fuck yea! Was a huge fan back in the day and glad to know the band is still together! A void has just been filled :) Wow I have a lot to catch up on -- time to dig through the archives!
amazing review!!
I always get a cozy feeling listening to this man’s reviews. Makes me think of G4 TV and the early 2,000’s. Love that old school vibe. ❤️
Noice! Already pre-ordered it on PSN, and will played it right when it becomes available. Great review as always, Huber!
The holy grail of all survival horror games.
“Feel and remember, every kill...” FEEL THE KILLS!
My first RE game. In just a few hours this remake will finally unlock on Steam! Can't wait!
Great review, Allies!
Late January's going to be one hell of a packed year.
I've got the deluxe edition digitally pre-ordered. Just have to wait 2hrs, 45 minutes till midnight and it begins...
The only review I was waiting for. Friday can't come soon enough!
Just played it back in April. Can't believe it took me so long. It now one of my favorite games ever. Freaking love this game.
Wow. Congrats Huber. One of your best reviews to date. Awesome way to kick off 200k Subs. Keep up the good work Allies!
@@GusFogle hardcore provides an epic challenge, and can add a good few hours especially if your not a resident evil expert like myself.
Great vid. Does the game allow you to remove the pops up that tell you where to go next ? I.e “head to the library 2F”
Can someone please kindly tell me the name of the music which plays at the end of the review when the score is given?
Thanking you ahead of time.
Alan Hansen I don’t know the exact name of it, but the theme comes up in the G Stage 3 boss fight in RE 2: Remake.
@@reneepeck8094 you are an absolute star! Thank you so much.
20 years ago, Resident Evil PS-1 game and graphics felt like this too, only because it was a game beyond its time!! I never came across such a good, creative story line with such good graphics! Second best for me is Dino Crisis.
I'm so glad that Leon still has the gangster shot with one of his guns. So fucking good.
Awesome review Huber and great delivery Brandon. So pumped for this game!
ouu, combine red and blue herbs for a defensive boost, I like that!
Good review guys, cant wait to buy this!
200K subs! GO EZA GO!!!
Great review. I do wonder about the adaptive difficulty. The same concept on other games hasn't worked properly.
Re 2 has a few other places then the RPD on the other hand re 3 is all about the city
The original also stuck in and around the station. Starting out on the streets leading to it.
The whole station is like a labyrinth puzzle to figure out how to get through. If I said anymore I'd spoil it.
@Space__Burrito
@Shawn Wax
Thanks for all the info. I'm still slightly disappointed that the game isn't as big as I thought but considering how the original came out about 20 years ago, I really don't have that much of an excuse to not know this. Still excited to play it though.
I love how each ally applies a general reviewer stance when submitting their scripts, that's why you are the best in the biz EZA!
Dang... watching these reviews make me miss the old Gametrailers/Screwattack days so badly. LOVED the review!
Perfect review .. Like always ! Good Job guys !
Where's the umbrella underground laboratory I tried to see video clips but can't find one for it.
So Mr X is like the alien in Alien isolation, always walking around the place, looking for you.
There was no criticism or anything negative in this review. I wonder what kept it from getting 9.5 or 10?
Around 1:40 or so, he says the two campaigns are a little too similar.
Even with that one criticism, a 9.5 would've made more sense to me. Oh well, a 9 is very good.
A mistake on the reviewer.
You got a good radio voice, SUBBED.
7:00 it's the zombie from the original marketing! Great call back.
1:50 "Yo, what game has Acid Rounds?" ~ Huber
Mike this Review is amazing wow what a Remake that is i cant wait to play this love and respect allies and huber
Let the Hype begin for the Kyle/Huber full playthrought.
Huber this is a very well written review. Nice work 👌
Just finished Leon's campaign on Hardcore last night. So good! 9.5 for me. can't wait to do claire hardcore too ;)
Huber finally reviewing re 2 remake I can’t believe it has finally happened after all these years
me and my buddy are doing a full playthrough and i havent played RE2 is it necessary to do Leon and claires campaign? or will we be ok just doing Leons?
Do both, but make sure for the second character you choose "second run" or else it will be the same.
I wondered were you guys went. I miss Huber-report!
People!!! Don't pay attention to the score. It's just a number. Pay attention to the Review itself. Positives and Negatives. These are what matter. Thank you Easy Allies for the reviews you give us. This kind of review is what we deserve as gamers.
Top quality review as always!
I’m just happy Tofu is back.
at the beginning of this video, anyone knows from where i can get that soundtrack !? i think it's G theme remade...
I found your voice sounds like the one did the review in the Game Trailers before.
Oh my god, it was you! Subscribe without hesitate!
Honestly the "short length" doesn't even bother me. Just means I get to play through the game that many more times.
Fellow 90s kids we are oooooold!!
BRUH, resident evil 4 feels like a lifetime ago, running around with Leon, no ammo, no health....brings me back to the old days (also he doesnt pick shit up with animations, its just so classic!)
I don't even have to watch this to know that Huber reviewed this and was probably dying with excitement.
On the score screen it lists the characters twice with "2nd" next to them.
Are there different playthroughs for each character?
no, they scrapped a/b scenarios
A/b scenarios are in the game. It's called second run now.
Not 10/10? and from Huber? My guess is either there was some little things to nitpick from like the soundtrack not memorable enought, the street section being really short (1 min in and you are already on RPD?)or maybe some easter eggs missing like no Brad Vickers (I dont know if Brad is in or not, but I hope he is) and so on.
Or the most probable one, the 2 campaigns being very similar even with zapping, the only difference being pretty much the Ada/Sherry interactions (hope not tho).
What music beginning and end Easy?
The only worry I have is that Mr. X shows up too frequently. Is this true? I pre-ordered despite this worry, ofcourse
Nice review, but but about the new soundtrack?
Is RE2 remake your celebration for 200K subs? If so than I'm satisfied.
As much as I love the original, the Remake was better to me. Also playing this Remake with the OG soundtrack made me appreciate it much more. My 5th favorite game of all time now.
I’m a little behind gaming-wise. I dk if I should buy this or God of War. Both seem like great games.
Is this the Game Trailers guy? Sounds so familiar.
Yes it is.
I already pre ordered it collecters Edition and all if you don't believe me I will do an unboxing of it on my channel.
