Hah! This was absolutely great! I subscribed to sketchbox and in the April box I got this set and I had no clue how to use charcoal so I'm like, "Off to UA-cam!" So here I am! Thanks a billion! ^_^
I love to mix the graghitints with the charcoal tinted by Derwent. The chestnut browns and reddish color add to the one set and the yellow and corally colors of the charcoal add to the other. They blend easily and beautifully as you showed.
Great video Cally. I have just bought a pack of 6 to see how I get on with them. I keep saying no more art pencils but it doesn't work :-). Love the steady background music/beat; so relaxing.
Hi, thanks for watching. I used a mixed media pad, you could also use watercolour paper or pastel paper if using them dry. Have fun with your new charcoals!
Cool! My local art supply shop has to order these Graphitint pencils, so I appreciate you doing this video. Now I have a better insight on their capabilities.
Thanks for watching. No, they are not like pastel, much more like traditional willow charcoal sticks. The colours are very muted, you won't get the bright colours you can get with pastels.
Hi Bev, thanks for watching. Yes they are fun, I can't wait to have more time to give them another go! The paper I used was a Gerstaecker mixed media A4 pad. I reviewed the paper a while ago and have used it a lot, you can see that video here ua-cam.com/video/edk8qmyRF20/v-deo.html I will give them a go on different papers soon as well.

Thank you 😊
Nice work! I am really impressed. I have vert little experience with charcoal, but I think I will give them a try. Your sketch should be on the tin.

Thanks for watching Jennie. I don't have any graphitints, but I am tempted to buy some now! Thank you for sharing that tip 😀
Great tip, thank you. I have the graphitints and have just bought a pack of 6 tinted charcoal to see how I get on with them.

I am so fascinated by these, and I can't wait to get in to my set of 24! What paper did you use?

in your assessment are they similar to pastel pencils in texture or pigments?

Interesting product and those look like they are fun to play with! What kind of paper were you using with these? Watercolor? Sketching paper?
