Thank you so much for doing this. There can be such a learning curve for newcomers and even people who’ve been playing for years, but never competitively.
Remember that everything in tekken is a mixup, and your opponents flowcharts will often bait downjabs knowingly to beat them and launch you for going for them, and your flowcharts should do the same. Knowing this mixup somethin like a downjab with the appropriate response to beat their mixup, if they orbital sidestep block it, if they sidestep do a move that tracks, etc, maybe just block, etc etc. So knowing when to do these things are vastly more important, so u want be offensive to have to do these as little as possible during times when u want to win, and knowing frame data and move animations, and predicting flowcharts, will let you know when to apply them, so knowledge is key. Keep in mind in longer sets players become stronger defensively against each other in proportion to their own skill, and realise that the inverse is that long sets, set up tons of bait that can be cashed in by either player at a moments notice, and capitalizing on it is the true meta of a 1v1 competition, he who sets up and cashes in his gamble faster and more efficiently wins. An example-- Armor King vs Kazuya Round start Kaz backdashes, Ak dashes up and df1 but its block be kaz backdashing. Kaz tries to df2 after blocking But Ak goes for another df1 and wins because input delay and online mode, kaz did not input df2 early enough. Ak is at -frames after kaz blocked his df1, and kazs df2 is only 1 frame slower than Aks 13f df1, thus something was bs and it wasnt input early enough. Next time kaz goes for a down jab instead after blocking df, a 3f faster move than aks df1, should interrupt through lag or any input delay easily, but now AK dashes in, gets df1 blocked but just blocks expecting kazs df2 to come out. Then kaz down jabs and is blocked by a blocking ak. Now kaz is at huge minus frames for getting his downjab blocked, and is going to get hopkicked when he goes for a ws12 after the minus frames. Why is that gonna happen? Because his flowchart is downjab...oh wait its too fast to confirm if it hit or got blocked for a new player, and hes just gonna ws12 expecting it to hit. So the weaknesses of players creep into situations like these, at the end and get u launched, so be vigilant on keeping yourself safe and not falling for quick bait.
Crouch cancel can also be performed by pressing back anyways, that's how I manage to never drop Ganryu's b2,1 crouch cancel combos, imo the easiest method.
hey im looking for general TEKKEN tips and i have found what im looking for. most videos are mostly character specific tips so this one is a great find. keep it up man... subscribed
YOUR VIDEOS ARE AMAZING!!! I am a total beginner and your videos have been key for me getting into playing and understanding the game. I also love your editing style and humor xD please keep making more!!
you are my favorite Tekken content creator. I really do love these videos. Could you make a video about escaping noob pressure? Like mashers, or people who don't ever want to block so they just attack all the time. I feel like my fundamentals are alright, but online I get blown up by Negan or Lei just doing shit I have zero idea how to deal with. Negan locks me behind slow plus frame moves that are scary to try and interrupt and Lei just has a bunch of nonsense goin on.
The ambiguity of when strings end is a real problem for me. I attempt to whiff punish but no the string still has one more part and I get hit. Secondly it's almost impossible to react to low mid mix up strings online.
Excellent vid, I've been thinking about making dick jab a regular part of my gameplay because of my inability to deal with rushdown characters, this vid pretty much confirms that I was right to consider I. Quality content as always
Sidestepping/walking after blocking 1-2 hits is also really good. Blocking is a very unideal defense in this game, but it gives you time to use other defensive options.
@@capnbarky2682 I'll have to keep that in mind. I play Yoshi so I get even more options when it comes to defense through his b3 b4 and flash. I've been noticing that whenever I use b3 or B4 to spin away that I could've used a sidestep or walk, but I've conditioned myself to use it as a panic tool so I've been trying to fight the urge to use it at times where I probably could've sidestepped
I feel like it may be helpful to rename the title of this video "Escaping Pressure with crouch jab and crouch cancelling". Just calling it escaping pressure makes it seem like more will be covered like movement etc. Also it feels like crouch cancelling might benefit from its own video. However I really liked the way you showed the exceptions to the crouch jab visually in a way that was easy to pause and look at while you were talking without spending a whole lot of time talking about it, I thought that was really effective and I really liked your presentation otherwise! Thank you!
Crouch jab into a move is quite gimmicky. Instead of having to learn the opposing characters' moves and properties, you crouch jab at the first sign of pressure? Crouch jab is a terrible crutch, and imo will make you a worse player for relying on them instead of legitimately improving your defense by learning character matchups (Frames, duckable strings, steppable strings) and improving on your movement. You can deal with most situations with just movement (backdash, backdash duck, ss block, ss duck, sw). And remember, competent players will make you pay heavily if they notice you use it as a crutch like that. When I see a player dickjab everytime he is under pressure, I just launch him with hopkicks.
I agree, but at lower rank play (meaning between juggernaut and genbu) there are a insane amount of players that use really absuable strings and really have no strategy outside of that. Crouching jab honestly pulled me up and out of those ranks with relative ease. It's amazing the amount of players that suddenly panic and have no idea how to react to it when their strings are being constantly interrupted. Eventually of course players should learn strings and punish when possible.
@@YouGottaShootEmInTheHead honestly I wanted to say from Grandmaster - genbu but most grandmasters I've come across ussually just spam moves that anyone with basic knowledge can punish easily.
Great video but I would title it "something something dickjab" since that's what it's really about. You go straight from "pressure is strong" to "dickjab is a good option" to explaining dickjab and then stopping.
Criminally underrated channel
Couldnt agree more!
i know it is kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good site to watch new series online?
@Caspian Xander I would suggest Flixzone. Just search on google for it =)
@Fernando Joseph Yea, have been using FlixZone for since april myself :)
@Fernando Joseph thank you, I went there and it seems like a nice service :) I appreciate it!
This man just pulled out From Seeing the Rough Wave track and the De Rol Le / Barba Ray camera intro. Unreal.
You have been uploading such high quality content. Much appreciated dude.
here after being decimated by hwoarang for 6 rounds in T8
This guy is the king of fundamentals guide videos
You can crouch-cancel crouch jabs by tapping forward immediately (d1f) while still maintaining your +6 with no timing required.
Youre a champion - your videos help noobs like me immensely, thank you
Thank you so much for doing this. There can be such a learning curve for newcomers and even people who’ve been playing for years, but never competitively.
You have no idea how perfect this video was for me after getting destroyed by a hworang mashing kick stance in Tekken 8
Always nice to see more Tekken fam spreading knowledge to those that need it. Gonna support the channel. Keep up the great work.
It's always a pleasure to see you upload!
OMG that pso1 cave boss battle music is EPIC!
Really hope this channel blows up. This is a great resource for the Tekken community
I like your approach to explaining how complicated this game is in short videos. Underrated channel for sure.
Finally a good UA-camr with a microphone. Subbed
Keep making vids man. These vids are so informative and concise which is perfect.
Your videos are amazing man, I've learned more about tekken with a couple of your videos than months of research on my own.

I pretend to crutch dickjab amd bait out a hop kick if not then i get a free mixup

Eh, it's okay to bait out stuff and as a rare mixup. It's not completely useless at lower ranks but eventually people will either hopkick or parry.
I just gotta ask, u from NZ?
A blueprint !! 👺👍
Awesome! Thanks a lot!
Cool stuff
appreciated
Great video but I have one question. How did you get the camera to move like that?
Also powercrush

Does Zug play Dragon ball fighters? Cuz I am Struggling so hard I may need some help
Nice vid 👍
How do you use free cam in tekken??
Low parry, guys :)
Ничего не понятно, но очень интересно
Special mid I love spamming this in training
I am here
Cool video but you didn’t really explain how to escape pressure lol. All you really said was ‘hey did you know crouch jab exists?’
I found this channel a couple of months back by accident adn I'm so happy I did :)
