I discovered this channel accidentally accidentally and I can’t explain how happy I feel when I watch this and a regret also as it was my dream to become a pilot. But I couldn’t pursue that as my parents were very apprehensive. So I became a doctor. I love my profession but my dream still remains. The captain and first officer are very cool and environment is very friendly. Whenever I fly to attend conferences and when the flight takes off I feel so joyful and exhilarated. It’s like Iam a free bird and Iam flying on my wings. 😊

Qatar Airways has the world’s longest non-stop commercial flight, a 9,032-mile (14,535km) marathon from Doha to Auckland, New Zealand. In a Boeing 777-200LR... The journey lasts 16 hours and 20 minutes and crosses 10 time zones, four pilots are on board, as well as 15 cabin crew, who serve 1,100 hot drinks, 2,000 cold drinks and 1,036 meals to passengers.

Depending on the time , nearby Hongchio domestic/intern has a lot of traffic and that is why there are many climb restrictions however does not seem speed restrictions. Flying often from Shenzhen to DLC means many ground delays in Shenzhen and after many trips best way to get to HK from DLC is daily nonstop Air China(low loads) as avoids SHA airspace and flies direct and over Taiwan east of Fuzhou and no restrictions. All other flights via Ningbo/SHA Qingdao/Rizhao/Yantai have delays.

IMO, they laughed for a different reason - they reminded the control of their current altitude, but were given VERY small increase approval + the controller also made a correction.
They were, I suppose, very close to their max weights, very warm and humid weather - not the best condition to expect high climb rate for any plane, not just A340-300/

I don't like flying but it facinates me. Despite his sense of humour you can see the concentration as they took off especially with the risk of aquaplaning. A pity more people driving cars in rainy conditions don't consider the danger. Love these videos. Help a lot with my nervousness when I fly.

It seems Shanghai micro manages their pilots. I remember flying Southwest out of Oakland. I was the only of 5 passengers on last flight to LA. Pilot said they had an unrestricted climb to 10,000 feet from the tower and man was that a fun flight!

They micro-manage the altitude in mainland china. I remember being on a flight out of Beijing that had to maintain 10,000 feet for like 10 minutes

Yes indeed,. . .this costs the airline additional fuel burn at such a low altitude, even for a short time, jet engines LIKE High altitudes and work more efficiently there. . .

Don't worry about it. It is very safe. You will have intial nervous ness. But once you do it. You will feel as winner. Have some objective about in your work and for that reason fly. You will feel proud of yourself and you will love it.

I don't know if I'm being too critical here but Shanghai ATC doesn't sound that well-trained. Random frequency calls, wasted RTF, odd phraseology and unnecessary instructions. Quite concerning really.

    • @dalewong7643

I think it's mainly because Chinese ATCs are more trained to be using Chinese. They use Chinese to communicate with Chinese aircrafts.

But if they're controlling at international airport, they should be almost fluent in English seeming as English is the ICAO language. If they don't know the minimum amount, then miscommunication would potentially be a big problem.

In Mexico too, ATC speaks Spanish to domestic and English to other aircraft. I think it is wroth to send pilots to Australia or US for training, but not the case for ATC. They don't have enough budget to train and spend years for them to learn fluent English aboard.
