Can you put the controller and phone away in a bookbag etc and still have it track you? If im hiking or biking and need both hands. can i take off the joysticks and just put it in the bag? thanks
Can the drone ascend while tracking? For example ascend from 6ft to 300ft while tracking a moving object. Is this possible? My decision to buy one heavily depends on this. Thank you.
These are excellent usage scenarios for Active Track on this drone and apart from what I’ve usually seen demonstrated! I think you did a great job of showing its intended use. Too many people compare it to a Skydio 2+, which is also excellent, but more like a like a faithful flying dog with great camera skills. I’m going to be using these as examples to explore AT on my Mini 3. Thanks!
What is not better on the mini 3 pro is the field of view of 82.1°. Mini 2 has 83.0. It might sound like a little, but it's still a difference. As a gift from above (DJI), you can buy a wide-angle lens (cheap) for the mini 3 pro and get a field of view of 111°, but a little blur in the outer edges.
Thanks. I didn't get to fly with the M3P much last year and today was the first day even partially OK for flying. The wind was too high, but I wasn't doing anything more than testing out active track for following me while videoing some dog training. WHAT? I totally forgot how to enter into active track, and burned through the battery goofing off, but not finding the active track options I knew where there. Thus, I came back here to find the obvious answer. User error. :0) I'd forgotten you have to draw the box versus open the option from one of the settings. I'm looking forward to the SDK release which per DJI should be early 2nd quarter of 2023, so pretty soon.
again, a great video! 2 comments: SMILE when on camera! You look very angry while walking on the hill 😉 2nd: your audio is very bad, the humming sound in the background and the total silence in the gaps are very distracting. Greetings from Germany, Uwe
Thank you Wve, you are right, that day on Mount Etna it was horribly hot I was feeling very sick, I even fainted a few minutes later. Otherwise in general I try to smile as much as possible in my videos, as you can see from the talking head parts. Regarding the sound, I have been having some issues lately: I thought that my mike was broken, but then I realized that the culprit is the electric supply in my line that is not consistent. To be honest I cannot hear the humming sound and the difference compared to the silence, although I am not very happy with the sound in my recent videos. I will try a different mike
In most cases people these days refer to "follow me" as tracking himself, without the use of the remote control, as opposed to tracking sport, action, or other targets
@@VICVideopIC Most people don't know the difference between optical active-track and GPS follow-me. In particular people who never had anything else than a DJI drone. DJI doesn't use GPS follow-me anymore. Because their costumers will think it will go around objects even without avoidance sensors and then ask for a new one if they crash it. But to me it is ridiculous that a 'backpackers' drone like the Mini doesn't have a follow-me feature. Unless you buy a third party app that isn't covered by DJI's insurance. I mean isn't that what bikers/hikers want, footage of their activities? Instead DJI cripples their drones by not adding follow-me. Or only uses optical active-track with obstacle avoidance which requires a huge amount of programming and processor capacity. As for the name, I don't mind people calling follow-me a way of tracking. But it is not active-track. Follow-me is GPS. There are basically two types of GPS follow-me: compass, and string. Then there is a whole list of what makes a drone a good usable follow-me drone. Sensors are not part of that list. Although if it has sensors then all the better. The advantage of active-track is you can have the drone track someone or something else. And from close range it keeps you better in frame. The disadvantage is like I mentioned the processor speed. And it can lose you. That is why people who have used GPS follow-me with the Litchi or Dronelink app prefer it over optical active-track in most scenarios. DJI drones are the best on the market. But they do not fully understand what the consumer wants. They should make a real small portable pocket follow-me drone with small controller. One that is safe and crash resistant. A 'tracking' drone that can be used in real life situations. And not a Mini drone that only does landscape. Why would I need a mini drone for that?
@@VICVideopIC I wish DJI would make a new Tello with it's own controller and SD-card slot! That thing is great for selfies while riding my bike. Nice and small, prop guards. Or maybe a Fimi A3 Mini? Best GPS follow-me drone ever made. Built-in screen is handy so the controller can stay the same. The Fimi A3 follows so accurate, leaves any DJI drone in the dust. But it is too big and doesn't fold.
Please give me in details how to set up or use ACTIVE-TRACK.
Thank you so much.
Thank you for sharing your experience! Don’t worry about the smile, your video is interesting and useful! As a beginner I really needed it
Interesting , and fasinating. I enjoyed it very much, lots of info to help with my Classic also. now to the Spotlight video thank you.
Sir, my DJI Mini3 Pro doesn't follow the subject in active track? what could possibly be the reason. It only focuses on the subject.
Can you put the controller and phone away in a bookbag etc and still have it track you? If im hiking or biking and need both hands. can i take off the joysticks and just put it in the bag? thanks
Great video. I don't yet have a drone but this video on using tracking with the Mini 3 is very inspiring.
Cool, but what’s the triangular object on the hill?
Cool video, like the little bit different point of view and impressions.
Can the drone ascend while tracking? For example ascend from 6ft to 300ft while tracking a moving object. Is this possible? My decision to buy one heavily depends on this. Thank you.
Yes,
it is possible, but you need to use Spotlight mode instead of Active Track.
Here I explain how: ua-cam.com/video/7eQ7ZsRVGmU/v-deo.html

Glad it was helpful!
how do i draw the box
Hi,
just by swiping a finger on the screen from the top left to the bottom right of the target
Hi. my hobby is rc plane..it ia possible use this mini 3 pro tracking mode to my rc plane while flying 😊.
Thank's.
It's possible for dji mini 3 ?
Greetings, what’s the max speed. I tried tracking at 25mph, does ok. I was really expecting 45mph in spot mode.
Thanks for your great video!
Very good explanation
Thanks and welcome!
Super clear ! Thanks
Thank you for this, I had no idea how to get it to work.
Maybe read the instructions LOL
@@markylon Quicker to watch a video, you should try to be efficient unless you don't consider your time valuable.
i always like your Videos and Views, Vic. You've helped me immensely being a virginal droner :)
Thank you lay,
veri glad to help!
Great video explaining many details
Hi , I can’t activate the track mode , I see the green + but not the 3 tracing options at the bottom
Very useful video, thanks for sharing.
where to put the controller while active track?
why does it need to be 30fps to active track?
super helpful
I had to figure out you need the grid on first
Great video! Keep up the good work :)
I love the quality of the camara, I am so ready to buy myself one of this beauty, I Had DJI Mini 2 but I want to upgrade to a better one.

Excellent feature 😎
I agree, a very useful upgrade compared to the Mini 2
Very good ❤️
Good video but audio it seems you are in the inside of a drum not so clear.

L'Etna è un posto fantastico e vola con i droni.
Very Nice explained you are a nice Teacher but Look please better in the camera Next Time Appreciated Believe Me
I love my dji mini 3pro. It’s quick. I’m a big kid old kid
great
Thank you!
Anyone on Android where it just puts the gimple down or up?
Came here just to find out how to activate it and know I know 👍🏼😊
You need to work on your voiceover audio. Its very booming.

My old Mavic Pro could active track with 60 fps.....too bad this mini 3 can't.
I don't believe most of these clips are active track, the active track on my dji mini 3 pro works nothing like most of these clips.
Minchia , Pino Daniele in balcone....
DJI 3 MINI does not active track people
Bummer
Very good Video!
