WOW ...NICE FISH...that big one was a tank...congrats on that catch... From my frozen ice block igloo on the mountain in grande cache alberta Canada 🇨🇦 D.
Great video, Andrew! Those epic catches are bringing back my memories of the old days catching those beautiful big girls through the ice. I am hoping I can get out a couple of times this winter and try bringing my 3 and a half year old at least once.
I actually fished it a little over a week ago for two days. My next video to the channel will be my adventure I had there. We caught walleyes, whiteys, burbut, pike and perch was awesome.
Just fyi, Quebec isn't the only place in the world you can fish muskie through the ice. Michigan has a year round catch and immediate release season for muskie. It is legal to intentionally target muskie through the ice in Michigan, but you are required to immediately release any muskie you catch. You can still take them out of the hole for a fast measurement and picture.
@@muskyhunter1535 nope, as a Wisconsinite I can tell you with absolute certainty that it is very much illegal to intentionally target muskie through the ice. Sometimes you will see people catch them incidentally while fishing for northern pike, but if you were to set tipups with baits this large on a known muskie lake in Wisconsin and a DNR officer checked you, you would certainly get a citation.
@@muskyhunter1535 Yes, the season runs until the end of December, but the verbage specifically states "open waters." Also, that only gives you a very small window of time most years, and years like this where we haven't even had safe ice yet this year would make it impossible.
@@CastandConquer I wonder if it's because of the recent boost of people targeting them at that spot. Very few people were musky fishing on ice a decade ago, now the spot is a shit show, especially when ice else is taking forever to form.
Yes better hookset by hand but also I have a pile of rods and prefer to run them on milder days when I don’t have to clean holes. Kinda expensive at 90$ a pop to run 6-8 ifish pros. But it would be the ultimate. When it’s milder I have rods stands with flags from HT that work great. I peg them to the ground and tie a tether from the rod to the peg just incase. I’d cry if I lost a tranx down the hole.
@CastandConquer Nice. I have never fished muskie....yet. but my share of bigger pike. I get that. I didn't mean you had to run all rods lol...that would be nuts but did realize you guys had Roda in the shelter. I just meant a couple amongst the tipups. Thanks
The mackerel fishery has a very low quota the last two years here in Canada. Very hard to find mackerel, normally it’s tough for me to find large suckers. This year was the opposite no mackerel but big suckers
Yes I heard that from my cousin. I was down in New Brunswick this summer and picked up 60 of them. But they're only 11inches. I have them seal in vacuum seal bags
The problem with a double hole is the fish has to much room. Making it harder to grab the fish and more room to bang around in the hole. A ten inch hole is perfect
What a monster musky Andrew....congrats
Be hard to beat this one weight wise for this season.
Alway's great to watch your video's . Good job Andrew.
Glad you like them!
Beauty fish...that 48 was a tank! Nice to see you really taking care of the fish too.
It was a beauty big fish for sure. Fish care is always number one.

Thanks man I wish we had igloo temps here in Quebec right now.
@@CastandConquer no you don't...was minus 46.5 here 2 days ago...minus 31 today for a high...lol

Andrew puts you on the fish every time! To bad this couldn't happen in Ontario though.
My man. Looking forward to seeing you again soon
You can also target Muskie through the ice in Indiana. We don’t have crazy fisheries here but there are some decent ones for sure!
That’s Kool to know
Came here to say the same about Maine. They just barely cross the border from Canada though.
heck yeah boys! love seeing so many comments too! Andrew you're a G! keep em coming!
More to come!
Man that musky fishing through the ice is absolutely nuts. Such a big fish!! Sweet video dude.
Appreciate it!!
Love this style of fishing!
I do too
Sick dude that you can get musky consistently on the ice like that! A real testimony of your angling skills!
Appreciate it man
Given that @uncutangling seems to be active again. How cool would it be to see a Muskie colab between you two.
It may happen. 🤞
Good job guys, super nice video, and some very nice muskies!!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks man
Sick stash bud can’t wait to see you down here on Quinte
See you very soon.
Insane catches guys!!
Appreciate it
Nice fish. Nice video. Why is the ice hole so small?
This is a ten inch hole. The biggest sized auger u can buy. It’s just a very large fish.
This is Canadas number 1 first place hand bomber amazing skills
Thanks my man been training along time 🥇
Wicked Video
Thanks man
@CastandConquer I am in Ottawa if you ever do a Sub video. Still on the hunt for my first laker
We are allowed to fish for musky through the ice in NB as well... we have some giants!
Oh I can smell a trip coming
Awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
Ever fish lake clear in eganville? Noticed you fish in the area on game of inches as im from Pembroke.

Also, there are places like Idaho that intentionally stock some smaller lakes with tiger muskies and have year round seasons for them.
Yes sir.. my brother guides in the U.P. of michigan.
Illinois, New Jersey, Iowa, to name a few others

sweet video man, what brand hooks do you use? i just bought some mustad standard strength 7/0 hooks, ever try those?
I had size sevens on some of these rigs. I like between a size 5/0-7/0
Great fish. Where did you hear that this is the last season for musky?
Musky Canada meetings as well as the ministry.

@phillumbroso4592 even three years ago there was only a handful of guys doing it. The spot has been over run with people not taking care of the fish.
Did you mention this is the last year for Muskie through the ice? When does the season end?
To many people doing it here now and not practicing safe fish handling.
Wich lake ??? I have a lot of big baits but in my region there's not enough ice :(
Ottawa river zone 8
@@CastandConquer thanks !
How do muskies taste? There is a lot of meat on them .
Never ate one
@@CastandConquer if you catch that many, you should at least try one.
You ever try mackerel from the grocery store
I used mackerel for years. Now that they shortened the season for the mackerel fishery they are much harder to find for me.
Can fish tiger musky in Montana through the ice.
Yes I know you can fish tigers in a few different states. But not pure strains
More u.s. states have pure musky than you think theirs quite a few that have no closed season on any fish let alone musky

Lots of tip ups...curious why no rods? Ifish Pro, Finnicky fooler, etc. Preference?
Much more agressive hook up by hand

@CastandConquer I believe I know the Ht your talking about. They work great! Tight lines and good luck with your clients this week!
@CastandConquer also nice to hear you have concerns on pricing too. Practical.
That’s definitely something I’d like to do, too bad it’s the last year this will be available
Awesome trifecta Boyz!
I still got dates available this season
Why doesn't he use mackerel anymore??

8-9 feet of water with baits 3-6 feet down
🐖 muskies. Great work gentlemen

Double that hole.. less stress on that fish banging his head on the ice
