I have been watching so many videos with Chris in them lately and I appreciate learning and understanding the differences (in headphones line). this is probably the best video I've seen in this regard. Thanks!
@@eLcHiNoChannel that is a great question because Tou start to get into the “law of diminishing returns” meaning the jump and value that the XC have for 1300 USD going to 2,000 dollar headphones only gets different and not really better. In the Audeze line up of headphones unfortunately yeah you gotta go flagship like an LCD 4, LCD i4 and of course the 5. Grabbing the LCD 3 wouldn’t be leaps and bounds better than the XC. If you don’t mind. Tell me your tuning preferences and with in the Audeze line up of headphones I’d be able to tell you your best bet. :)

I enjoy the detail and space in music. I hope that helps paint a picture of my overall preference. Thanks in advance.

Perhaps you should to a video informing folks about the latest 2021 revisions and pad changes to the lcd lineup including the lcd x and the benefits these revisions bring. I had heard through headfi this was in response to your testing and measuring via a specific microphone? And perhaps you guys found a better way to make the drivers without as much as much variation? Thanks!
Just got the LCDX 2021 …aaaand you need a Schiit Lokius EQ if you don’t do computer audio . And for those who say you don’t need it ..AUDEZE has EQ patches for Roon ……..
My goal is to buy, own a pair of LCD-2 OR LCD-X so fingers crossed 🤞 love the LCD-X So definitely leaning that way. Be a birthday present to me hahaha 😉🤣
Hi, you said that the 4z is an upgrade to the mx4 in terms of detail retrieval and resolution but you didn't talk about the tuning of the 4z! Since the mx4 has this more neutral flatter frequency response and tuning it seems like a great tool for mixing music or producing. But does the 4z features the same flat/neutral tuning too (but with better drivers) or the more audiophile tuning of the LCD-4 ? If thats so why is it in the reference series. Thanks for clarifying!

An LCD 4 in a magnesium housing that has the same impedance sensitivity and weight etc of the original LCD 4 but in a magnesium housing would be legendary I would take that and buy that because I'm not a fan of wood because the fear of cracking in the later years I hope someday you'll make that happen and put it on your website please that would be awesome and my new end game gaming headphones especially for the horror genre😉😉😉
All of our headphones will work great, it depends on your budget and use case. For professional use, the reference like here is a good choice for accuracy. For enjoyment the origins line might be a good choice, stay tuned for more on that...
Is the only difference between the LCD-4 and LCD-4z that its easier to drive? It sounds like its an easy to drive LCD-4 but i would expect a different frequency response as it is tailored for studio use
Both are engineered to sound the same, but it depends on how your amplifier interacts with the different impedances of each model. Also, since they're made of different materials, that does have a small effect on overall sound signature (but not really enough to measure).
Great video! First time in your channel. Wich headphone amp do you recommend to use with the LCD-MX4? Thanks in advance and sorry for my English i'm still learning Have a Productive and Healthy day!
Why is that 4z different than mine? I looks to have a larger weave and copper color instead of gold. Is this the 2nd generation model? Are they sonically identical?
I just don’t get it… all of Audeze HPs lack upper midrange quite noticeably, yet still they are presented like “reference” for production and “speaker-like”. Don’t get me wrong I owned 3 pairs of Audeze headphones (now having only lcd-x) and love them a lot, it’s just strange. Can someone enlighten me?
Chris says: Everyone hears differently, so there are always different flavors of "neutral." You should try the MM-500, MM-100, LCD-5 and CRBN headphones, all of which have a more pronounced upper-midrange. We're due for a new version of this video!
Which DAC and HP amp would you recommend for LCDX for pro mixing and mastering? I’m looking potentially into SPL XE ( or SE )+ DAC or maybe SPL Mercury...Any alternatives? Would that make a huge difference when compared to the HP out of my UAD Apollo X? Thank you
LCD-2s are definitely not obsolete, we still make them and sell quite a lot. They're in the Origins Line video here: ua-cam.com/video/ScIrKCU7CD0/v-deo.html
