    People usually forget the weight, they are less prone to rocking as long when you have all the weight down below for ballast rather than the outboard above the waterline.

      Absolutely. Weight makes a big difference. Lemondrop used to be a R23. She upgraded to the R27-OB soley for more boat weight to handle the rougher seas better.

    Is there a noise difference?

      You know... I should have mentioned that. The diesel inboard in noisier than the outboard. The Yamaha F300 is super quiet. Underway at 25 knots all we hear is the wind and water noise. We usually listen to the radio underway. Folks have told us the inboards are too loud to hear the radio playing. It probably also makes a difference with the outboard hanging way off the back of the boat vs. the inboard being in the boat, up against the cabin.
