⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 And… that's why we made Su-metal our queen at sixteen years old. : ) Her voice is even better now that she's twenty-seven. Su sang three solo songs that night. She did 'No Rain, No Rainbow', followed by 'Akatsuki' earlier in the set. I already liked BABYMETAL, but those solo songs made me a die hard fan. Dancing on a small platform in the darkness, raised up in the air demonstrates courage. Following up an introduction where each Kami Band member shows off their skills with a solo, shows total fearlessness. : )
Great reaction, thanks! The instrumental intro, "Mischiefs of Metal Gods", is perfect to show every Kami Band member's skills. And it serves to summon Su-metal who finally emerges from the depths ... well, at least from the bottom of the stage. 😁 This is the only intro song which has a name but they have several other songs with an intro when they perform them live such as "Catch me if you can", "YAVA!". "Awadama Fever", "Kagerou" and more recently "METALI!". "Rondo of Nightmare" is probably their darkest song lyrically. It's about Su being trapped into an endless nightmare, without any chance to escape, where she's chased by a dark entity as she tries to run away and hide. Finally she asks the entity to reveal its real nature before giving up. This was just the second time they performed it live (the first one was just the previous night at the same venue) and Su-metal, being 16 at the time, was standing by herself on a relatively small and elevated platform, without any safety and probably not being able so see a thing due to the spotlight. This is so freaking metal! This is one of what we call Su-metal solos. She has four of them. The others are: "Akatsuki", "No rain no rainbow" and "Amore". The "rondo" in the name refers to the musical refrain form. The typical feature of any rondo is the return to the main theme after each digression giving the song a dark feeling of moving in circles without any possible way out. One of the best known rondos is Beethoven's "Für Elise". The song had the tentative name "Kill The Alice" as Su-metal explained in an interview with RollingStone (April 2014 issue). Here is an excerpt: Q: Concerning Su-metal's solo songs we see that 'Akumu no Rondo' has been released as a new single. Su-metal: It seems my two solo songs are 'Akatsuki' and Akumu no Rondo'. 'Akatsuki' has the sense of being the 'redness of passion' (realize that Akatsuki means 'red moon') as is a song where I move around passionately. Compared with that, 'Akumu no Rondo' possesses the feeling of 'blackness'. The temporary title for this song was 'Kill The Alice' based on an image of Alice falling into a cave and being flaying around in the darkness. This is a story where it seems that something is chasing me (this girl) around in the darkness of the cave where I can see nothing at all. Most of the songs I have sung up to meeting this one have been passionate songs but this song has allowed me to try my hand at new ways of singing and I feel I approach this song with a new way of expression each time I sing it. See you at the O2!! 🤘🦊
Thx bro, nice reaction! Rondo is the song that makes the hardest metalheads (like me) kneel before Queen Suzuka! They showed what they are capable of, this is the heaviest and best metal ballad I have ever heard in my life! Babymetal is amazing!🦊🤘🦊
You should check out the lyrics. It's about a girl who is being chased by a monster she can't see, and then she gives up and asks the monster if she can see it one time before she dies. It's very touching and very metal at the same time.
16 year old Su, 2m above the ground on a rather small platform, singing her heart and soul out. This was only the second time this song was performed (it premiered the night before) but she makes it look like she’s done it 100 times already. Such a professional. This song is so dark and haunting and this performance at the Budokan is my personal favourite. Unfortunately, they haven’t played it since the 10 Babymetal shows back in 2021, so we would be very lucky to see it at the O2. Either way, no matter the setlist, it’s gonna be great! Next check out “From Dusk Till Dawn”, please, one of my top 3 Babymetal songs!
We could always hope that they "might" reintroduce the song for their biggest EVER UK headline show? It's gonna be a special occasion. Wishful thinking. But I'm crossing my fingers, arms and legs! 😊
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。There are 4 of Kamis on this stage. On Jan. 29 this year, I went to see a concert in Tokyo where 3 Kamis out of the 4 played : Ohmura (g), BOH (b) and Hideki (d). (Isao and Yuta were there that day, too) This is the song that I am longing for the revival with Su-Metal's matured rich voice. (Of course I love this version) "Rondo" is a musical form with a recurring leading theme. I can't tell how many times I have viewed this video. It is literally a rondo of happy dream for me. Kamis' (=Gods') super solos were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen (as of 2014) emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently with her penetrating voice then turned Kami Band's plays into a ritual to summon her.
I love this chorus, one of the most beautiful and atmospheric melodies I have ever heard. Unfortunately, they haven't played this song for years, so I'm afraid it's unlikely that you'll hear it at the o2. But I'm sure you'll have a great time nevertheless!
Hell yeah man! This song is amazing, and so dark too, especially for a Babymetal song! Hope you feel better, and have fun in O2!! Next suggestion - *YAVA! (Legend MM 2024):* Don’t use the official version, it cuts out the intro, where you get to see Babymetal’s new band, Kami West show off! 🤘🦊
Cheers mate. Feeling a lot better now. Think I recorded this just over a week ago 🤔. I don't think I've had that many suggestions for Yava (will have to scroll through my comment history) so will certainly add to the list 👍
Her poise, the self assuredness and total conviction is superhuman. Certainly for a 16 year old girl, at the time. Suzuka is a rare jewel, and there's a deep affection for her in me.
I'll be there in may, my first BabyMetal gig. Mrs bought me a ticket for Christmas and I cried. I did a video on my channel about going to see them. Cannot wait
Just watched your video dude 😘 And you should DEFINITELY check out Poppy's latest album Negative Spaces. Honestly, one of the best albums of 2024. And don't just listen to track 1, 2 etc and go "Oh, this ain't for me". I can GUARANTEE there are at least 3 tracks you will love, if not more. It's a metal musical jukebox and each track is different. Let me know what you think when you've had a chance to hear it in full. I'd seriously love to know. In my top 5 albums of last year. Alongside Babymetal 🤗
Yikes!! Sorry about your headache as have a bit of one myself lol. This does fix that a bit however!! Rondo is a masterpiece which is my go to for anyone still on the fence. Along with the very demanding Tales of Destinies. Which was a tribute to Dream Theatre"s Dance of Eternity. Which was actually done in two parts. Which is available on the Blue-Ray version of the concert. The second part of Tales being "The One." Which was performed at the Tokyo Dome as part of a 2 night special event. Which attendance was over 110,000 from the 2 night performances. "The One" was the track Su-Metal did as a tribute to fans for their support. As well as what prompted her to start learning English at the time. Which she is quite proficient at now after years of practice. Fox 5 NYC interview from a year ago was done in English. Showing just how far she has come here. Note: I recommend if you haven't already checked out Metal Kingdom from their January 2024 Arena show will blow your mind. Think Game of Thrones here a bit lol.🤘🦊 ⚔️🔥
Thanks for your concern. I'm feeling a lot better now as I made this video a few weeks ago. And I hope that Babymetal make you feel better too 😊 Plenty of tracks for me to choose from for the next reaction, that's for sure!

I completely agree with you about this one, although I think that despite the band being amazing Su manages to outshine them!!! I’ve got the whole concert on Blu-ray and it’s one those that if time travel ever becomes a thing I’d have to be there! Anecdotally, while Su was doing her solo songs Yui and Moa were in their dressing room doing their homework!!!
It's that moment when Su starts surfacing from beneath the stage on the riser after the Kami intro, and that intense look and fist bumping. She owns it.
I was honestly going to say coming from your older video if there’s where you said “I don’t really see myself listening to them on my spare time.” To go to “I’m seeing them live” is such a Babymetal pipeline lol
Hello, thx for reaction to Babymetal. If you wanna try a double react, you could check Akatsuki, a Su solo song, with the Unfinished version first, and the full version next. Both are fantastic and totally different 🤘🤘 And as you like kami band, you really have to check their tribute to Mikio in this video ua-cam.com/video/-jSZR9g-Y_M/v-deo.html (tissue alert)
I hate to break it to you, but its super unlikely that you'll get to hear this when you go see them live. This song has been out of the live set rotation for a long ass time. We're talking many years here. And when they do decide to dust off some old classics it's almost exclusively when they do multi-day shows in Japan. For overseas tours they pretty much always just play the newest and/or most popular songs. Once in a blue moon there's an uncommon song in the set list though, so the chances aren't exactly zero, but definitely don't expect this one. Now go check out my favorite BM song, "Syncopation".
Been a bit since you've done Babymetal it feels, obviously been around since the start, afterall, I was the one that managed to convince you to give them a shot haha. That being said, while I will not say the chances are none that this will be played live, it is highly unlikely as they haven't really done any Su solos or black babymetal songs in years. That being said, we still have a lot to get you through before you see them. Next I would say to do a double reaction. Either Karate music video and live @ Download 2016 or Monochrome Live @ PIA Arena and Piano ver. on The First Take.
5th December (or 9th Dec if you include the Bloodywood colab) isn't that long for me, as am busy making all the other videos 😊 But can understand why some of you might feel like it's been a while since my last BM video. Plus, if I give you everything too soon, there's no reason for you to come back 😁 I've certainly got a lot to think about for my next BM reaction. I might put it to a vote again, but Monochrome has been a reoccurring request since the beginning. Not as much as the tracks I've already done, but it's certainly up there.
Unfortunately, you won't see them perform this song. Ever since Yui had to leave the band, they no longer perform any of Su's solo songs or Moa and Yui's Black BabyMetal songs. We're all hoping that now that Momo is an official member, they'll start performing them again, but they haven't yet.
It's a shame that they don't play this, but we can all hope that someday they reintroduce some of the retired live tracks, not just for the O2 gig in May, but wherever they play.
@@melvinthinks Ofc not, it wasn't meant as an insult or anything ahah But 99% you will hear both Megitsune and Gimme chocolate And 90% you will hear Papaya, Metali, Ratatata, Road of Resistance, Babymetal Death and i would say around 50% for Karate, Monochrome and Distortion
They have not done this song since 2017. The band here, known as the East Kami band (Real Kami Band) Stopped doing intros in 2018.. They last played for Babymetal in Jan 2023. They band you would see is the West Kami band (Wish Version Kamis) who are American and started being used in 2019 and strangely were allowed to do intros, when the East was not. Their solos are not as strong. Much of their Epic Older stuff has been shelved with a few one offs at a Japan show. Overseas, its kind of a slimmed down setlist that is repeated at each show.
@@melvinthinks Eh I'd say this "(mis)info" is kinda odd, especially the part "strangely allowed to do intros while the East not" and "not as strong", as the East Kami band have their own work outside of BABYMETAL as a solo band they can't afford to always play for BABYMETAL as they are rotating musicians, the musicians have been changing since 2011-2012 and so on, there's also not any confirmation from any BABYMETAL staff member if there's a matter of being "allowed" to do intros lol, that is unheard of. I recommend you reacting to the song Kagerou where the West Kamis go pretty hard crashing these instruments putting you in a Heat Haze.
BM's set list has changed a lot from 2014 and I don't think you'll hear RON at the O2. I'll be interested to hear your review of the show and how it relates to the performances you've seen online. For me BM have lost something of the "power" and "edge" they had in the early years.
Well originally it was a comparisson, who is louder, but as the Kami Band recognized in a direct comparisson the instruments were not noisy enough. Our ears know enough physics to detect which frequencies are together and detect othe frequencies that stand alone, and these frequencies are selectivly amplified.
😅"hahahahaha!!😅 But ( Epicness.) Passcode for epicness or passcode band!! Very much totally owns this very impressive beautiful 🎃😍❤ made 🎃😍 name!! My great inspiring message for today!! Have a very impressive beautiful 🎃😍❤ day.🎃😍❤
Picking best vocalists and stuff is always hard because it depends on musical tastes and preference. I think Chris Cornell is one of the greatest singers of all time, and Freddy Mercury, for example. Whereas some people will pick people like Dusty Springfield, Aretha Franklin etc. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer. Everyone is different.

I've certainly got a lot to think about for my next BM reaction. I might put it to a vote again, but Monochrome has been a reoccurring request since the beginning. Not as much as the tracks I've already done, but it's certainly up there.

Hooly shit, your video popped up in my recommended and I clicked on it not knowing I'd be seeing Captain Price reacting to Babymetal! Cheers 🍻
I had to Google Captain Price. He definitely has more hair than me!
John Myung of Dream Theater plays a 6-string bass

Nice job👊🏽⚡️How about a vlog on your live Babymetal experience 🙏🏽🦊🤘🏾
Thanks and that's certainly my plan 😊 I've done several "first time seeing..." vlogs on the channel and I definitely wanna add BM to the list.
I've subscribed to your channel. Please be sure to tell me what you think of the concert. I'll be waiting🦊🤘
Thanks so much! I'm going to try and vlog it, like I've done for several bands on this channel. So stay tuned 😄
GD those dudes can shred
They melt your face don't they!
Yeah, GL with that: BM hasn't played this song live since 2016 😆
This is gonna be my first BM gig. I wasn't to know that was I?
@@melvinthinks Ofc not, it wasn't meant as an insult or anything ahah
But 99% you will hear both Megitsune and Gimme chocolate
And 90% you will hear Papaya, Metali, Ratatata, Road of Resistance, Babymetal Death
and i would say around 50% for Karate, Monochrome and Distortion
No problem dude. I read the tone of your message wrong 😆 it's gonna be great whatever happens and whatever songs they play.
See you at the O2.....
I'll be the little dude jumping around like a loony! 😆
@melvinthinks I think jumping around like a loony will not make you stand out.
kimi to anime ga mitai, Dude, a live on. do it.

Such a cool song! This one needs more reactions for sure.
This is interesting to know. Cheers!
I'm hopefully gonna try and vlog it like I have done for several of my other "First time seeing..."
Well originally it was a comparisson, who is louder, but as the Kami Band recognized in a direct comparisson the instruments were not noisy enough. Our ears know enough physics to detect which frequencies are together and detect othe frequencies that stand alone, and these frequencies are selectivly amplified.
As far as intros go, its definitely up there! 😁
😅"hahahahaha!!😅 But ( Epicness.) Passcode for epicness or passcode band!! Very much totally owns this very impressive beautiful 🎃😍❤ made 🎃😍 name!! My great inspiring message for today!! Have a very impressive beautiful 🎃😍❤ day.🎃😍❤
Cheers Charles 😁
One of the best 50th Voice Ever! ok 50? maybe 30? 🙂
Aroha ya se perdió este tipo de temas la Camí band nueva la kami band verdadera y metalera es esta
Or to be precise, you ask people if they are able to make Fourier Transformation. The answer is yes. This is included in our ears.
