Still can't believe I let that bucket siphon itself onto the garage floor! Here's when this Rambler first came home ua-cam.com/video/itnHOXWArNE/v-deo.html
I cant tell you how much I applaud your willingness to show how unplanned crap happens and how work and family obligations can really contribute to some of that: We all only have so much head space and it happens that life is not a perfect project process when we put family first! In addition you were brave to show how tired you obviously were. Lol, first time I have seen car work with a reflecting pool! It feels from here like you are putting pressure on yourself to get things done in a certain amount of time and I would tell you on behalf of all of your viewers to just not be anxious: you are engaging and we are with you! I realize there are "formulas" on you tube for "success" and I would suggest to you that your honest production value is sky high and draws people no matter how long the videos are and no matter how far apart they are and no natter how much you get done in a given period of time. This audience is engaged because of your authentic presenting: by showing yourself paying attention to budget and close to the edges of your frustration and tiredness, you in many ways give us permission to be human enough to screw up and keep going on our own projects. No matter what the outcome of this transmission work... Feel free to use the contact info I included in my note as it can yield you another trans if you need one, or some input to save you time before you dive into the American. BTW, LET US HELP YOU! .... u can add a patreon page or a buy me a cup of coffee feature or consider planning and announcing in advance you doing a live stream with super thanks activated so that we can all show up and help you with the money end to keep things rolling. Keep prioritizing your young one and it will all come out in the wash (except maybe that garage floor)
My dad drove a 59 Rambler classic 250k miles. The 196 straight 6 requires the head bolts re torqued every 10 thousand miles or the head gasket will eventually blow. The flash-o-matic required band adjustments and fluid and filter changes every 15k miles. Most people didn't do it.
That's very respectable keeping a car going 250k miles. I will make a note about band adjustments, fluid & filter. Thank you. I did the retorque & valve adjustment in this video here ua-cam.com/video/GjmPl1t33rE/v-deo.html
I learned to drive on my Sainted Mothers 1962 Rambler Classic, 3 on the tree, straight 6...it was a tank and so fun to drive.....as the front passenger door popped up in a hard turn!
Notification came while driving back from spring carlisle swap meet (where I only found one amc part.) Pulled over in a turnpike rest area to watch! So glad to see this progress! Stay at it!
I will. Thanks for watching as always. I’ve been using your advice. The next video is tomorrow on Sunday. I start the engine & prime the hydraulic system as stated in the manual. I’m curious as to what your thoughts will be on Sundays video.
Great job! I admire your persistent on getting the job done. Good thing the Rambler has great road clearance as it would be tough to get under the car without jacking the car up. Waiting for its first road trip hope it's a successful run.
'47 Ford...nice. Hopefully worst case scenario is the front seal leaks. The engine can come out in 30 minutes. Maybe I could do that seal from the front. We'll see. I appreciate you watching.
Well aren’t we have fun yet? And you have another amc to bring back 🧐 Been a single parent is not easy all the time. You are getting close to driving it.
That’s good to hear. I thought I’d get this transmission work done in one or two videos. It spiraled into several. Final video focused solely on the transmission will be released tomorrow on Sunday.
You really don’t need to flush the transmission on an old car. When that car was new, there was no such thing a flushing a transmission. You can just drain the fluid from the trans and converter, drop the pan and clean the screen or replace the filter (depending on the car), and refill the fluid. If you feel the transmission is sludgy, you can just drive it awhile and change the fluid again. Old automatic transmissions didn’t generate as much heat as newer transmissions so the fluid didn’t break down in them like they do today. It wasn’t uncommon to never change transmission fluid back then, and transmissions survived.
I think they used to put 258 straight sixes in those things same Moter they put in jeeps great moters anyway the bell housing off a 258 might fit that Moter I don’t know if they did it would be what to use for a manual.

Love the haircut, and the humor. Can’t wait for the next video (driving the car)
Glad you enjoyed it! We'll wrap this circus up in a video today. Then next for this car will be getting it out on the blacktop.

That’s neat. Thanks for sharing that. Can’t wait to see if my door pops open. It will be in a video if it does. Thanks for watching & commenting.

Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the nice comment. Today at 5PM CST the buttons on the dash get pushed.

Fingers crossed! I appreciate the thoughtful comment. New video at 5PM CST today. The transmission is getting buttoned up & tested.
I have done this! Yelling at you to crank it while running through the pump.
Love it when a plan comes together
Me too. Thanks for hanging out.
Just rebuilt the transmission on my '47 Ford sedan. Yea, pulling back the torque-tube axle assy. wasn't fun but doable in my garage.

Always use thread to tie the gasket on through the holes
That's a good idea! I need a roll of thread on the pegboard.
The best part is your garage floor won’t rust anytime soon! Hahahaha
One less thing I have to worry about! Thanks for hangin' out.
Well aren’t we have fun yet? And you have another amc to bring back 🧐 Been a single parent is not easy all the time. You are getting close to driving it.
Lessons learned on this AMC will applied to the next one. That I can assure you.
I was hoping for an upload today! Awesome! I like the way this series has been going!

9:35 ...11 times. 😅
That's awesome
Oh the time you would have saved if the 62 had a 3 speed stick.
I thought about that the entire time.
hell yea new video
Another video today @ 5PM CST. Pan goes on, engine starts & buttons get pushed. As always I appreciate you being around.
Looked like a murder scene under that car.
Pretty much.

The information is appreciated & can be applied in the future. Thank you for taking the time to leave a thoughtful comment.
Nothing like laying in an ocean of transmission fluid!
There really is nothing like it. A million times better than engine oil.
I think during this "After Action Debriefing" someone would end up a Private. 🤤
That's funny right there.
Put a straight drive in it
That would be nice.

I made a note of that. Could possibly come in handy one day. You never can tell. Thank you.
Almost painful to watch. It will be worth it when it's done.
I agree & I appreciate you watching the videos. I'm posting another video today at 5PM CST. The transmission gets buttoned up & tested.
