I buy the 50 pack of multi blades online for $25 bucks. The trick isn’t finding some blade that last longer, because non of them do (even the $17 dollar ones) the trick is throwing away your 50 cent blade when you need a fresh one 👍🏻

Hey handyman, also with those metal boxes proper “code” usually calls for you to “ground” the outlet box too. That’s why most of those metal boxes have a screw toward the rear so you can loop the ground around it before you attach it to the receptacle’s ground screw. I ALSO tape my terminals on any receptacle going into a conductive box because 5 extra seconds is worth never having an issue imo. 😅

I was doing some electrical work replacing a ground fault outlet and some outlets in a series. And they were older metal boxes that seemed much smaller then usual. Regardless, I learned quickly theres no harm in taping it when i shoved the new outlet in and it contacted with the box lol.

I look forward to your videos, i dont watch any other woodworking type channels besides occasionally Adam savage tested channel which i highly recommend for tool stuff he is a pro. I have never worked for a construction company only landscape, automotive, electrician being the closest. But somehow out of all my experience this type of work looks like the most fun or enjoyable being able to fix something new every day. im not sure if im just thinking grass is greener or maybe i want an excuse to buy all those power tools (i have an electrian bag, full auto toolbox, all landscape tools) You make it look like the best business to run as a solo guy compared to having a landscape company or even fixing cars. With cars you can get so screwed doing work that turns into a nightmare fast, but with this it seems less likely to happen. I always try to imagine how id get started doing exactly what you do with my slim to none knowledge on how houses go together only seeing stuff on youtube like watching essential craftsman and you. One time i replaced a rotted section of floor under a toilet, i plunge cut the floor with a circ saw to remove the boards down to the joists(?) and the best i could find to replace them at HD was plywood but it raised the floor by like 1/4" in that spot so i just ended up slapping vinyl flooring over the whole floor and called it a day since it was my fam members old shitty house lol what is the correct thing to do to match a really old floorboard thickness? thats the type of scenario id be worried about. like if theres some type of measurement you cant find the right thickness part to replace it with. You make it look easy because you have an answer for everything, but if decided to do a remodel like you, and i couldnt find a stud to put the cabinet in i would be freaking out googling it not knowing how much hack-jobbery is considered standard practice. like in automotive dealership every single mechanic uses a air gun to put on most suspension bolts, wheel nuts everything, they even have smaller air guns or electric to tighten small bolts because you can lookup the torque output on torque test channel, thats an example of standardized hack-jobbery because technically the wheel is not torqued properly with a torque wrench and they could be held liable if something happened. Thats why i think id want to join a company to learn the ropes the fastest but it is not fun "putting in your dues" as the bottom guy in every industry. I suppose if i watch these videos long enough i may learn the right level of hack tricks that are considered industry standard lol (no offense) thanks again for the great camera work and professionalism and honesty.

No grounding pigtail? The yokes are not enough since you may have to remove the recipticle then it's not technically grounded properly. I know I won't be the only one to comment but there cheap to buy pre made at the store and leaves your work above reproach if a inspector looks or insurance. Always protect yourself from liability and you are unlikely to have a problem ✨️.

Haha those bits always seem to go bad quickly. Any tips on where to get good ones that last Mr. Handyman? My parent has some of those and they try to just recycle them by repairing them as if the same as before but I don't think that's going to help it much. Not sure if maybe there is some way to recover how they used to be or maybe a place to get them a great prices.

Doesn’t the 2023 electrical code require peninsula and island outlets to be on or above the horizontal surface? It no longer allows them below the counter on the vertical sides. The licensed electrician who did my kitchen remodel explained that to me. I was surprised and looked up the section myself. NEC Section 210.52(C)(3)
The reasoning is that too many children, and passers by, pulled the cord dragging the appliance off the counter. I opted for the future provision option.

The receptacle is grounded through the receptacle yoke. If you look at a new receptacle, it will have two little plastic square "spacers" on the mounting screws. If you want to BOND the receptacle to the metal jbox, you simply remove these spacers and then the metal jbox is bonded to the receptacle.

Probably because it's in a peninsula and when the home owner shoves a metal pan in there they don't want it to shatter like plastic or fiber ones do. Or when little Johnny kicks the receptacle sitting at the counter the tabs don't break making the box loose. Pretty high traffic area so metal in this case is safer when you can tape the receptacle and avoid any contact with the box.
