Good repair handy. Based on comments you hit a few buttons on folks today. I work in several multi million dollar homes and money is not the issue for these clients. They want to know when I’m in there the silver is safe and they don’t have to lock the liquor cabinet. HandyOn!
Out here its either me or Illegal Mexicans. Most of the people I work for don't speak Spanish and are scared of them.
Here in my part of Texas, people will either pay top dollar for licensed and bonded/insured plumbers and electricians, and people/companies who specialize in only doing one thing (tile, drywall, windows, roofing, etc) and GCs who sub out everything to the aforementioned people, or they'll pay very cheaply for handymen who can "do it all" off NextDoor. There doesn't seem to be much in-between. Nobody here has any problem hiring the illegal Hispanics (or if not illegal, at least very little English speaking), not even for commercial, it seems.
Do licensed, bonded and insured plumbers and electricians charge what you do for electrical and plumbing work, Handy? Or actually, are you a licensed plumber and electrician yourself? Are they cheaper or more expensive? I'm just curious how the area you work in usually does things. It's very different from here.
That said, I think the cost of living difference here is a big factor. You can buy single-family houses here for like 240k built in the 80s (or 160k right before covid), so I'm guessing prices aren't near as high, and everybody has bilingual friends who can talk to the Hispanics or they're fine using Google translate.
@@TheHandyman1where are you located? These jobs are taken by guys quick by guys who can do it quickly and efficiently for about $300/hr. $150 just to step into the door
I don’t recall the designer saga… now I’m going to have to go back and watch. Love the video. Thank you Handyman!
I've been using the Dewalt floodlight for several years. I love it... This is the stuff. I usually do on a daily great video handy..
I have never had a simple and super duper clean sink faucet replacement. The last one I did involved me breaking out the sawsall tool and cutting the faucet in half because everything was rusted and seized up
Watching your under cabinet work all I could think of is wow, what a beautiful watch.
I thought I recognized that kitchen. I remember that remodel and your glowing reviews about the designer.
Thanks for the great content over the years.
Perfect timing…I was just explaining this to someone 🛠️🛠️
Nice!
Handyman! You can never have too many tools!
This video was uncommonly good especially the comments
Anybody else notice the review on that sponsor candle?
I remember that lady. I remember you complaining about the tile offset layout she conjured out of thin air.
I always find myself doing repairs in buildings that are 75 to 100+ years old. When I show up to replace a sink, I start out making sure the packing nut is snug, and I keep caps with seals in case the valve is leaky when I take off the hose. I also bring a small wet vac. Had way to many pipes burst while I was looking at them. Not working on them, just trying to see where the leak was.
Last night I just replaced same faucet 😂,can’t believe you charge $400 dollars
That’s exactly what I just wrote there is no way he’s getting business. Bro 150 absolute max
People think the rates are high until they have to buy a new truck. Or replace warranty work. Tools wear out. If you had to rent most of the tools used, it would be a fortune… Handymen are becoming higher demand.. the more knowledge, the higher the value.. don’t underestimate your work.. it’s a lot different than being an employee!
If I could buy a house for $800,000 or a truck for $70,000 maybe I could lower my prices. But the fact is a house costs $1.75 million and trucks are up to $110,000.
@@TheHandyman1 most people don’t live in 2 million dollar homes or drive $100,000 vehicles, I couldn’t get people to pay those prices in my wet dreams 🙄🤷🏼♂️
Only work for rich people.
Good job, I learned something! The weight on the sprayer hose helps keep the hose from getting twisted
and fall back into the cabinet.
And here I was thinking it was to pull the sprayer back into the faucet .
Silly me😂
Sharkbites rule!
I had to go back and watch again, but at first I thought you looped the pull out hose around the drain line coming out of the wall.
🔥🔥🔥
Third, just like safety!
There’s two types of people:
1. those who are jealous you can charge that much
2 those who want to learn how they can charge that much.
Oh, yea. I wouldn't even fit under that sink!
For $250 to change out a simple faucet, I'll make myself fit under that sink😀
🇺🇸🤘 Heck Yeah Handy Dandy 🤘🇺🇸
heck my area ir would have to pay them
It's call value based billing. Never think abour hourly rate.
I only use Moen faucets…makes life easier.
Moen is expensive trash. Delta is half the price and parts last twice as long
Knipex are great but open end wrenches do a better job and less likely to scratch up the chrome
No need to worry about scratching it. If its scratched no one will know or care.
Is that a Seiko? Really nice.
Yes.
What happened to the submariner?
👏👏👏👏
No silicone or puddy under the the faucet?
It comes with an O-Ring

Since I have everyone’s attention, how much should we charge for a bathroom remodel? SMALL BATHROOM, new cabinet, top and sink, new towel racks and tp holder and paint everything. I estimate $850, and then a 5x5 (25 sf) tile floor for additional $1650 ? Total job estimate to be $2500 ? Maybe $2350 ? What would you guys charge?
$1,200 per day for your time. 3 days $3,500 plus all the materials.
1/2 day for demo and prep for tile. 1/2 day to install the tile. 1/4 day to grout. 1/2 day to paint. 1/2 day to install vanity, toilet, new towel bars. 1/2 day for any other odds and ends. You will not always work a full day.
40 hours X $400=16,000
Did they pay that interior designer to design that backsplash too? I think I migh remember watching the video where you installed it and people were flipping out in the comments. Is that a Park Tools bike repair stand holing up that BMX bike? How do you like it? I'm in the market for a bike repair stand.
It is a park tools. I spent the extra money for the heavy duty stand. I can easily work on 80 pound electric mountain bikes on it. I have had it for over a year and have no complaints.
Lol i remember now because of the tile staggering 🤣
Bro if your charging 400 for a faucet install that messed up lol.
Is this the, build that wall build that wall, home? Lol
Too many tools... you're funny.
Og subs will recognize this house as the one the wife wanted to move but the husband didn’t.
those are some details I forgot about.
Jesus y’all, $400 an hour does not mean he charged $400. This probably took him 30 minutes. You do the math
2:23 You are doing my fucking work! I've been right here a thousand times. I need to start recording my jobs!
We're not getting $400 an hour for it. I don't think you are either. I didn't see any explanation for this job on your money channel. We're getting $118 an hour per man in Seattle for the same stuff.
Maybe you could help me get started recording by coming to Seattle and doing a job with us. We have a guest room you can stay in. It's just me (55) and my son (30) working for landlords in Seattle. We're doing a shower tile repair and re-grout right now. $5500.
I have dozens of videos over there on pricing. It helps if your have a formal education in economics and business management. Basic math skills help too.
@@TheHandyman1 Sorry for the abrasiveness. I meant no disrespect. It's too easy to get carried away behind the keyboard.
$400?! I did this a few months ago. My wife owes me some money!
Steve Lav trigger warning...sharkbite spotted
✊🤘🤙👍
11:00 Is that right? Well, if I can't fix it, it ain't broke. Where are you operating? I'm in Seattle. We only work for landlords and their agents. How about you?
My lord. Its like hownowners are scared of water.
Its more like that would never consider fixing it themselves. Just like they would never consider doing surgery on themselves.
@@TheHandyman1
Huh. I think replacing a faucet is a little easier than surgery on a human being...but maybe you're right that they don't know the difference :)
Help me to get customers New Jersey area or give me some advice how
Tell your friends and family you're in business. Do repairs for super cheap for a year. Tell every customer to recommend you to their friends and family. Once you have enough work to work every day of the year start raising your prices to meet what your local market will support.
@@TheHandyman1 thank you buddy I try :)
@TheHandyman1 slow down cowboy how are we supposed to charge so much when your telling everyone how to do it now!!! Lol jk I love that you help and spread the good word!!! 👍
And that’s what u said I exactly doing very good friends I doing for extra cheap
I go to the some city near me and putting my flyers to people mail box I put stick on my car I do my best hopefully god see I know he see guys bless u familys and good luck in life :)
You did not work hourly. It is not PER hour, merely a $250 job charge to exchange a fixture. I charge that, then bill an hourly rate for anything that is over my job time.
That is not my or your hourly rate. It is a job rate.
If the client added more work, i.e. a toilet valve or a leaking hose bib or maybe some drywall repair, would you bill $500 per hour? No, you would bill a job rate.
If they saw that rate billed hourly over an eight hour day for two or three days, I'd think they would have something to say about your 'hourly' rate.
Jees I hope you aren't responsible for those tiles in that kitchen. They look terrible
Lol the designer picked them and the layout, Handy installed
Not sure who your customers are but working in Manhattan with people that own $50 million brownstones I rarely see them being this generous
in fact they’re quite opposite most are always second guessing the cost and squeezing you for a better price
Yeah, nobody has ever accused New Yorkers of being nice or decent…. They can try and squeeze with all their might…. The price is the proce
Damn. Ain’t no one worth $400 an hour. Plummer would be cheaper
Not here.
Can’t get a licensed plumber to walk through your front door for less than 500$ where I live….
You don’t think a plumber would charge $200 to replace your faucet??
$400?! I need to start charging more for my handy services.... I would've charged around $150 at my current rate. Am i charging too low?
You have to know what that service is worth to your customers.
If you were to charge $150 and knocked it out in 30 minutes that’s $300 an hour. He said $400 an hour not that he charged $400
First
i don't think any one is worth that much
$200-$250 for a faucet replacement is a little high but that’s not crazy at all
I think people are foolish for paying you $400 an hour.
Its their only option to get the work done.
Insane indeed, especially for just changing out a simple sink faucet. But, these folks have money to burn, I guess.
If they don't know how to do it then what? Not use it? They aren't paying for the hr, they're paying him for his skill set guy. Doesn't matter how long it takes
A Google search says that job runs average $150 nation wide. Don't know where this guy is but Geezers
Do your market research not a google search.
You must not get business after ripping this customer off lol. I can tell your a complete narcissist to
If you are going to make videos clean your garage. You may do good work but i looked up one of your videos before i hired you i would pass and hire someone else just because the disorganized messy garage. If your garage is messy your work pr is too
First, I'm not for hire. I'm booked out indefinitely. This isn't my garage. This is a storage building that I have tools set up in for occasional work. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to afford my service if I had availability.
This handyman seems like the type of person that would scam seniors out of their money by overcharging.
Seniors Can't afford me.
How do you charge someone $400 per hour? 😳😵💫🤷🏼♂️
Plumbing companys in Maryland charge around $225.00 an hour. That moen kitchen faucet takes about 45 min
It took 30 minutes and I charged $250 for that 30 minutes. Its more like $500 per hour.
@@TheHandyman1 if you can get someone to pay that kind of money for 30 minutes of more power to you… I would never pay that much but then again I do stuff myself 🤷🏼♂️
@TheHandyman1 That's right handyman😂
None of my customers even own a screwdriver.
Why not just replace the leaky line? oh...i just needed patience
Why not watch the full video.
He did mention that he googled the part and the manufacturer didn’t even have the part number!
Why do all you contractors have this weird personality like people must bow to u
As a contractor.. 400.00 p.h. for simple plumbing is unethical
As a contractor.. We don't decide what rates the market will accept..
As a contractor in my area if you charged less you would be homeless.
Please elaborate.... I don't quite understand your statement... As a functioning business, you're more than welcome to establish your rates.. but that does not by any means make it ethical
I will more than respect reply..and wish you only the best
@@pietroantonelli6961 if his client base is willing to pay 400 an hour then whats it matter. Hes stated before most of his clients are repeat customers and they know his prices. Everyone cant charge that much, but it works for him. Hes probably not charging by the hour either, Needs to be worth his time.
