The improvised drain line with the plastic flex pipe is a work of art Handyman. I'm sure the unemployed plumbers loved it!
I know that feeling of only having $76 left after a $50k renovation 🤣🤣
Nothing is more permanent than a temporary fix.
eggh lol right on, I have many around my house. I used to be a CGM
I graduated from UA-cam Plumbing University last night after a couple whiskeys AND I am employed... This is a 10/10 would recommend
I'm not a plumber but that stretch made me laugh out loud
Nicely done Handy. For $2 more the upgraded faucet would have come with a bucket to catch the pending disaster. HandyOn! Can’t wait for the floor repair video.
Tip: Use a scissors type car jack to hold the disposal in place while you cinch up the locking ring. Makes that portion of the job much easier. Unless you happen to have 3 hands.
As a youtube certified master plumber with 5 mins of experience, I can't believe what hack plumbing work this guy gets away with
As Steve Lav says, “people always ask me why I wear gloves”
When you replace the piping You should explain to people why that doesn’t work. And how it breaks the vent once that pipe fills with water and starts going uphill. And do a full sink drain test both ways to show how much faster it drains and how it doesn’t glug down. I’d actually be pretty interested in seeing how much faster it drains before and after.
Pro tip… put the disposal in the sink onto of the drain to hold it in place while you install the snap ring. 😉
Yup!! I was thinking he need to weigh that down
I second that! I thought I was the only person that does that...
You still need your beer back, bud. Love you, man.
If you did the cabinets. You should have accommodated the drain height for that undermount sink! Come on na!! lol
Master plumber here! 🤣 A standpipe for a dishwasher is comical... Hey at least you can add a clean out👌
My MIL had work done in her kitchen a few years ago. Her sinks weren’t draining. I looked under it. Both sinks run to one tailpipe. The tailpipe runs about an inch uphill (and they were the ones to install that tailpipe). The dishwasher hose is fudged into 1/2 inch copper (reused from the job) that runs straight up to just below the top of the sink. Then it drops down vertically into ABS to the p trap but it at least is kind of level there.
That method of draining dishwashers is how most productions homes are plumed around here.
Standpipe gets you out of needing a high loop or air gap. Adding it to my list of details for my next kitchen for sure.
Because theres no air gap installed on counter
Cutting, gluing AND PASTING?!?! Holy mackerel
Assuming you and customer understand it's temporary and you have them promise to pray it holds together for the couple of days you need
Love the uphill accordion drain. That won't cause any problems at all!🤣
Those flexi pipes won't even pass code here. Learned that the hard way on an inspection!
I appreciate how you stated a dozen times on how this was temporary, taking a preemptive stance against those what circle.
garbage disposals who the hell wants all that crap going into their sewer and they always have repair issues, manufacturers list a page long of food particles that shouldn’t be put in them. By the time you sort out what you shouldn’t put in you can just as easily throw into a garbage bag😂. Great video and excellent workmanship 👍
Here’s what I, the master plumber who is licensed and bonded to my house, did. I put a double p-trap under my kitchen sink. The San-t was to low and in a super awkward angle. It’s been working for 4 yrs now. I do plan on remodeling in 2 month🙏🤞
I've had a flexible pipe setup almost just like this one for like 5 years with no issues whatsoever.
lol! I just took out a disposal and used one of these flex pipes. Works for my tenant!
Mine is going downhill at least. 😂
When you check the garbage disposal with your handyman hand.. I think i saw some water 💧 drips. 15:14. Also the Rollie's safety clasp was not clasped...
I just saw that. I must have caught it on something.
If 8-10 inches doesn’t work, you need a new partner. 😂
Not what today's videos about!!!lol love it.
I'm a complete moron and even I'm freaking out about that drain install!
I was cringing at the sight.. repeatedly saying "no, no , no, no" lol 😆
I thought you were joking about the faucet needing a charger. My God.
I was like "What did he say...?", then brushed it off until he mentioned it at the end and I was flabbergasted.
I used to put the disposal on the drain flange to hold it in place to put the snap ring on.
I had one of those flexable dual drain tube kits that i put on. Didn't last 2 weeks and the mice ate holes in it to try to get food debris and leaked all over and ruined the underfloorment before we noticed it.
I think I have that faucet , bought it from Lowe’s 75 dollars 2019 no problems yet
I had to do a very similar thing. Due to sink depth and the location of drain pipe
Home Depot insurance claim... Sedgwick has entered the chat!
Valid use for an accordion drain in my opinion (Master Handyman)
I have a question that seems someone else asked. Did that cheap faucet sprayer end, come with a weight attached to the water line? It should, because that's what contracts it back up into the faucet neck when you let it go after use. I enlarged the video to better see the lines when you held them in your hand and didn't see one. Did I miss something?
I have an Ikea vanity/sink in my bathroom. It has drawers under the sink and the drain line has to make a sharp turn to avoid the drawers. It came with a flexible drain line and that's what the contractor installed. It cracked after a while and I replaced it with rigid pipe.
Oh man I had to deal with some problems like that on a 100-year-old bathroom drain recently. Not fun. Novice question: what did you do about the shim behind that upper cabinet?
4:11 Yeah, me and the ladies at Ikea thank you for the tutorial.
The snap ring is our favorite part!
lol...this was great.
Holy sh💩t 🐄! $10k for each, counters and cabinets!!? Dang I guess I'm not installing those any time soon.
PS- all that work and they didnt want to paint??? And the Amazon faucet made me laugh, I knew theyd got it there 😆 they dont know any better though
It was $10k just to buy the cabinets and another $10 for the counter tops. That doesn't include any labor.
@@TheHandyman1 😱 thats insane! I wanted to redo my parents kitchen for them, thats a hefty tag though
The tops are a nice mid to high level. The cabinets are on the lowered end of mid. The cabinets could have been $15k with some upgrades.
Send it!
i have a flex pipe been using it for 15 years plugs up twice a year lol
Nice and tight. I have a rental that the drain is teed and is held together with duct tape. Been like that for years. No idea who did it, but hey...
I would love to upload vids,I'd have to turn comments off....Most uploaders complain about all the hate comments...and I would agree
Plumbing with one trip is wizardry
Use Flex seal.
I cringe when customers ask me to install no-name plumbing faucets, etc from Amazon. That snappy trap / drain geometry is going to leave that junk garbage disposal with standing water. I would have skipped the garbage disposal and temporarily installed a normal basket strainer.
Why cut corners and cheap-out on the faucet after spending all that money and doing the work.
🇺🇸🤘 Heck Yeah Handy Dandy 🤘🇺🇸
Newer handyman catching up with you, Handy Dandy 😮😮😅😂🤣🇺🇸

Isn’t the fact that the disposal drain port is lower than the sewer hookup on the wall going to cause a problem? In my mind, you want your sewer hookup to be lower, or even at least, in comparison to the water coming out of the disposal. I would’ve just cut the drywall back, put in a new sanitary T in the right placement, and eliminate that kinky hose thing.
Set something heavy like a gallon of milk from the fridge in the sink to hold the drain down while attaching the lock ring.
I have my girlfriend sit in it. She was not amused.
🤣
Meets California code no problem.
Hey Handyman! I'm just getting my business started, what would you recommend for me starting the business up as far as advetising? Word of mouth or google?
Word of mouth. I tried google and got a bunch of broke cat ladies.
@@TheHandyman1 thanks for the reply! I guess I’ll have to go knocking on peoples doors to start out
Tell your friends and family. Work for them for a discount. Once the words spreads it will be smooth sailing.
@@TheHandyman1 will do man! I appreciate it!
So you plan on double trapping the second dirtiest drain in the home....got it
Is that a Rolex 😅your wearing?
I guess thats what you call a "French drain"
13:33 no way it leaks
Also if it’s just a temporary setup why not just back trap it. With the p trap backwards. It’s not like it can breathe well with the way you did it anyways. I e been in that exact situation before and didn’t have a tee and that’s usually how I did it.
I had a name-brand touch-activated faucet in my home for a year or so before it started to activate without intervention. I replaced it immediately. Imagine if it did that while we were out of the country on vacation....
That was a Hack of a Job Handyman
I loved the opening statement!
Hello, I am trying to find an Olight discount code. Do you have a current code please?
You're begging us to read those comments.
If this was marketing, you'd be considered a master: get on the nerves of "unemployed master plumbers" so they can comment and have everyone else engage to trigger the algorithm.
You also left a bait for the next video concerning the floor gouge.
Genius!
There is no master plumber that is unemployed you don’t know what your talking about I’m dying laughing
@@onlymuds2 Buddy, UA-cam is pumping 1000's out daily.
I'm learning. Thanks for the comment.
You do realize almost every thing is made in China
No safety glasses ? Shake hands with danger
He did have his safety squints in the tool box.
I only use Moen faucets…cheap faucets ain’t worth the risk.
I always recommend Moen or Delta.
Can't believe they spent 10 grand on countertops and cheaped out on the faucet!
Also..that color? I dunno.
You set a bowling ball on the drain to hold it in place while installing the disposal. Everyone knows that.
It's all temporary unless it works
Why not run the drain down through the floor under the sink and reconnect to the drain line in the basement.
finished basement with drywalled ceiling.
I think this was the best idea yet and the most unfortunate response possible. 😢
It's a temporary situation. For a few days it's fine.
You deserve a cigar after this job
👍👍😎✌️🤟
well they are taking a bigger risk on an up hill drain
Even easier? Get rid of the disposal
The faucet comes from….CHINA.
The answer you asked for… no. Two day max just for emergency till Monday
A single drain sink should not have a disposal. Just my 2 cents
Its not that hard to cut a new san tee in, you got the rotary tool. Also should have been adjusted during the demo, SMH
I wouldn't sleep well but I'd send it for the weekend.
People complaining about handyman plumbing is just silly, you're not piping an office building with no plans here.
Im doing a redo in my bathroom right now. Why ? Because 1 faucet handle leaks. If it was a Moen, simple cartridge change. But it's not, it's Chinese crap. So now I have to install a whole new bathroom faucet because I can't repair the parts.Every water fixture in this house has had the same problems, with the same solutions.
Don't waste your time and money. Buy serviceable fixtures. I'm not even a handyman 🤣
I lived in my trailer 4 30 years an we gots a flex drane it go's upstream 2 foot threw da conter and out da wall to da gardin. Nots 1 drippy ever
Wow.....my brain.
That way I say evry sun come up
Wat
something looks wrong about this job
Fantasticly done wrong.😅
fantastically well-done Mr Fox
What a hack!
Im calling the police on you for domestic violence
Sometimes you just have to ride the lightening, Handyman...
Master of Disaster Handyman
👍
Wtf. Master plumbers at least earn their career, instead of just scabbing shit together. The arrogance of the handyman is really something. Just keep half-assing stuff together, we'll keep fixing it for ya...
Third
This video drained you
I never understood the whole 1 sink thing. To me its so impracticable. 2 sinks s much more functional
Depends on your preferred way to do dishes.
Disagree completely, unless you mean 2 full-sized sinks. Those split-sinks are horrible for washing large pots or pans. I mostly use the dishwasher for plates and silverware, so the sink is for handwashing larger items. A separate drying rack on the side (with drip pad under it) is far more functional.
Your incredibly condescending, if you don’t have time to do it right then wait. Charge people for a half ass job only to charge again. As a maintenance man I’d never ham and egg that shit. Good thing you don’t actually have a license
i recently removed one that was installed before the trap and was stanking up the restroom
