Went for a factory sleeper look for the build, runs mid 11’s with a 340. If I wasn’t all the way in Washington state, I’d definitely be at the no name nationals!

If you have Christmas tree style starting lights it's best to leave on the last yellow Austin. If you wait for the green you might as well look both ways before you leave the starting light also. It would behoove you to practice launching that car.
Burnouts are fun and cool. Getting loose @ the halfway mark at around 100 mph.. not so much. Drive it. A lot. Get as much seat time as possible. Get to know the feel, it's temperament, it's quirks. Every subtle nuance. It'll pay off when you do.
We've been driving it a lot. Shes got a few hundred miles on her now. We have a month to somewhat tame it and I think we'll have a semi-grip on her for the No Name Nationals this month lol
Any plans on a 2 door conversion over the winter or anytime down the road, to me it just looks so much better on these smaller type cars, now a big ole land yacht, 4 doors look pretty cool!!! Are you locked up to run anyone in particular @ NNN?
40 years of drag racing , I have NEVER been allowed on the strip with a cracked windshield. Island . Englishtown. Speedworld. DeSoto. Moroso. They've all tossed me for cracked windshields. (Why SO MANY cracked windshields ? Its what T-top cars DO when the torque hits !)
your launch is still not quite right, I'd try 4000 rpm steady, side-step the clutch. Just slip your foot off to the side and let the pedal go, as that is happening floor it, and be ready to shift... A line lock might be a nice tool to have too...

To judge distance with no tape ; if you have your friend run over to the corner of the parking lot and stand there. If you hold up your thumb and site in your friend and your friend is approximately the size of your thumb then he's about 150' away from you. 150' is half of a football field. This is a general rule of... I'm not going to say it.

If you kiss 2nd gear with the shifter before trying to stuff it in 1st, you should be able to find 1st gear a little easier. I bet those tornado warning horns are MOPAR powered. I've heard Bleach helps with tire smoke. 😎
The jet is sounding good a lit the tires up pretty easily. I did notice it only seemed to spin the inside tire when you did your donut. It might need some friction modifier added to the diff fluid. I know my car has to have it for the limited slip to work correctly and not burn it up.
First off, I like the new "recap" format of your videos. Second, don't worry about the advice from all the armchair racers out there telling you how to drive your car. It's a learning curve, and it's going to change with temperature, air density, altitude. Spending time with the car is going to be your best teacher. I used to race, the idea it to work out the bugs and keep the car in one piece until the money is on the table. Being cool and reckless doesn't put parts on the car or fix it when you frag something.
OMG THAT SHRILL after the burnout and the " OMG THAT WAS TERRORFYING !!!" was well worth the wait 🤣🤣🤣 WARNING IT IS MORE ADDICTIVE THAN ANY DRUG EVER! It won't be long and you'll be going 🤪😝🤪🤪 😁😎🤓 slinging gears gas and rubber everywhere. LMBOAO Now you have to learn how to keep it going in a straight line while shifting up with the rear end trying to pass the front end. It don't take that long to figure out though. I used to like to roll backwards a little bit and dump the clutch and lay down 2 J marks, but that does eat the tires a lot faster when you do it. Good luck and enjoy the races & rides to come, Guys because there will be more work to do eventually, but thats part of the addiction and well worth the struggle. You guys should put a line lock in the jet. Very simple to install and not that expensive. That way you won't fry your rear brake linings when you do a brake stand.
I would definitely try a curve shift handle. I think there will be less searching for gears. You could even make a bracket to to mount a switch on the trans with a light on the dash when it's in reverse. I have the light mounted in a gauge panel.I shift a M22 in my '55. Also THAT THING SOUNDS BITCHIN. I don't care what Brian says. Great job guys.
@@robertbriggs4176 if you just rev it up and try to do a burnout, say in a water box, you’re working against the back brakes with your foot on the pedal. I actually race a stick car. Once you feel the tires start to bite, you let off the button. It also helps to wire a 2-step up to the same button, so you don’t over rev the engine while doing your burnout. Mines set at 5600 rpm. I shift between 7400-7600.
We’re definitely open to more races! The ones we named are ones we each have contemplated since before the Jet was even close to finished, not the only ones we’re willing to do. We’ll talk in Sikeston!
11:45 Try turning the T handle almost 90 degrees,it feels more natural on the hand, at least to me. What I mean is ,if the left part of the T handle is at 9 o'clock position right now ,try it at 10-11 o'clock. Jus an idear from some yokel up noo yawk way.
Considering I wantonly sprayed it with a pressure washer and literally saturated it on purpose and all the water was repelled, I'm sure itll be fine lol. It driving in the rain is literally a last resort thing we would avoid unless there was literally no way to get anywhere or no time to wait it out.
You guys have likely heard this by now (or not). I failed tech one time in the 80's for a cracked windshield and it was a TINY crack. Is that still an issue?

after adjusting the dwell check the timing, depending on the compression , it should be 9 to 12 TDC at idle,

A line lock is relatively inexpensive and will save some wear and tear on things. Also, if you’ve never heard of them, check out a Verti-gate shifter.
