It’s been awhile since I filled out the adsense tax forms for youtube but looks like I had filled out the W-8-BEN form back in 2022. I just checked my last two YT/adsense payouts and looks like the tax withheld is landing between 20-22% so I guess I’m getting a bit of a break. Better than the full 30%. Might have something to due with who is viewing my content the most, US vs Canada vs wherever.
I filled out the forms wrong with Google Ad Sense!! For the past two tax years, they were withholding 30% despite me being Canadian. I'm guessing I have to file with the IRS now. Do you think I need a TIN for this ? I'm going to have to go see an accountant I think. 😅
Hi Tarapeutic. Yes, your only way to recover those extra taxes will be to file US returns for those two years and in order to file you will need to get a US tax number (ITIN). Don’t hesitate to reach out if you would like some assistance with this.
Could you comment on how taxes work when using pledge/donation sites like patreon to earn income for their work on UA-cam.? Does the income earned this way taxed as well or is it different because its considered a donation?
Hello can I report my youtube income without the 1042-s form from google? i deleted my google payments profile so i can't get the form but i have kept track of how much i was paid throughout the year

Well that completely answers why I haven't been seeing that 10% from the W-8BEN come off! Thanks for the info!

Quick question: Do you report ONLY what's on the 1042 form from ad sense? (In Canada)
You need to report all income earned from Adsense. This should coincide with what is reported on your 1042(s) however not necessarily.

Hi Moosesquach. Sadly, income from sites like patreon would still be considered income like any other and fully taxable. 😐
@@CanadianAccountants I should've guessed haha. Appreciate the response guys! You do excellent work, thank you!

Hi Chuuzu. Yes, you don’t need the 1042-S form to report the income. The form just helps you know what the income was.
