I NEED HELP WITH THE ROSETTA EQ ITS NOT SHOWING UP IN MY DAW AND IVE DONE EVERYTHING....HELP!!!
If this pod did 4 hour episodes, I’d still rewatch every single one as I do now. Thank you guys for making these. ❤️🔥
We got more coming we gotcha!
Y’all make me feel sane. I don’t know any other engineers or real producers IRL
From what I’ve seen of professional recording engineers they’re compressing the vocal through hardware as it goes into the box and then applying EQ and then compression down the chain. So from what I’ve seen they’re compressing the vocal first, lightly to control those peaks and it’s usually a transparent compressor, then EQ and then tonal compression
found your podcast this weekend and i’m digging every episode i’m seeing. y’all got some hot takes on some things where you admit you don’t know much, and it’s nice to see humility amongst fellow audio nerds.
on this topic, it’s simple. ask yourself what you want to highlight-both methods compliment each other so much that the question just cancels itself out.
This is been my new favorite podcast. I listen to every episode and always wish they were longer. Looking forward to seeing y’all really take off. The right guests could take this to the next level.
U r absolutely right we really want timbaland bad cause we ll ask the questions u kno we all want to know
Don't make longer episodes. Short and sweet will push yall further in a shorter period of time. This shit is perfect to me.
THESE ARE NOT LONG ENOUGH AT ALL.. AT LEAST AN HOUR WOULD SUFFICE
This is easily becoming my favorite pod!
Another great one from the guys I love this channel
As rule of thumb I'd say: Substractiv EQing mostly before Compression and Additive EQing mostly after Compression. Except of when you actually wan't certain Frequencies to trigger the Comp earlier. Then you might actually wan't to raise these Frequencies before the Compression for a good Reason. But it also depends on the Type of Compression you wan't to achive (Upward/Downward Compression)
I definitely EQ first so I can get rid of it all those problems and I actually learned that from dervon, and it just makes sense
1 of yall need to try akai mpc studio 2
I REALLY wanna hear your opinions on it I highkey love it
Mannnn!!!! I Love this podcast as a fellow nerd Thank you for guys!!!
hey man i really like your podcast keep doing the good work!
I personally use corrective EQ 1st
Then compress
Then add EQ for color.
My personal preference.
If it's Wednesday you know it's #MyAudionerds day.. Always looking forward for your episodes from Kenya.
YOU KNOW IT!!!!
i'm glad we giving virtual dj some respect!!
Highly enjoyed this. Funny and educational
You guys gonna get me so fired. I’m hooked!!!
I get so many gems from yall
yall should do a topic about marketing your music for people that have trouble with getting their music to new listeners
Use Logic Pro X BPM counter with Nectar 2 pitch correct “key finder” is the A1 find for setup
Serato’s on point with key and BPM. Like 99% of the time it’s got it. Serato Sample is a great plugin.
I MBC, then use Manny Triple D, then compress/eq or eq/compress depending on the beat or end result i want
Analog will always be at the front end of recordings. A 1073 plug-in doesn’t even sound remotely close to hardware yet..
Music recorded with analog moves me every time I hear it. Digital recordings move me for a couple days..it’s a feeling. I use both because of convience and price.
Yooo Sage Audio is so underrated, super happy they got mentioned
Sage audio is goateddddd
Sage Audio is amazing! I discovered Futuristic from their audio examples which is dope!
So true! I also got vdj just to check tempo and key..😂😂😅..now i use serato sample.
let the song tell you what to do, but personally I deductive EQ first before I compress. That way I get rid of harsh sounds first and the signal going into the compressor is clearer and cleaner.
You work outta protools bro😂 💀
He Smoked Me !!
I’ve never heard you guys mention any antelope audio 🤔 they’re pretty good
Roll off/cut lows before compression, any other EQ after.
Hilarious watching this Episode with my Novation LaunchKey49 sitting in front of me!!!
The eq before compressor is so the compressor will press that frequently more than others
"I had a friend of mine who was an edm DJ , imember..." 😹My man Devvon speaking a language of the Gods
That virtual dj convo was so important and triggering 🤣🤣
I do subtractive eq first before I compress
Im a UAD plugin user and I must say, they plugins are priced high, but on the other hand. They make up for it because they plug-ins are almost spot on with the sound of the hardware it recreates.
Hey im thinking about buying UAD stuff, but im usualy using waves plugins. Main reason is for my vocal chain but im not sure yet i heard that UAD because their preamp 1073 is so good. Is it worth it?
Keep it up bro love the diversity
Native instruments has the best controller/software package imo
Bro I would love to be on this show, I have a podcast myself and I would love to collaborate with you guys! Much respect ✊🏾
I EQ before I compress because the compressor doesn’t have to work as hard changes the whole feel of the voice🔥✊🏾
Sooo... basically, you EQ (get the sound basically correct and pull out the frequencies that'll hurt when too loud), then compress to saturate and then go back to your EQ to finetune it?
God, you guys are all over the place in your podcasts, i generally really dislike (chaotic) podcasts like these, but you guys somehow make it work for me and keep me listening right up to the end xD
We need a proper Logic representative on here!
Lmaoooo we give y’all so much flowers tho 😭
@@HelpMeDevvon That’s a fact! I just would love to see the dynamic of throwing someone new in the convo from a different DAW and seeing the debates that would come from it 😂
serato's grid is no joke lol, I didn't know how it actually works for the longest time. We can add up to 99 grid markers per song. and its smart too. It just takes a few tries to get how it works
Hot take . Started out using Virtual DJ, switched to Serato and used it for two years, an then switched back to Virtual DJ. Sure, Serato Stems is cool but VDJ's UI is better . Oh and btw... #ProToolsGang
YOOO VirtualDJ lives on my computer just for the BPM finder too 😂
Ljean threw Courtney the mean alley oop lmfao
The juice comparison part got me weakkkkkkkkkkkk
Can ya do a episode talking about the state of underground producers/engineers
Sure we can!!
Tunebat is my go to till this day. I use it to find the key of the song. I’m surprised it’s not underground as I thought it was 😭
I still use tunebat as well haha simple and quick, bpm is occaaasionaly wrong, but key is always on point, and if your DAW has 'tap to tempo' function you're set
@@Tai-Dyeyo I have a question about tunebat if you don’t mind?
FL ❤
courtney back let’s goo!

23:42 “Have you ever touched a neve 1073 by any chance? The FAMOUS pre-amp!” He said “I prolly like dragged my hand over it.”💀
Give him a pass lol I think he’s just a music producer and he’s young
@1:18 FLzeimer - incredible
EQ matters more on the way in to your Daw then it does in your Daw. That’s what people forget we EQd on the way in.
"VirtualDJ is something you can try very easily.
But if you play in club, its also amazing...
I was super impressed, its very cool"
David Guetta
Multi-platinum DJ & Producer
MOTU is the goat #ijs they gave you us the first midi 8x8 interface
But on the real “MixedInKey” is the A1 move now
I find myself eq after comp a lot of the times
Buddy was checkin his armpits at 20:08? 😂
UAD is great
Devvon U Said U Would Never Get Rid of the CLA 76
have u Tried the AVID ( PRO-COMP) ???
Nooo 😮
I can’t lie I EQ first on individual channels but on my master I’m compressing first 🤷🏾♂️
Back in school, somehow I was taught to compress before EQing because "the compressor can change the tonality of your audio due to saturation and stuff". But I've been EQing before applying compression post school days so....I guess it really doesn't matter lol. Yoooo, one topic you guys should talk about that's been grindin my gears is the concept of pre fader metering and post fader metering. It's been said that pre fader metering is for recording to check the gain stage of all inputs and post fader metering is for mixing. Personally, I don't see the purpose of post fader metering at all-like, why would I want my meters to follow my fader? But idk lol
Right I was taught that too!!! But I’ve changed my ways and I just use my ears
PRO TOOLS PROPHET
You EQ First
Compression is for final Dynamic Control
I need to join the podcast team I'm a studio one master
Subtractive eq > Compression > additive eq
if you print your compressor then you are compressing first
Protools where y’all at!!!💪
Right here!
I dunno where he heard Canadians dont like Minute Maid. Dont lie on us 😂😂
He lied to us lmaooo
“he’s rich”
“no i said it was too high of a price”
“oh I’m sorry, you’re a broke boy” 😂😂
13:45
LJ really not an engineer 😂 we still love you tho brobro
We need a guest host that is a logic user 😂
bro i’m downnnn wtw 😭😭😭 ik a fair amt about engineering and im lowkey nasty w logic
@@tjgeorges6331 Hey I don’t own the podcast but lowkey would be dope to have that logic representation one way or the other 😂
Camera Quality Dropped, ya'll good?
13:40
Maschine doesnt come wih a visual eq just wanna throw that out there.
Chris Rock you mean Chris Tucker Cuh!
