Quentin’s views on everything were always so diverse from everyone else’s but His always seemed spot on correct! He was fabulous- an unparalleled wit but always with a bit of a mad philosopher buried on the interior of his words!
Orlando is my favourite film. Despite its feminist leanings,It is NOT a polemic on gender politics. It is about actual feelings of real human beings. It gets to the heart of why hate towards any sex or sexuality is wrong. Inside our meat cages we're all just confused, lonely people who want love, something to stimulate our minds & something interesting to do. Men & women aren't so different. We bleed red, we cry and we all get screwed over by unkind lovers at some point.Orlando's self was not the body he/she inhabited. It was her soul, her mind. If we treat people as individuals & don't make assumptions based on gender, the better off we'll be.
I was perfectly content that Quentin Crisp played the part of Queen Elizabeth I. The only problem I had was the long hair style. She did not wear her hair that way in contemporary portraits. It was up on her head.

Right on!!!
Orlando is the best movie EVER, in my opinion.....
Brilliant casting choice, among other things. Sublime film. The film is better than the book!
Very interesting!
He was the best queen Elizabeth ever..

Look for the Rainbow Portrait (on display at Hampton Court Palace). Not quite the same as in the movie, but not completely pinned up.
Contemporaneous portraits....
The oldest gay man alive! Was!
Unabashed festival movie.
