It was magnificent! Thank you for ‘having us’ ☺️👌🙏 I loved that beginning piece, those incredible rhythms, and how you, Camille, explained it all so patiently to us. Another precious, creative idea born out of the lockdown years… inspiring ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Camille Bigeault is one of the few musicians who can play at the absolute highest level, both technically and musically. Her precision is mind-blowing. She literally floats through the different time signatures with ease. Some time ago I discovered her by chance on her Facebook account. The concept of a melodic ostinato with the TomToms and her approach to generating different time and groove perspectives by moving the other instruments had already left me speechless at that time. Another thing struck me. She manages to maintain the tension without losing it or, as is unfortunately all too common, switching too quickly into “escalation” mode. What a great musician.
I'll never forget the first time I realized my body began to play poly-rhythms. It's one of the best feelings a person can ever have. It was shockingly wonderful . . . almost like I was an audience to myself in absolute amazement.
@@fiddlestix3025 It was, and it was nearly 40 years ago . . . I'll never forget it. I've had two other similar moments. The last one was a couple years ago when I figured out how to make actual music with my electronic kit. The bad drum not only plays the bass drum, but also processes through a sequence of bass guitar notes. Other pads do the same thing and I figure out how to be a band all by myself. I was shocked when I figured it out. I would be playing with my eyes wide, mouth wide open in amazement over what I was hearing in my headphones. It was surreal . . . to be an entire band, making so much music and sound by myself. That E-kit had me playing things I have NEVER played before. I was playing things I never thought I could play.
@@fiddlestix3025 Wow. Well thank you! If you ever get the money, try to find an electric kit that plays different sounds that last for a few seconds each. For example, one sound may last for a few seconds, and so then you have to figure out the right tempo for that one sound, and then you begin playing the other sounds to fit that one sound. You might find, such as in my case, you're going to be playing like a 9/4 time signature. The left crash rim might also play another really cool sample to add to it, such as a sequence of horn samples. It will look through each note allowing you to be the horn section as well. Another might be a piano, doing the same thing . . . scrolling through a set of piano notes. It is UNBELIEVABLE!!! - There's one "kit" on my edrum module that is for Jazz drumming and holy crap . . . you will actually sound like an amazing jazz drummer. The bass drum plays the bass drum, but also 9 piano notes and of course, other pads play multiple sounds as well. When you figure out how to put it all together, you realize that you're a one man band. It is truly unbelievable. You'll be shocked, like I said, you'll feel like an audience unto yourself. Yes, you're playing, and you're making all of the music, but you're also amazed at what you're hearing . . . you can't believe that it is YOU making all that music . . . so you listen to yourself as if you're sitting in the audience. You will play things you have never played before! I promise!
That was probably the most beautiful drum playing I have ever heard. Something about that ride Belle and her hi hat work absolutely beautiful. Like a solid waterfall
Oh?! First, let me pick up my lower jaw from our dusty room's wooden floor. Camille reminds me of how art and voice, just to mention a few powerful elements, are integral parts of drumming and percussions. Breathtaking! 🌸
Rock Jazz drummer Billy Cobham comes into my mind .... Camille has also this energy, the punch and same the sensitivity and continuously the drive to push forward ... and patiency to develope a rhythmic concept . So lovely. Listening now 45 years to jazz ... and it never gets tired to listen to a new name on the firmament. Tks for sharing.
Camille is a phenomenal drummer and one of the great references for me today... She is also an amazing singer and great songwriter. She's perfect! Thank you Camille!
She's not just an amazing drummer, but also an amazing musician ! Great technique and in the pocket ! The ghost notes and fills are so tasty ! She got the theory down too ! Respect !
It's an awesome book!!! I bought it over a year ago, and it has a wonderful concepts and information that she makes easy to learn, even for beginners. Buy the book!!!
Wow Camille made that time signature flow and groove. Snare beats placed so well with that rim shot. Hihat skipping along and punctuated with bass drum jabs. Catches all the punches in the open section with moving tom tom fills. This is engaging to watch. I am not at this level. Nicely done.
Camille just became my new favourite drummer, this piece and her playing is exceptional. Props also to the quality technical video & audio production allowing us to hear this piece in absolute clarity.
If you notice the enjoyment that Camille has in playing in general, that is one of the reasons she is such a good player. It takes a drive to get there; a lot of hours of playing in the end. It's always nice to hear her play; it's a good counting exercise if you are a musician with a liking of the complexity.
omfg solid. her facial expressions say: "there's only one thing I care about right now in the entire infiniverse, and that is laying down the sickest beats you've ever fucking heard."
Wow I just ended the Drumeo (sorry...) video with Blake Richardson, and i randomly find this one right after!!! 2 hours of polyrythm feels awesome!!!! Never heard of her before, but now i'll start following!!! Phenomenal skills!!! Big up from France guys!!!
holly SHIT! Thank you Algorithm. This is beautifully done. Your fluidity reminds me of Gavin Harrison. Edit: had to laugh, My ADHD had me write this Immediately after the intro. Half way through "A book by Gavin Harrison" .. It's CRAZY how you can literally hear a drummers influences. Same with guitarists for that matter. Like, I can immediately recognize Chad Smith (LOVED him in ELF) , Vinnie Paul, Lars, Gavin Harrison, Neil Peart, The Rev, Portnoy, Mangini, Bonham, Purdie, and lets not forget El Estepario.
WOW !!!😮 Amazing command of time, rhythm and musicality 😅 Excellent exciting Drum player. Poly rhythms are one of the most difficult things to get your body to properly do as a Drummer. She is just absolutely incredible as well as quite a creative Drummer to write such a difficult piece of Music then to play it live without missing anything... Perfect🎉
Brilliant; thank-you DC, Camille, and Antoine! We'd easily fill a stadium with the info you two shared here. Enjoying this here in the humble home studio tapping along on my LaunchPad Pro. Endless props and wishes for immense success.
BTW this rthym is all around the entire Turkish Music History with 4s, 5s and 7s. We call it "Aksak", Eng. Limping. ps. (I have waited a short tenor saxo solo as an outro after distortioned guitar rhtyms, would be interesting with a jazzy fade)
Intriguing. I would have to take a very deep dive to learn to feel these grooves as natural and normal, like the much simpler 4/4 of 6/8. Very impressive !
Great druming skills (1st and last song.), feeling, very nice backround music. Real pleasure for listening and watching. Sound enginner well done job too cameras included. Thanks
Hi Camille, I like the sound of your drums and your playing is outstanding. Even though the complexity is high it is nice and exciting to listen to. Good work.
That was amazing, very mathematical, technical and nerdy. She needs to do a collaboration with Ron Jarzombek, his guitar playing is very similar to her percussion style.
i really like how you speak about the music and your lifestyle. and the music is awesome. the construction of the song is great and i love polyrythms :) i was a little bit sad that you have only one song at spotify but i know small and medium popular interpreters earn no money from that. so i can understand it if its a decision.
This masterclass was a real pleasure to do at the DC’s studio 🔥👌🏻 Thank you for having me!!
Awesome as always!

amazing inspiring talented passionated thank you !
Love your polyrimith style reminds me of Vinnie colaiuta. Keep going
If I only heard the audio I would think it was Gergo Borlai playing. Very impressive! Always a joy to discover talented musicians. Thanks for that!

The female version of Garzka. Incredible control, musicality, & independence. Awesome drummer!
Exactly 😊😊😊😊😊
Nope. She's no "version" of anyone. She's a great drummer. There's nothing in her playing that is remotely reflective of Garstka.
