YHWACH: THE ALMIGHTY | BLEACH: Character Analysis

- Опубліковано 27 вер 2024
- Yhwach is the main villain of BLEACH’s TYBW arc, which will be adapted in the new Bleach anime releasing in October 2022. In order to prepare for its release I will be breaking down and analysing everything that we know about the father of all of the quincy, and the son of the Soul King: Yhwach. He was a fascinating villain with a clear motive that he wasted little time to act upon, unlike Aizen he did not have time for tricks or mind games, he got down to business by immediately destroying the soul society and killing the head captain. In this video I will go over everything that there is to know about Yhwach, and hopefully by the end of this video you will understand his character better as well as learn some new information that you didn't know about him.

Keep in mind that the reason Kyoka Suigetsu worked on The Almighty Yhwach is because Yhwach visited Aizen and Aizen cast it on him *before* he awakened The Almighty. And we know that KS is everlasting (The Vizards are still under the same hypnosis from 100 years ago), and since Yhwach can't manipulate his past, he's susceptible to KS. Not to mention Haschwalth, Tsukishima, Uryuu, and Ichigo, all are contributing to Yhwach's defeat.
I don't know why people make a big deal about kyoka Suigetsu working it didn't save aizen. Yhwach stomped him anyway and if azien wasn't immortal Yhwach would've killed him. Azien did no damage to him even with the advantage.
Facts, Aizen is broken but people are forgetting Gin almost one shot him and Urahara sealed him with kido that wouldn't work on Ywach.
@@dec2567 aizen played more of a support role. So much so it went from yhwach absolutely obliterating ichigo negative difficulty to ichigo easily killing yhwach. Granted he could revive himself but aizen played an important role. As for him "shit stomping" that is complete bullshit. The only times yhwach injured aizen on screen was when aizen used himself as a distraction and when he caught aizen off gaurd when he revived himself. And you said aizen would've died if he wasn't immortal, a better argument could be made that if yhwach didn't have the allmighty and aizen weren't immortal, yhwach would've still lost but it would've been easier with aizen more than likely surviving.
@@dec2567 but he causes a distaction that allowed Ichigo to make time for Uryu to fire the arrow and kill him.
It was all about *time* , since Yhwach was about to destroy reality
@@dordz1021 so you're saying one on one azien can beat yhwach?
One thing I really liked about Yhwach was that he didn't underestimate his enemies like most anime villains. Kubo actually made him beat the main character with his full power and made sure the Ichigo couldn't use his full power against him. Most anime villains would allow Ichigo to go Bankai and be defeated but not Yhwach. It was annoying yet satisfying that he broke Ichigo's Bankai because that's what any rational thinking person would do in that situation instead of stand there and let him get stronger, just like he anticipated the shinigami would get stronger without their bankai and he had an answer to that basically militarily intelligence.
Could have executed it better, shown the ability/fight in a reality where they fight through Yhwach's future sight, and then return to present and break it. Really unsatisfying for readers no two ways about.
U kidding right? Ichigo got that plot armor thick af, yhwach couldve killed him million times instead saying some child in the dark ass crap and smhw decided not to. What a stupid character but then again, every villain is like this
@@xavielgaram not really
Im almost 100% sure kubo just didnt know what power to give to ichigos bankai that would make it so threatening to yhwaches almighty. So he just plotholed it out since he was being rushed to finish the manga.
@@adamrolston3552 So what was the reason it was NECESSARY for him to let Ighigo live until the final battle? If my memory isnt failing me he knew it would end with a final battle between him and ichigo?
The fact that Young Yuha Baha looks like Tensa Zangetsu is genuis

My theory on how he is the soul king's 'son', Ywach was the other half/negative aspect of reio's soul that could not be destroyed after his body got split into pieces by the founding shinigami clans. Ichibei stripped him of everything and rendered him into a vegetable state so that he could not gain sentience like the arms did, but everything changed when the early Quincy discovered him and gave him a Name.
Also kinda funny how ichibei talks about how names give power. ywach who was nameless was given the name of a God and his powers continued to grow almost to to rise to the level of his name
@@savage_Sloth90Very interesting theory you two came up with.
I mean everyone calls Soul King the Soul King but according to Kubo he had different name before.
Maybe that is how Yhwach was turned into Soul King (lynchpin) and Ichigo would be able to become too (+Ginjo and Hikone in novel)
By naming them Soul King.
Yhwach has seen the future and has made it so that the anime is a guaranteed banger
I'm reminded of what Hachi said to Barragan, "In the end it seems as though you shared the same concerns as most mortals, a desire to avoid aging coupled with a great fear of death."
This also describes Ywhach.
The King of Hollows is much like the Quincy King in that regard.
I had the same thought.
The two most opposed races.....Ironic.
He started at Ichigo's guide and ended up as his final opponent. The one to blame for his mother's demise. Although Ichigo moved forward he was there from the start to end

I want to know more about Yhwach’s relationship with General Yamamoto. They got some history.
I really wish the anime shows the battle they had 1000 years ago
If ywach is the quincy equivalent of Jesus then yammamoto is either the devil or the Roman’s that crucified him look at their relationship that way
This will more than likely be hinted and shown little in the anime, but it will def get more attention when the Hell Arc gets continued.
I wanna see the original Quincy war.
yamamoto was the greatest lock yhwach ever crossed and he lost badly. but then he grow and kicked him down like a cheap door
Something that I’ve suspected for a while now is that the villains of bleach - both Aizen and Yhwach - are actually the ones who are morally in the right when you look at the big picture. Yeah their methods are extreme, but their shared desire to destroy the Soul King system set up by the Shinigami and make something better is ultimately the right thing to do. The conspiracy set up by the five Noble Houses and Ichibei runs deep and has some very sinister secrets. Would it really be such a bad thing if Aizen or Yhwach got what they wanted?
I agree ss is a sinistire place that only cares about their preciouse balance even the soul king seems to hate them at least yuwach and aizen are honest about what they want and don't try to paint theire actions and goals as good unlike the ss that hides behind a mask of decency and ichigo is still fooled by it and think shinigami are his allies
I've been of the opinion that Soul Society needs to be destroyed (as a political/military force not as a world) since Rukia was sentenced to death and nothing has made me waiver in that opinion.
@@catsabotage3362 but it wasn't really the central 46 that handed down that sentence. Aizen had already taken control n had intervened n it was him that was pursuing rukia to get the hokyoku out of her gigai
Aizen and Yhwach's arguments are right, but the problem is that their personality makes them among the worst possible people to be in charge
@@redjirachi1 their personality give them the nerve to do all of this thing 🤷🏻♂️
Weird idea: Ywhach controls the future, Aizen controls the present, Tsukishima controls the past. All three were main villains of the arcs and their powers are central to the plot. It's only with past and present working together can the future be changed
Ginjo was the real main antagonist of the fulbring arc actually.
@@zemox2534 true but Tsukishima corespondents perfectly with them
Aizen also does the past tho
Well technically the future too due to his planning
Aizen does not change the present tho, KS is OP but is ultimately an illusion. Orihime's ability can actually change the present reality.
Aizen was and is peak Shounen Villain. Yhwach is going to be praised when he get's animated. Can't wait for the Quincy Warlord!
Especially if the anime can expand upon his character and backstory more.
Yeay.
Yhwach is so underrated as a villain. I actually think he is on the level or even higher than Aizen as a villain, since he was the one responsible for Masaki's death, and the entire anime revolves around Ichigo wanting to avenge her mother and having the desire to protect because of it.
Yhwach IS the most personal and important enemy of Ichigo, something that Aizen nor Ginjo managed to do.
Aizen had better execution than Yhwach, but a lot of that stems from Bleach at that phase of it's serialization being better executed period. A lot of the popularity and success of Aizen as a character isn't due to anything special about Aizen as a character, but by Kubo doing a better job in his storytelling while Aizen was active. If you break down Aizen to his component story beats, he's actually not a complex character, and is in reality kind of flat. Sort of like the mystery boxes in some stories like, say, Lost, where the mystery itself is what made the thing work. Aizen is like that - we didn't get much in the way of detail about him, instead we got broad stroke touches of his characterization that were shown in brief moments over a long period of time, but taken as a whole on their own they don't add up to much. The mystery and open endedness of Aizen as a character helped elevate him by playing on the success of his plot twist.
None of this is to say Aizen bad, Yhwach good, don't mistake that for what I'm saying. Aizen was by far the more well executed and realized antagonist of the two, but there's nothing deep or innovative about Aizen, is what I'm getting at. But a lot of people who really like Aizen as a character were young when Bleach was airing, and got their mind freaking blown by the plot twist in Soul Society in the same way that a generation ago, an entire group of movie goers got their minds blown by Darth Vader being Luke Skywalker's father. The specific way that Kubo utilized the plot twist literary technique to elevate his villain is the same way George Lucas utilized it for Vader.

Yhwach will forever be one of the greatest villains of all time for me. It's extremely rare to have a main antagonist who is tremendously powerful and who has truly righteous ambitions at the same time. What I admire the most about him is that despite him basically having been a god, he did not pursuit self-satisfaction - he always prioritized the safety of his "children" and the ordinary people. He wanted to create a world that would've been completely blocked from Hell not just for himself, but for everyone that wanted to live in it. He and Yamamoto were the only TRUE leaders in the manga.
P.S. I also want to note that his shrift not only allows him to see and alter the future - it makes any other power\ability completely useless against him as soon as he sees it in the future. That's why, for example, The Black Mausoleum of Ichibei and Kyoka Suigetsu of Azien (after Yhwach's self-resurrection) did nothing to him.
KS provided the false futures that yhwch saw
@@christiancsq because aizen used it on him before he awakened the almighty
Personally after reading the manga again recently i can't agree with the notion that he does thing for his children, Juha is a true sociopath, all he does is for him and only himself, Juha said he was a peaceful person and what he do is for the Quincy but guess what in the TYWB it revealed through Bazz-B and Haschwalth flashback that the war from 1000 years ago started by him not Soul Society, Yhwach don't care at all if Quincy will got annihilated or not if they raided the Soul Palace and when it failed he make it like it the Soul Society fault the Quincy is dying while in actuality its his fault in the first place that truly Quincy become thought as a treat to the balance of the world,
Now that Quincy lost rather than feel bad and try to establish Quincy through diplomacy and goodwill Yhwach instead try to do it all over again and essentially force the Quincy people to hide with him, Quincy in the spirit world is very much so exile that your avergae Souls, Hollows and Shinigami think they extinct thanks to them losing way back during the war from 1000 years ago, ultimately all this cruelness and merciless true nature of him personally shown on how Yhwach use Auswählen, in any other media a power to distribute power like Auswählen will be reserve on the most holy and good nature big player on a series, a power of ultimate self-sacrifice something for the good of the world, the power of people bonds, etc basically all those super postive thing either for the people around them or the world, on the other hand Yhwach Auswählen use in the most despicable way possible it actually look and sound more like power absorption skill that villain have to the point he actually kill non-pure Quincy because they not true Quincy for him, he also immediately use it to kill his own subordinate that like the non-pure one 9 years before didn't wish nor ask to lend their strength and life for him during that particular moment while relishing their power thanking them like they are his old comrade who gave him power to destroy a big true evil,
Personally for me, Yhwach is just a sociopath with a massive messiah complex, he a man that think he a hero or god the world need but never ask whenever if the Quincy actually need him, whenever if his action negatively affect let alone Quincy but his closest subordinate, or whenever the people of the 3 realm want his ideal world, in the end he a monster who think he can understand the people heart, an imitator that think he is the almighty yet the only future he see is his own future not the world
What noble ambitions? His diagnosis of Soul Society's evil was correct, but he ultimately was fighting against his own fear of death and because he was offended by what happened to the Soul King. The thoughts and feelings of others never factored in. They were just resources to him. Also, you can't say that he was destined to become this evil, since Old Man Zangetsu gives us a window into what an actually good Ywach could be.
@@MrGksarathy the actually good Yhwach would be a miserable looser that would’ve submitted to the current order of the three dimensions. The Yhwach we know was strong, brave and ambitious. The man who wanted to change everything, who knew exactly how to do it and who genuinely COULD make that happen. Whatever grim traits he had were the results of being the leader of the whole nation that was massacred and being hunted for centuries. More than that, he was eternally cursed since his birth, obligated to take others’ lives and powers to hold his own life and strength intact. No one would ever be a kind old man in his place, because that’s not how you win wars and actually change something for the better.
YWACH to me is the antithesis of the series, a stark contrast to the main cast who deals with strife and death and progresses through learning to accept death, YWACH is figure who's afraid of death and seeks to re create a world where it doesn't exist, thereby making people stagnant and unable to find the strength to move forward irrespective of fear (This strength is called courage).
also when people stagnate the system while having the overwhelming majority of the power, it prevents others from being a threat
This explanation of him along with that in the main video remind me of Madara's MO in Naruto. Both were OP af who seemed to be too preoccupied with the seemingly trivial ubiquities of death and loss.
You would think given their status neither would be fazed by those particular things but they are, *big time.*
Ichigo and his friends keep moving forward, but Yhwch stays in place. He never moved forward and remained trapped in the past and that is why he failed in the end.
You "death is good and or necessary" people are literally mentally ill.
@@zemox2534 what make he failed in the end is the plot hole make him can be affect by kyouka suigetsu while it shouldn’t be happen
Fantastic analysis! Kubo does a great job of visual symbolism and parallels with mythology, folklore, and religion. I also love how he "flips" things i.e. Yamamoto having the flames of hell and YWACH having the light and miracles of God. Some further things I thought were interesting as a Christian, is in Christianity a big appeal for Jesus Christ is he sacrificed HIS life to save all, while in YWACH's case he sacrifices others for HIMSELF with Aushchwallen. In appearance, motive, and ability he acts like the Messiah but is more akin to the devil because the most terrifying appearance of the devil isn't the red horns or pitchfork it's him appearing as an angel of light with sweet lies to drag you to your death.
That's why while ywach is based on jesus he ultimately is not him

Mr. Kubo is absolute genius when he was writing Bleach. The way yhwach parallels Aizen & Uryu is really something very few readers notice.
Parallels with Uryu :
Uryu was shot in heart by a Quincy to regain his lost power
Yhwach was shot in heart by Quincy to lose his regained power
Uryu regrets what happened in past & so his 'A' reverse the event that happened
Yhwach fears the future so inorder to avoid it his 'A' alters it
The Antithesis is the only perfect counter to The Almighty
Yhwach wanted to avenge his father & in the process he was consumed by it to the point where he couldn't care about his own subordinates
While Uryu didn't want to avenge his mother but what he was doing was simply fighting & struggling to protect his friends
Yhwach parallels with Aizen :
Both wanted to show the hidden truth of worlds in different ways
Aizen who wanted to replace soul king was left with loneliness
Yhwach who wanted to end soul kings humiliation ended up in his position
Aizen didn't try to remove death but became immortal
Yhwach wanted to remove death & had died
Aizen was a threat to corrupt SS system that no one knew
Yhwach was a threat to corrupt SS system that Quincy wanted for years
Aizen is mortal who entered the realms of gods & he couldn't find it amazing
Yhwach is immortal who entered the realms of human & his worst nightmare came true
Aizen is a Shinigami (who were called blancers of the world) wanted to balance the world as a god above it
Yhwach is a Quincy (who were cause for disruption of world balance) wanted to end the world.
Huge thanks to Mr.Kubo for making such a great series where things are so amazing. And thanks to Imran for such a Beautiful video explaining more about Yhwach
When Division 0 was getting all beat up and defeated, I highkey started losing hope for Ichigo and everyone else. Back in 2016 when the manga had ended, I felt like Yhwach was too powerful that even Aizen and Ichigo were struggling against him. He literally made me feel so helpless and hopeless for Ichigo as the mc. I'm glad that he was able to get defeated, even though the ending was indeed rushed with Kubo having to finish it quickly. :( I wish we could have had more background stories on how Ichihime became a thing and when he realized his feelings for her. Even Renji and Rukia would have been nice too.
Super interesting that when hollow Ichigo was asked who he was he says “I am who I am” which is what Moses is told at the top of Mount Sinai with the burning bush. This translate in Hebrew to I am God. The spirit King in a sense represent God, Yhwach represents the Son, and young Ywatch represent the Spirit. Otherwise known as the Holy Trinity.
Or maybe I’m overthinking 😅
In the end Yhwach was a true Quincy. Think about it. The Quincy fight Hollows to keep people from dying. They focus on preserving life rather than being involved with death and what happens after death. Yhwach creating a world without death is Quincy ideology taken to the extreme. That was one reason why I liked when his motivation was revealed, and also why I felt like it didn't just come out of nowhere. I was like "Oh well he is a Quincy, the father of all Quincy...a world without death, a world with eternal life even if that life is stagnate would be something a Quincy might go after, so that does make a lot of sense."
Well said!
He might be in my top 10 favorite characters when the anime drops. He’s a great villain and the perfect one for bleach’s last arc🔥

One of the best villans in anime history.
What was lacking was his screen time and Kubo time to finish the manga.
One of the rare anime characters with a good mustache.
His mustache alone can hail a 🚖 cab and rule the💠 universe 🌉.
The screen time can be resolved in the added scenes in the anime. TYBW is my favourite arc (even though it has a lot of issues), but if the anime fixes said issues by adding more screen time to these characters, showing important back-stories, and expanding some fights, it will be the best Bleach arc ever
Actually, the "orginal" text stated that Joshua healed the blindness by spitting in the eyes, but that would just be funny if as an infant he healed via spit ups
Truly love Yhwach. I think he is a villian that not only Bleach needed but many animes at the time of these chapters being released needed. Many antagonists at that time were being called "Warlords" or "Truly evil" but in truth many sucked or just failed. Yhwach is truly broken but that isn't a bad thing. We need to stop saying "That is broken" as a bad thing and start actually thinking about what Yhwach is. He is basically a villian or corrupted anime version of the Abrahamic God and thus he needs to be OP. The whole idea of being all powerful is being broken, otherwise it's just stupid. Dumbing down the power just because we can't grasp it within human understanding would defeat the purpose of the character assuming the power is being used correctly within the story. It's a philosophical fight not just a flashy battle scene that you can get in any other shonen anime. One of the reasons why Yhwach works is because he can actually bark and bite whenever he wants and because he can. He creates because he can, he is all seeing because he is a god, he can destroy the Soul Society because he is truly a monster. He is basically the traditional villian from the 80s and 90s that many modern anime fans never got to see or because they got used to seeing nerfed villains and thinking they are "good" antagonist characters. Heck no! Yhwach is the guy that says "Yeah, I did that, What are you going to do about it you crybaby?" I will admit that Yhwach does need more screentime prior to the invasion and so do the other Quincy in order to build them up. But other than that he is most likely the most powerful villian in the history of anime. At least on paper.
Oh he’s Broken but not as a bad way he’s just completely OP and hope we get more what happen in the hell arc
The reason why it's bad(I say horrible) is because not only was it convenient to see all through Ichigos attacks, he somehow didn't foresee Uryus dad bring in the Arrow, Aizens involvement and Renji helping him? It creates a relatively contrived and rushed ending. And truth be told the fight wasn't even that engaging.
He shouldn't be defeated that's the problem with having a broken villain his defeat was so stupid, got defeated by non godlike beings just proves he wasn't all that powerful, also his story isn't one of the best, he's just a broken villain which can get lame at times, also his defeat makes him look stupid he's so broken he shouldn't be defeated by that

Realistically, the soul king was a near omnipotent being, and Yhwach who inherited the Almighty should be of similar strength, and it would be unreasonable to expect any shinigami or hollow to be able to defeat Yhwach since they are basically 2 completely different existences, like a cat against a tiger. I don't think he engages in battle courageously or with cowardice. I think those terms don't apply to something that knows the end from the beginning. Or rather, something that chooses the end. They are simply unrivaled. Yhwach didn't choose to be so far above would-be enemies, that's just his natural state. Lowering his power so that others have a chance is foolish, so he wouldn't do so. His enemies' power simply has no bearing on the outcome of their conflict... until his antithesis comes into play.

I don't get why YHWACH's goal is undesirable. The Soul King kept balance by keeping the Hollows at bay from devouring souls. Peace was a thing. Feels like the 5 families just went greedy and created a universal dystopia compared to existence before it.

I fully stand by Yhwach's motives. SS are no saints, even people like Urahara for example.
Yhwach, in my head-canon , is the will of the soul king. The Soul King let himself be sealed away because he separated his will from his body and that's why Yhwachs body didn't work when he was born he willed himself a body, that was good enough to just survive, but it didnt work because his actual body is sealed (the soul king). When he reclaims his soul piece he is also claiming memories of that persons soul as well thus helping him build a suitable healthy body.
Hmmm you maybe on to something
Ichigo will definitely become the antagonist one day, based on the feats performed by his son, Kazui will be one of the candidate for the next soul king. And ichigo will finally understands the perspective of those who went against the shinigami, Ywach (the son of soul king who wanted the reign of the shinigami to be over) and Ginjo(the first substitute shinigami that grew to distrust the shinigami and was right to feel that way).
This is why Bleach is a true masterpiece. Ichigo always fought what he thought was the bad guy because the shinigami's said so. He always fight through battle and battle without actually knowing the entire truth. And every time he won against the big boss of the arc, he looked like he didnt really win the fight, because it wasnt his fight to begin with. it was the shinigami's.
If Kubo actually goes through with that it'll solidify Bleach as the greatest Manga/Anime of all time.
Ichigo needs to destroy the Soul Society, it's his redemption arc and his sign of having grown up all in one.

I really don't think Ichigo is unaware about the twisted plans of Soul Society. He understands the cost-benefit style thinking of older captains and knows that there are genuinely good shinigami who would give up everything g to do the right thing. Rukia saved him when she could have left him as collateral. Rukia and Renji joined him in rescuing Orihime. Byakuya changed his mind and supported him when he needed them the most. He fights on the side of Soul Society because of Shinigami like them. And he has absolutely no qualms about opposing the Gotei 13 when they get ahead of themselves. Ichigo is akin to a benevolent deity. In that, he is what Yhwach could never be.
I always thought that the Soul King allowed what happened to him because he wanted the people to grow and find their own strength and they couldn’t do that within the original world with him there as their supreme guardian god.
Oh yh you know he wants to be cut limb from limb and be trapped as a glorified battery I've heard a lot of bullshit in my life but this is top 10
Cant imagine he'd care much about the growth of the people who dismembered and imprisoned him
@@Bruh-ok1rq the soul king knew about the betrayal but he just choose to do nothing
@@Bruh-ok1rqI mean he was an all powerful God. If he didn't want to get sealed there's nothing anyone can do to tell him otherwise.
Thank you for the early christmas gift Santa @DBZimran. Gonna watch this video more than once.
ok so...they mutilated his dad then sealed him away for 1000+ years when he was a child
AND THEN CALL HIM A BAD GUY AFTER HE TRIES TO GET REVENGE?
Honestly, if Yhwach had the forsight to think "Uuryu has the power to one day surpass me... I should kill him before that power is realized so as to not jeopardize the upcoming plans." he would've won. He was an arrogant ass from the beginning.
I love your explanations and breakdowns, the depths you go into and how your descriptions are so personal that I feel it in my own heart and how Kubo’s creation is so broad makes me weak in nostalgia and expectations. I’ve had such high hopes in the future of this amazing anime and you really have only validated how I feel. Amazing job and I look forward to more content. 👏🏼✨💝
I still cant believe there's some people still believes that someone in Naruto can defeat the literal Son of God who can see all futures and manipulate fate itself, and literally named after The Hebrew God
I have never met anyone who says Naruto can beat Yhwach. Yhwach can even beat people physically stronger than him because of his very overpowered abilities.
Naruto vs Ichigo is a good fight though. You can get similar levels of scaling for both characters.
I don’t think anyone from Naruto can defeat Yhwach one on one but you can replace Ichigo with Naruto at the end of both series and Naruto can beat Yhwach same way as Ichigo did.
@@ChadKakashi
I've seen people saying that characters like Hokage Naruto, Adult Sasuke, Kaguya, Isshiki, and even some say Six Paths Madara can beat Yhwach. Yhwach stomps Naruto and Borutoverse all at the same time no difficulty.
@@ChadKakashi
I disagree. The only reason Yhwach lost is because of Haschwalth, Uryuu, Aizen, and Tsukishima. And there's Ichigo with the final blow, which is Zangetsu, as Yhwach had seen but he write it off as a dream rather than a future. Even if you extremely nerfed Yhwach, I just don't see Naruto beating him even with the same help Ichigo got
@@ChadKakashi 1_ They aren't similar levels of scaling, Ichigo is just stronger than Naruto period. Unfortunately many won't accept this fact even with official data books and feats.
2_ Nope, the reason Yhwach lost was cause of the arrow (which was what you probably were referring to) but it was Zangetsu that finished him in old Shikai state which is pretty special.
Grow up
lets be clear: he wanted to destroy all 3 realities he is a villain pure and simple.
So, worth noting, when anyone talks about the destroying the three realities, ending death, etc., they always leave out Hell. Which strongly implies that Hell exists independently of the three worlds being formed. We've seen souls only go to hell when killed, so it may be that You-Wack's entire plan was doomed to fail from the get-go.
I just wanna add the fact that YHWACH looks like Frederich Nietzsche, he even has his mustache.
Most people in the western anime community believe that the more OP you are the less interesting you are or that you lack depth. I couldn't possibly disagree more. Yhwach is a very interesting person with lore surrounding him that makes him more fun to watch upon re-reading the TYBW Saga. To have the unsuspecting mentor be the true villain of the entire series is such an ingenious idea and makes Yuwach's personality and ways of training Ichigo with Zangetsu make sense in the long term. Out of all the villains in Bleach I like Yhwach more than Aizen. Aizen is cool and a very complicated man but Yhwach has much more intrigue in his personality and history working for him.
The novel addition is key to actually realizing the brilliance behind Juha Bach
it’s a detail but it’s interesting: yhwach cannot fathom why a part of the soul king, mimihagi, would come support the three worlds, and not the desire of yhwach and the soul king. and yet, a part of yhwach himself did the same: the piece that lives in ichigo. it initially didn’t want ichigo to become a soul reaper, but as time went by and ichigo grew, the quincy in him learned to let ichigo be a soul reaper.
I really liked the arc despite everyone saying that it was rushed and to short but for me … no BS, no playing with food, “9 days and the world that you knew to this day will end” awesome !
In a way, ywach's goal reminds me of elden ring:
To make a world free of death, where ppl can just reincarnate and come back
Cant helo but think that it still gets me whenever I see his eyes. Makes it look like he's looking up, down or with derpy eyes before getting used to it.
Seeing your analysis and breakdown, I can appreciate as a character who has real ideals than a menacing antagonist (which he is)
Eeeey, I'm here early. Finally, 'been awaiting for another character analysis. I was binging through some of the other character analysis videos last night, and it just so happens that he decides to upload one this morning. What a neat coincidence!
I never understood why Ichigo's sisters were not considered impure Quincies.
Well they are the daughters of a Soul Reaper. And White was passed along to Ichigo, not them.
@@UnifiedEntity
But he's the son of a soul reaper. And her passing white along does not mean she stops being a Quincy right? She still was biologically a Quincy right? Or did I miss something?
@@ChasehaWing Her life was tied to that of a soul reaper. if not for that the hollowifcation wouldve continued hence why her she is impure in the eyes of Juha
@@UnifiedEntity
Yes but...her daughters would also be impure. Like Ishida's mom was also impure but still a quincy. Hence why she got shot. It should be the same with Ichigo's sisters.
...do you think Kubo forgot?
@@ChasehaWing Could have. But another thing to think about is her Quincy powers were now mingled with the hollow. And because isshin sealed it away and Ichigo being the first child, it's safe to say he inherited most if not all the Quincy powers and hollow. While his sister's, were spared that
The Soul Society is always the bad guy.
Was Aizen evil? Yes. Was he as evil as the SS? No.
Was Ywach evil? Maybe. Was he as evil as the SS? HFIL NO!
Well basically they are not evil
They just bear suffering the pain the world give them or the pain other people endure
It change them, make them decide to erase the thing make they or other people suffer no matter what the cost to do it
Yhwach wasn't ignorant you have to understand that he was alone throughout his whole journey. The Quincy aren't his creation and they aren't his friends either they only followed him because he could heal them and give them power which he could take away by also taking the receiver's life. There was no one to teach Yhwach everyone only helped and followed him because he was the son of the soul king looking to avenge his father (the king of the Quincy). You can see Yhwach dislikes everyone that blindly follows him without reason for their own cause, example Ryuke hated Yhwach, and look what Yhwach did he banished him instead of killing him and spared his son after killing all the other Quincy to regain his full power. Why because all of them had their own reason for fighting.
Ryuke wanted the Quincy to evolve in a different way(by being banished by Yhwach Ryuke could do this in peace, his wife died because she already devoted her life to Yhwach so that was her mistake so Ryuke had no reason to get mad when it was his wife who made a deal to sell her life).
Uryū Ishida fought because he was fed up with everyone keeping secrets and the soul society's disgust with the Quincy .
Icigho........because he is the main MC and he is super strong so it would be a waste but most importantly he is the unity that Yhwach wanted between the 3 realms of hollows humans and Quincy all coming together as one entity no more race no more dying no more being treated like food.
There was no saving Yhwach the moment he was born because his father wasn't there to raise him dus leading to the natural outcome > god will never understand mortals, that's why our God sent down Jesus as a mortal to experience pain and understand what it means to love and die a man. This is also why God stepped out of the big picture and told us that we have to first believe in his son before we can enter heaven. Jesus is the gateway between God and his mortal creation.
It was not until a few weeks ago I learned about the light novels "Can't fear your own world". Also gave me a lot more insight of what was going on with Yhwach.
Like both the major villains/antagonists.
-
Aizen being the playful and manipulating bastard that he is.
Yhwach just straight up being the business sort and not messing around.
-
Both have their strong plays and as you mention, Aizen was sort of fleshed out more and we did not get into Yhwach too much upon his reveal. At least not in the amount of dread and worriment we had when it came to the reveal of Aizen.
-
Still on the second light novel... So... there is much I need to look into in depth but your video has helped me get both a better understanding and to reread the volumes and final arc/saga just once more.
LETS GO! I SHOUT IRL ! Was waiting for it thx dear friend
That explains another thing too...
Remember the zanpakuto filler arc where they all got out and attacked their owner?
Yamamoto was away the entire time and he never laid eyes on Old man Zangetsu, thus being able to identify him..
Elaborate a little
@@barettoconceicao1372 in that arc, yamamoto hid and sealed himself so his zanpakuto would not be freed, he never saw old man zangetsu, who he could have identified.
In the arc the zanpakutos were "freed" and brainwashed to attack their wielders.
This video right here is DBZimran's Mona Lisa.
I love when any creator has a goal and a story from day one. I always wondered if they did. Yesterday when I watched the Pure Quincy, and was reminded of how Quincy kill not save them. And I went berserk, kubo told us yhwbach intention from season 1. To think he knew this and it was started in 2001 until 2018 how cool.
At 4:11 was one of the best Bleach takes ever. 👏🏿
As a devout Christian and a Bleach fan, I do see the similarities between the Yhwach and Jesus. However, I've always thought of Yhawch as a sort of imposter Messiah. Let me explain; a Messiah is, in the context of the bible, the savior of mankind. Yhawch simply wished to remake the world and free it of death, but at the cost of everyone but himself. Whereas Jesus did pretty much the opposite, he saved mankind from sin at the cost of only himself. Yhwach used everyone as a sacrificial lamb while Jesus was the sacrificial lamb. So if you think about it, Yhwach is a false Messiah because the only person he truly wants to save is himself.
And yet, we can still empathize with him. Great character all around and honestly the ideas and aesthetic is my favorite in bleach.
Damn the Quincy King truly is a final boss villian
I think his character was very well-made and finally understanding the story from his point of view makes you want to root for him maybe if he had gone about it a different way things could’ve come out a bit different
7:32
I interpreted that Shunsui scene not to be about the possibility of Ichigo replacing Reio, but more about the possibility of Ichigo becoming so powerful he couldn’t come back to the world of the living without destabilizing it. They were being given passes to the soul society, not the royal palace where SK Ichigo would be held. Plus the implication was “if Ichigo can’t come home, you guys can come see him still”. It wasn’t “if we end up putting him on ice, you guys can come check out the museum piece”.
The thing about Ywach is that despite his fairly noble goals, the man was fundamentally a coward and really only wanted peace from death for himself. I don't think he cared about peace for others, especially since the original world he sought to restore wasn't exactly a great place to begin with, even if you don't think the Shinigamis' cycle was worth it.
I always looked at Yhwach as Ichigos sword, so it makes sense he's battling a part of himself. Otherwise... he'd have to sacrifice his human/Soul reaper side.
I hope the anime explores more of Yhwach’s backstory and goals instead of just showing him steamrolling the verse.
I'm going to keep this short and sweet, while the rushed ending made it so that we didn't get alot of time with Yhwach I really enjoyed his character.
Think you make a good case Yhwach is a solid character in concept. But in execution, didn't feel any of that reading the manga weekly during the TYBW. Didn't hate the arc and even thought there was some interesting world building, but was rushed and lacked emotional resonance. Sounds like some of these supplemental novels help with that, so hopefully some of that gets incorporated into the anime adaptation.
The statement to Renji and Rukia by Yhwach, reminds me of The Empty in Supernatural telling Castiel that The Empty would take him at his happiest moment.
the best villen in all anime and manga
I call Frieza on that one.
final getsuga tensho looks better than his form against ywhach
Yep was waiting just for this, now may I ask for a soul king one next?
I always loved Yhwach's brutality and efficiency, can't wait to see him animated.
I had no clue bleach was this famous. I started watching this when I was like 13
I’m now 29. This is the first time i am watching anything related to discuss bleach and what’s happening lol super recaps. Learning some new stuff too nice nice.
I’m glad I went into Bleach blind. The reveal of Old Man Zangetsu being Yhwach was such a mind fuck to me and I LOVED this twist.
I just thought about a possibility in the Hell Arc: Quincies might be invaluable in this upcoming fight with their ability to actually completely extinguish souls, thereby ironically balancing out the current imbalance of power due to these powerful souls being cast into Hell... so maybe both Ryuken and Uryu will be able to be important players in this upcoming arc... oh and even Ichigo may have to tap back into his quincy powers again and maybe even Kasui may have a connection as well...?
wow, just wow. I never thought of it like that. Really makes me re evaluate his character
This was truly an amazing video full of great analysis and it made me learn more about Yhwach and appreciate his character even more. I enjoyed every second of it and I am definitely looking forward to what you post next
Starting with your Ruined Reputation vid my narrative dissection abilities have gotten kinda crazy. My English teachers and professors over the past year have been very impressed with my eye. I think I owe that to you. Before watching that vid I didn't fully appreciate or notice the details you did. Now I'm nuts over this kinda stuff. Thx man I love you
Mhm. Quincy Jesus
Btw his moustache grows throughout the arc. Of course Kubo wouldn’t forget that very important detail !
Aizen never lost to Ichigo he was training him for the final battle
it's crazy that yamamoto defeated someone like that
Love the philosophy behind the character and the story
I wonder if The Quincy King is not the Mind or Soul of the Soul king? We have no idea how he was born and the fact that he has command over the other parts of the Soul king is particularly interesting.
Of all I expected to defeat YHWACH is the actual sword that Ichigo gets trained by old man Zangetsu to find for searching the Bankai, even though Zangetsu already mentioned that it is his Quincy Power from their first met
BTW, I'm just curious. I hope you will tackle these characters as well soon:
Ganryu, Kusaka, Kokuto, Riruka, Senna, Yukio, Ikkaku, Yumichika, Hisagi, etc. Please see this!!!!
Yhwachs promise to return when ichigo and friends are at thier happiest might mean he might return at some point maybe after the hell arc
Couldn't the translation of yhwach 'the god who is awakened' also be interpreted as a god who has an active role. In contrast to the soul king who had a passive existence and could be looked upon as asleep. Yhwach tries to enforces what he believes is the right shape of reality because he was awake. Again, in contrast to the soul king.
What they need to do is have like a mini series, that is yhwachs past. Basically covering everything up to his defeat by the soul reapers.
They can use this to expound on his mindset and the reasons for his actions. As to the quincies and him self he is a hero doing good.
Exquisite video man I appreciate the time and effort that went into this. From one Bleach fan to another, I thank you..
9:50 is the exact reason why I think Old Man Zangetsu and Tensa Zangetsu were two of Ichigo’s greatest teachers. Even Hollow Ichigo knew that ferocity was needed by Zangetsu always out Ichigo through tons of extra shit to be top tier. I think it’s in the nature of the Quincy to have a fragment of Yhwach and because of that, they deeply understand exactly what it is that cripples their ambition since he got beaten by Yamaji once before 1k years back.
