    Lol!! Same with me.. I was never like sesame oil.. its too strong for me.. one time, I make one of your kimbab recipe, I forced myself to eat and later that day, i got fever coz I eat too much even if I can’t take the smell (sensitive nose). But today, there’s sesame oil in my pantry...😂😂😂

    I just got all my kids ready for bed and my three year old climbed up beside me and asked to watch a video. I asked him what he wanted to watch and he said "Maangchi!" So here we are. lol When Maangchi gave her greeting he said, "Why can we never go visit her at her house?"

    Beautiful! But don't forget to remind your viewrs NOT to throw away the precious and delicious lobster shell! Just fry it up with ginger, green oinion and garlic until aromatic and then transfer to a pot and cover with water. Let simmer for 30 minutes and you have a wonderful soup base for bisque, or seafood with udon! No need for store bought packets or powders. Just the real deal from the sea!

    I'm from Downeast Maine, where lobstering is prevalent, and it does my heart good to see someone prepare a lobster properly! Too often I see folks throw out the head, mid-section, legs, and tomalley, which is a shame. As an aside tomalley is basically the lobster's liver, so a lot of people don't eat it for that reason. Nice job on getting it right! :)

    Dear Maangchi...once again, you are super!!! I tried making this but without lobster---no $$ for it right now. I used jumbo shrimp that I poached and then sliced them lengthwise. Since I had no danmuji, I made a "quick pickle" of yellow squash (rice wine vinegar, sugar, crushed red pepper flakes, and garlic)--only let it marinate(scraped out the seeds) for 40 minutes since the squash is sorta of flimsy. Used nori since that's what was on hand and it was easy with my sushi mat. I made a dipping sauce with soy, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. YUM!!! Thanks for the inspiration. You're never disappoint. I love your videos and recipes. Thanks, again!

    Restaurants skewer the tail so it cooks straight. Yes, it's done while the lobster is alive. It keeps the tail straight and cooks it evenly. Also if you use a rolling pin you can get the "lobster fries" out of the tiny legs. It's more efficient than just using your fingers. Where I live in California we're known for our Dungeness crab. I'm so going to make this with crab! I love Maangchi!

    You came to Maine?!? I live here in Maine and just went to the Ocean Market in Portland today to collect ingredients to make some of your foods! I hope you had a wonderful visit: if you come back please have a meet up! Thanks!

      ferretmaster62 I had a great time in your city, I will definitely come again. Does Ocean Market have Korean ingredients? Or fish?

      Maangchi Hello! The Ocean Market has ingredients: i did not see any fresh meat being sold there. There are at least 4 Asian markets in town.

      +julie miller is there a taste difference between male and female lobsters

    • @juliemiller5781
      @juliemiller5781 8 років тому

      MissIKnowAThingOrTwo i dont tast the difference-- but the female has the delious red row that the male doesnt have in the tail

    • @foodiedna126
      @foodiedna126 8 років тому

      +julie miller I kept looking and didn't see any roe, just the green paste (tomally). It's lovely mixed in sauces, gives that great creamy seafood seasoning. Of course adding some boullion with cooked shells is even better- but that's another recipe!

    • @juliemiller5781

    I feel like you could substitute lobster with crawfish and still get a somewhat similar sea taste :)
    (Speaking of crawfish, I'm sure a southern-style gimbap with crawfish and sweet corn salad could be really cool!)

      Towanna Lynn, Believe me when I say you should try real lobster, Walmart should sell it. It is already cooked and frozen but you just have to steam it in the microwave and enjoy with butter.
