Tim did such an incredible job here that when Rob rejoined the band, they continued to play this version live. Alas, as much as Rob Halford is the O.G, he still comes nowhere close to nailing it like Tim did here. Absolutely perfect.

it's silly comparing Owens with Halford...and to each his own...but just listen to him scream "diamonds and rust" at the end of this song....one of the most piercing, melodious screams ever in metal...and for me this is the best version of Diamonds and Rust by Judas Priests simply because of the way it ends

I went to high school auto tech with his older brother Jeff. Met him a couple of times in 74-75. Jeff didn't like his lil brother's heavy metal leanings. I obviously did. And That's the way it was....
It's easy to hear why Ripper got the gig in the first place. He really nails it. Even Ripper can't sing like this anymore so it's nice to hear something from his prime years. Awesome.

Being from the Cleveland area. I'd moved in 95 to the Akron area to originally attend collage @ Akron. Ended up not going to school but for almost 3 years I'd emersed myself in the metal scene & had the pleasure of hanging with Ripper on more then one occasion. By far probably one of the coolest individuals by far in all of metal. So real & down to earth. To fill the shoes he had to shows the talent of the guy. To then go on & sing for ICED EARTH & MALMSTEEN makes Tim Owens probably one of the best metal vocalists of a generation.
