    Yes, Fractal FX are world-class, and only getting better. The additional 'cloud' verbs that were added not too long ago are obviously 'Strymon-like', but lack nothing. To me, the FX are one thing that sets Fractal head of the pack.

    Hey John, I really enjoy listening and learning from your technique and approach. If you haven't already, can you do a video describing your use of sliding. I hear allot of wonderful phrasing using allot of small slides. I can mimic them but a bit of insight to how you think of your own approach could be helpful.
    Thx for considering, have an awesome day.

    Also check out the Mulitdelay block set to Diffusor type for another “reverb” type sound. I set the 4 sections to manual times like 50ms, 150, 250, 350 or something, rather than the default tempo style. Uses a lot less CPU.

    On a serious note, I have to agree that today’s modelers/profilers have done away with the need for boutique reverb and delay pedals. They have really caught up and, in some instances, surpassed the pedals.

    Great video. I’ve owned AxeFx2 and 3. All the effects and modeling are top notch. That said, experimenting with other products is always helpful and inspiring. For example, I am sure the next generation of Strymon verb and delay will be amazing... same with Eventide. So my advice is always to stay with a product until inspiration dwindles. Just my thoughts. Of course this is why my closet is overflowing with both modeling and tube gear. LOL.

    The more I look at modelers, the more I'm leaning towards a Fractal, simply because of the staggering amount of things it can do well. Multiple delays and reverbs in parallel? Sure. Feedback loops and LFOs and sequencers? Yep. It's nuts. Headrush sounds great, but has a very limited signal chain- Kemper likewise- the GT-1000 only lets you have 1 reverb and 1 special delay type. Helix Floor would be the closest, but even that can't do what the FM3 can.

      @@JeffHendricks Not a bad unit- not quite 95% but decent. Main thing is you are happy with it. FM3 will certainly do Marshall amps far better and the routing I/O is superior if those things matter to you. If you do ever jump into Fractal- at this point, go for a FM9 Turbo. I did.

      @@johnnathancordy Yes, There are a bunch of cab choices which can make you get caught up in the paralysis of analysis lol. You can spend endless time searching for a perfect speaker and not actually be productive playing. I do think creating presets is pretty intuitive. The FM3 also sounds great using usb direct to PC and Ableton Live. I just bought a couple of FRFR speakers for room and they sound very good as well.

    This is exactly what I am contemplating doing. Right now I'm running a Volante and Ventris on my board. I'm looking into getting a FM3 to use in my effects loops of my amps but also as a running direct solution and maybe also paired with my Power Station-100. iridium, hx stomp or fm3?

    • @HarlanHarvey76
      @HarlanHarvey76 4 роки тому +4

      All can sound amazing! Iridium-very simple to use. Not a ton of options but the sounds it does have are great IMO. STOMP- user friendly, plenty of options and sounds wonderful at times and can sound rough if not dialed in, (like anything I suppose), plenty of effects and models. All things can be manipulated to an extent.
      FM3- a ton of options, almost unlimited amounts of manipulations to be had. Sounds wonderful but can also sound bad if not dialed in (again, like anything)
      You can spend a whole lot of time playing with your modeling box instead of your instrument...🤷🏼‍♂️
      The STOMP has a list of things to do but it also has limited processing power so while it can virtually replace everything on a pedalboard, it can't do it all at once.
      All in all, they are excellent tools. It depends on how much you want to get out of your pedals. If you want a simple amp modeler that does an awesome job getting tones from all the best signature amps - Strymon is great. If you want a bit more options and effects to go with it, -Stomp is great. If you want even more parameters to control, etc. FM3 would be your next step.
      With the right 👂 and a good speaker, all 3 - in fact even the Ampero, Mooer, HeadRush, etc can sound amazing. Especially recording at home.
