- At Londonist we're heading behind the scenes at London City Airport to find out what it takes to keep this London airport moving.
We're spending time with the team at Baggage, Ramp Services and Airfield operations. We also make it up into the Control Tower and meet the police officers dedicated to the airport.

There's a lot of cheek to Ross's presentation style that I like. And I'm enjoying this look at LCY. I watched the ITV docos on Heathrow ("Britain's Busiest Airport"), so this is a great addition to seeing how the airport works.

Keep LCY alive at all costs. - I just want to be in my hotel fast after a flight. And LHR feels just pretty far away from everything what happens in London.

Crossrail should be called the Lizzy Link
Get rid of LCY and expand Gatwick. Also create direct fast rail from LHR to Gatwick so you can move excess demand from LHR to Gatwick and problem mostly solved

My dads workshop used to be right about where the terminal is nowadays.
As a kid he would let me steer his car along what is now the runway.
We used to play on all the old ships at the east India dock before it was the airport we had amazing times until I nearly cut my thumb off after catching a fish on the steps to the dry dock and falling over in the grass.

I'd love to see what the same departments look like at an Airport like Heathrow.
Owen C Kind of similar, but also quite different! Each LHR terminal is unique in its own way, especially with regards to the baggage set-up. But the scale of the whole thing compared to LCY is vast.
There was an ITV show called Britains Busiest Airport which went through most of the equivalents :)
I had to do some work behind the scenes at LHR Terminal 5 a few years back; it is absolutely immense. It was mind-boggling

Basically, it was an alarm, warning people of an apparent fire.

I live in London and the closest airport to me is 9 miles away that’s like a 40-60 min drive here
Shut the place down. It doesn't very little for the city if anything apart from pollution, noise and taking up space.
What about the thousands of jobs it supports?
