Can u imagine being inside this man's brain??? I've watched a lot of interviews with this man........a comedic genius and a kind, gentle soul..........a best friend I've never met.
i met him in a restaurant in Sonoma Ca. as he was leaving after brunch. we had a brief conversation as the place was rather quiet. he was kind and thanked me when i complemented his work on "Moscow on the Hudson." he was soft-spoken by nature.
He was sharp and smart enough to do anything. I think I speak for all when I say, "Thank you for being you! The world is a better place for you & are all indebted in you absence."
I was mad about something today, and after watching this for awhile I felt better. That normally doesn't happen. He is the master and someone we may never see the likes again.
You truly are missed beautiful Soul… Watching your clips for hours now and I thank God or the Source for you Robin Williams… You have done so much good and left an unforgettable mark in this world. Bless your heart & rest in peace.
Almost a year since his death...so I am spending Sunday watching every Robin Williams clip or stand up routine I can, he was such a genius and had such a warm heart...he was a huge part of my childhood and adulthood and I will miss him my whole life.................
Robin is the only celebrity I actually felt a lose for because it seemed he was that close to us. I think he connected with everyone. A real inspiration.
I cried when I heard about his death. Easily my favorite comedian of all time. He was also an amazingly talented actor. Look at the breadth of his movies. World According to Garp to Dead Poets Society, to Moscow on the Hudson, to so many others. He could go from serious to joking on a whim. He was just as good as Garp as John Keating. Two more opposing roles in Hollywood would be hard to find.
Robin is Jesus Christ, to me personally. He is my Personal Savior. I am serious. I believe in the Father of Jesus Cc Christ. God. The Eternally Living God of Everlasting Life, etc....and all that is GOLDEN. Robin is PuRE. He did not die in vain. He did the Law of God. It was meant for GOOD. No matter what. Robin did FREEWILL of GOD.
"This is like therapy, but fun." Thank you so much for sharing this. Charlie Rose spent the entire time laughing, which is totally infectious. The interview, itself, is a rare chance to see a calmer Robin Williams, who we don't see when he's in the improv groove onstage.
This was the best interview, have never forgotten how good it was. Hoping it was here to see, hear and feel again. So funny Robin was at this best. Love his serious side too. Miss Him.
barbaraveronin2243: I feel the same way. I couldn’t watch any clip or movie of his for five years after his death. There has never been anyone remotely like him. Thank you Robin.
Like most of us, I had never met Robin Williams.. yet he has entertained me and made me smile for decades.. thank you Mr. WIlliams for the joy and laughter.. Rest in Peace Genie.. God Bless..
He went to the same high school I attended. He came back in the height of mork and mindy. He hadn’t been there for 14 years. To see him walk into a room that he clearly had no way to prep for was amazing. Many of the same teachers he had were still there. And boy did he have fun. He was a once in a lifetime artist
His genius is in his photographic recall and comedic commentary of it. He was hillarious without ever using the "I" perspective just pure comedic perspective presented the way he saw it. He didnt exist in the observation just what he saw. It was so instantainious in delivery as soon as the pictures appeared in his mind his commentary begins. Pure brilliance of genius. There will never be another Robin Williams.
This is just the best of Robin! An intimate, friendly talk with someone who truly admires him. You can see how relaxed he is in this conversation and how he just runs with it! In and out of dozens of characters, fresh jokes off the top of his head, lightning-fast! Unparalleled genius!
This is the kind of post that justifies the whole use of recording tape. These are real people relating with presence, imagination, humor and real desire to enjoy each other and to amplify the awareness of the world.
If you just listen to this you can literally imagine Robin as Genie doing all the character voices. It seems tho, no matter how much Robin tries to get Charlie to laugh, I always see the sadness in his eyes.
Charlie Rose, I was one of those avid viewers who so enjoyed your intimate conversations, I had this fantasy that one day I would come on your show to talk about my book "Yes Daddy! Comin' Daddy"...about growing up with an extreme disciplinarian with a wicked sense of humor. It would have been a riot and i would have succeeded in getting you to fall out of your chair with uncontrollable laughter. But time passed...Shit happened. Now in this surreal season of Corona virus, I've found waxing nostalgic looking at videos of James Lipton, Robin Williams and you. I miss them...I miss you. I hope you are well and safe and happy. As the old folks say in Tobago..."Walk Good!"
@@maridepp53 thanks for alerting me about that ? Robin William's was NOT funny to my generation. He would be on Conan and we ALL thought his stupid energy was corny and that Conan was WAY funnier
I wish the media and people would lay off the rehab and drinking/drugs aspect to his passing. He had been sober for quite sometime and maybe fell off a few times, but depression is the big killer here. Wait for the toxicology reports and no matter the results he had not been using/abusing regularil, that was well known. Once you are so big and cared as much as he did having the stresses he had can really throw you over the edge. I am sure the courts made him pay dearly to his ex and children in 2010, his beloved house was/is up for sale and he was not doing any great blockbusters recently to support or maintain that amount going out. Sad to think he felt that trapped and had to get out when he was the release for all of us to let our minds feel free. Hope you are free now Robin.
Depression isn't about actual life stresses. Its not based in logical reasons for sadness. It doesn't come with fame or money, same as it doesn't come just coz someone lived in poverty. It's a shit sandwich in everyone's lunchbox.
alandbs Don't think so #dufus. I never proclaimed to know him well but if you want to know I had to post one of the only on-set pictures I have while working on the set of "Don't Worry Be Happy" yesterday to remind me of better times. I would post here if I could, it is a classic shot of him acting crazy/cool by the limo so get it right man if you are going to diss. My dear friend(the producer) was so upset and the old crew members were all so stunned/shocked too and that is how I found out on Monday. Anyway I am going by his own words here and things he shared with people and while being interviewed. I regularly check out his interviews because I love him and feel very privileged but also I suffer from similar things and I like his insight into them. Cheers from the #dufus.LOL
alandbs Yeah you know you are right. Is that what really makes you happy alandbs? You are right, I will bloody scream it from the mountain waving a fvcking flag naked. People experience other people in their lives and have insight, and if my comment that said, 'depression is the big killer here' is so freaking bad just STFU. What do you know about the Bay area, or Marin County and his life and how it affected everybody there, nothing obviously. He never played the celebrity card once and he was as common as a coffee shop or anyone else in it and it hurt us all. I like you judgements and how you just like to be a dick to others, have a great time pal cause you are surely not #winning yet in life.
