Materials:
-Sweatshirt (or shirt)
-HTV (using Siser Easyweed here)
-Heat source (iron or heat press work great!)
-Parchment paper
*Note: I do receive a small commission if you use my Auntie Tay code or Amazon link to support the channel! Thank you!
Step by Step
1) Open Design Space and open a new project
2) Create a text box and write your text
3) Size the text according to your shirt dimensions
4) Once you have your text how you like it, WELD the text together
5) Click MAKE IT
6) ***MIRROR YOUR IMAGE ONCE YOU GET TO THE MAKE IT SCREEN THIS STEP IS SUPER IMPORTANT!***
7) Select your settings - for regular HTV just select Iron On
8) Put HTV ***SHINY SIDE DOWN**** on your mat
9) Load your mat into your machine using arrow buttons
10) Once loaded, click your Cricut button
11) Once cut, unload your mat and take HTV off your mat
12) Weed out negative space so that you are left with the letters
13) Put your carrier sheet with the HTV onto your sweat shirt and center or place it how you like (put the sticky side of the carrier sheet on your shirt - the text will not be backwards)
14) Once you have it how you like it, heat up your heat press or iron (for iron, TURN OFF STEAM and use hottest setting)
15) Once your image is ready to go, put the parchment paper on top of the carrier sheet and PRESS - don't move your heat source around just set it on the image and press
16) Peel off carrier sheet - Навчання та стиль
This is the only video I found on here that’s actually helpful and I’ve been looking for weeks now on how to do this
Yay!!!!!
You don't understand how thankful I am for this video. So many people skip over the little steps, assuming everyone knows it, but as a super beginner, I've been searching for a video like yours. Thank you!
Any more tips you’ve come across after doing these?? Getting ready to do it with an iron now!
You inspired me to make my first project. Thanks for this! Excited to make a shirt for my wife. I must be one of the only straight guys that’s into Cricut lol
Did you use a heat resistant pad?
good video. Thanks for doing it.
Watching Krystal River
I'm new to all this, so whats the difference in iron on vinyl and heat transfer vinyl? Thank you so much for teaching us!
Iron on and heat transfer are the same thing❤️
Thank you so much for making this video !
I finally made my first project ☺️ ✨
Im three quarters of the way in and you keep saying center as best as I can….. folding the shirt in half and pressing that will crease your mid line for you. Also you can fold the vinyl in half and that will also show you your halfway point. Great video loving all the help!!!
Oh my days. I feel like a complete moron. I kept putting my htv through because it wasn’t cutting through, for some reason it didn’t even occur to me that there was a carrier sheet. 🤦🏻♀️
Wait curve text... where is that on the iPad?
i was wondering the same...
It's in Design Space
I found templates somewhere that help with placement of the iron on for kids, babies, women, men….whatever works…I am terrible with measuring
Tem please how much?
Thank you for the video, it really helped out for my first heat-press project. Alternatively, my eyes don't work because I constantly thought that the letters were loose and that I needed to re-heat the letters, only to realize after the third heating that they were already applied, it's just that the fabric got a little stuck. So it was good after the first or second heating, I just thought it wasn't working properly. Big "Oops" on my part.
(For clarity's sake, I was using white print on black fabric which could explain the issue with depth perception).
Thanks for this. New to cricut and this is theeeee best and most informative tutorial I've found so far. You have a new subscriber here 💛
How did you get it to print vertically like that and not how it was shown on the screen, horizontally? That seems like it saves youore transfer vinyl
What if I'm done heat pressing it but it don't stick? I went to lift it and it took some of my letters with it? What do i do? Plz help 😭
Awesome video .
Curious if you had anything inside the sweatshirt at all while using heat press ?.. I've never used one so have a few questions . So nervous to use one
Nope!
Glad to see you making videos again! Can you do one of layering different color htv shirt etc?
Thank you Lauren! Wish I'd had this available about 3 wks ago when I did my first shirt LOL! I've bought more HTV and am ready to make more and just got a 9x9 easy press. (I think yours is the 12x10) You asked for ideas so here goes: 1. video about how to LAYER colors with HTV (I don't want to wreck a bunch of expensive HTV). 2. making large stencils with freezer paper so I can spray paint my 14x26 sign (my test was a fail because I couldn't get it off of the mat nicely) and just ended up using a ton of vinyl. That is all I have for ideas - you are my fav Cricut instructor so keep 'em coming.
thank you! and ps..you are adorable you remind me of my daughter!
What’s the heat setting on Cricut iron? How many seconds to press on?
a hot iron inside of the fabric and the vinyl will come right up if you need to remove it.
Thank you for this video.
my cricut won't let me make anything larger than 6.75x9.25. how do you change that? i want to make a design similar in length
Sounds like your image is probably in print and cut mode! Look to the right panel and if it has a little printer icon next to it or something! Highlight the image and in the top tool bar change the cut setting to CUT instead of print then cut
thats so funny i kept reading it as homeboy too until you pointed it out haaha
Is it because i forgot to put my cricut on iron on it was on vinyl
so sorry if this has already been asked, but you can just use parchment paper instead of buying the teflon sheets and others like that? obviously that’s way cheaper 😅
Yes of course
WHAT MACHINE ARE YOU USING ??????
Lol you are so cool! Love your personality! I like how you are so silly haha! Always joking and not taking stuff too darn serious. Much love!!
Thank you!!!!
THANK YOU!!! thank u thank u
Thanks for the clasd
Why isn’t mine making the side with no stuff to attach it!
hi, could you tell me what you did. your text was horizontal on the screen but printed out vertical. did you rotate the word before you cut it? thank you
Design space did it automatically since I had a larger mat!
They have clear shirt measurers that are for adult child you lay on front of shirt then you can mark. I have yet to use mine, just getting started.
Michaels crafts sells them
I tried to cut out my HTV 4 times and still didn't get it right until I found your video!! Fifth times a charm!!! Thanks so much!!!
Xoxoxoxo
What kind of carrier sheet should I use? The same kind I use for the non-iron on vinyl???
HTV comes with a carrier sheet you don’t need transfer tape
Lol I really thought it said HOMEBOY until u said it didnt
thanks, im just startig out and this is exactly what i needed
Omg same I get mine tomorrow 😍
this was so helpful! couldn't have done it without ya
Thank you for this tutorial! Question, how do I know what way to put the vinyl on the mat? Ex: horizontally or vertical? Does it matter?
Doesn’t matter - just make sure it matches the mat in design space so your letters cut out on the vinyl Properly!
I just got heat transfer vinyl for mug press. And I can't get the backing off without it tearing!!
Super awesome, I'm subscribing. Sorry you burned the finger. I was like ouuuch
does it matter if you put the HTV on the mat vertical or horizontal?
btw: how did you get it to cut vertically instead of horizontally ??
B Stevenson Hello Stevenson..when you click on Make It...the machine will choose how it best fits onto the mat and then will cut it. You still have the option to move it on the mat before you choose the type of material you choose to cut.
@@oliviamade5758 great; thanks for the info
Just made my first htv shirt with the help of your video. Came to tell you how thankful I am and looking at the comments I know I came to the right place :) thank you, thank you, thank you!
Welcome back Lauren the sweatshirt is Great I love it did you say what the font and size of letters is I want to make Saturyay lol
Font is IMPACT and the size was 15” long 3” high!
Lauren Laski thanks I’m on it lol
Is the font just impact or impacted I only see impacted thanka
Hi there!! U actually didn’t show us what the Setting looks like, u skipped it while it was still loading then the shirt popped out. You just showed us the wording of it “Everyday Iron-On” but i only see “Glitter Iron-On” as one of my options
I did mines but it wont stick to the shirt
What did you use to mark your shirt
I noticed you loaded the vinyl vertical vs horizontal? New to cricut does the app instruct you wich way to load for cutting?
Can you help? I 'm printing on vinyl but the machine thinks it's a print and is looking for those side lines. I don't remember what those sensor lines are called. But it won't cut image out
Lauren I love your videos and they are easy to follow !
Never give up sis
This was a super helpful tutorial. Just made my first shirt. Tks
Are you in Michigan
Love the tutorial. hello from 2022 ( as im writing this )hahaha. Ive seen alot of makers used Siser and gave it a good rating. I will try that for my next press. Thank You
what app are u using
This was so helpful
do i need a machine to use this?
hi thanks for your help! one question: how do you print out your design that you’ve created ? 💓💓 thats the part i’m stuck on
If you want it to be one color like she did, you use cricut design space to upload a picture and load it into your cricut to cut! If you want to iron on a picture you have to get a printer and then once it prints, the cricut can cut the outline of it. Hope this helps!
Hi! How do I get my setting to iron on??? I’m not seeing that on my maker
When you go to make it, you will set your setting in design space instead of on the machine itself
0:09 robot/ slow thinker voice " start by making a text box so um the text i am going to write
the htv doesn’t seem to be staying to well on my hoodies is it becuz of the vinyl brand or not pressing enough?
First time using HTV when I peel it off my mat my letters are sticking to my mat! Any tips thanks!
Hi, I hope you can help me but have you tried it on a different fabrics then cotton?
“Homeboy” 😂😂😂
Hey, what did you use to cut the vinyl?
I really thought it said Homeboy in the beginning I died laughing when you addressed it 😂
very helpful
You made me laugh so much when you said I hope I didn't write Homeboy :^)
Great vid
Hi! thank you for this video... Can you tell me specifically which easyweed siser htv you used? Thanks
I loved it
Can you use tissue paper that it is used for gift boxes?
No it will burn!
This video is amazing thank you!
You're so welcome!
On design space, do they have a holographic color for the lettering?
Do i need to spray something on 100% cotton before doing HTV?
How did you set it so that the machine can cut it sideways like that? And you didn't use a whole sheet?
Thank you. You’re the first video that I really understood.
So happy that I found your video tutorial. Your instructions were very simple. I have been a cricut user for about 14 months now. I design tshirts basically for my family, especially my toddler grandchildren. I love making the tshirts but using and understanding cricut can be challenging. I just ordered the HTVRONT heat press and currently awaiting the delivery. I just wanted to understand how to use it before it arrives regarding if you still needed to mirror the vinyl before printed. Your video confirmed my thoughts. Thank you so much. Your tutorial has been the easiest to understand than most.
Thank you! I couldn’t figure out which side to put down on my cutting mat! Very helpful!
There are rulers for HTV. Thanks for the tutorial.
Do I have to use that paper in between the heat press and the design? Can I use tissue paper, the tissue paper one uses for gift bags? Do I have to use anything or can I just start ironing without anything?
Not tissue paper!! If using the easy press you don’t need parchment o just do it for good measure. With a home iron though you will want parchment
Do you need a heat press or will an iron do?
Iron will do?
Do you have to have that clear paper at the bottom of the letters?
Thank you for teaching me how to use Iron on! I’m a newbie.
Wow so rad. So with vinyl, it has heat n bond already attached?
Yep heat transfer vinyl is just ready to go iron on!
@@thecraftscraps oh wow thank you!! I’ll check more videos out from your channel 👍🏾
Best video of seen yet thank you
Xoxoxo
That's amazing.
Thanks for this GREAT tutorial!!!! TFS newbie here 🌲🎅🌲
Where did you buy the vinyl paper??
There are so many videos out there but by far this has been the simplest and the easiest to follow video
This video is great and I love how you explain things. You have a new subscriber! Thank you!
Yayyyy
Thanks for sharing. Cant wait to do my first shirt.
Hi. I'm new and very overwhelmed Lol but I bought several different color vinyls to make hearts with words on tshirts. Do I just use the vinyl then once it's cut out I can use my easy press and it'll be done or do I need to use iron on? What's the difference with iron on and vinyl is where I'm confused because I only bought vinyl. Thank you
There are different types of vinyl. For clothing you want to make sure you buy “heat transfer vinyl” or “iron on vinyl” which are the same thing. Regular vinyl is not meant to be ironed on.
So you put the shinny side of it down on the mat?
Thank you so much 💓 I needed yoy in a hurry today. It worked.
Amazing video step by step thank you so much 👍👍👍
I subbed immediately!!! Very detailed and helped me tremendously 🤠 .
Hello, may i know what software is that to make the name
Wh@t is the heat press?
