Hi Nick! I found your channel by accidentally but it has become my favourite! Your presentation is extremely intelligent and you provide very detailed and useful information. I bought my first Mercedes of my life (C300e - 2024) and learned a lot from your videos. Thank you very much for your work! I had a good laugh at the Audi joke! 😀(And sorry for my English!)

You dont have to pause - you can just say Hey Mercedes, navigate to the nearest Starbucks, straight off the bat - and for lists you dont have to touch, just say the listing - either line 1, the first one. In some vehicles like my EClass , the passenger can say turn up the seat heating - and its turns up their seat heating If you are bored you can also ask to play geo Quiz.
Ah really sorry I wouldn’t know :( Sat Nav is standard on cars in the UK, so isn’t a thing that I’ve ever seen on how you add on I’d say the best thing to do would be to get in touch with your local Mercedes and they can let you know if it’s possible 🤓
If several possible GPS destinations are displayed and you are asked which destination is meant, you can also select the correct destination by voice. Just say the corresponding number of the destination from the list. :)
Hi Nick, thanks for another great video. :) - You are very friendly to the lady in your Mercedes. For example, I just say "turn on the massage" without a "please". 🤷🏽♂️😉
The trouble is you might forget your Manners when addressing your wife asking for something and get a smack in the mouth so best to use Please at all times.
Thank you so much, Nick. I’ve been trying to find a list of commands for some time. I love your videos. You have much more info on the MB cars than many salesmen and I salute you for that. Is there a chance you might know what’s the proper words combo to turn on seat heating in the rear? “Turn on rear seat heating” “turn on second row seat heating” both don’t work

You mentioned that “hey Mercedes” can read your text messages. Can “hey Mercedes” send your audio messages too? I’m picking up my GLE53 coupe next week and have been trying to watch all your tutorials. Thank you for all the tutorial videos. It’s very helpful and informative. Hopefully, all your tips can be useful here in canada.
Thanks Nick, I am enjoying the video tips and tricks. Question off topic if I may ... how do you store the locations for the weather app. Intuitively, it looks the same as the radio stations but I can't make anything stick to a numbered setting.
Thank you! I haven’t seen a place to store them to be honest as the only way I’ve found to bring them up is by asking the voice assistant So like “Hey Mercedes, what’s the weather in London?”
Another great video Nick I was playing around with the voice control on the MBUX system in my A-class. I find it's the best way to learn it. just a pity it won't activate my indicators, or maybe it thinks it's a BMW and doesn't have indicators😄
Great video as usual. Today I used voice command to turn the steering wheel heating on/off. I was also able to use voice command to stop the dash cam from recording, but for whatever reason, MBUX does not recognize my commands of turning the dash cam ON
Thanks for another great video. I have learnt so much from your videos. This topic is particularly helpful as I was not aware of how much you could use the voice command for. Is there a setting where Hey Mercedes can learn your voice? In my previous Audi/VW products there was often a feature where you could teach the voice control to learn your specific voice.
Hey Roger, thank you and glad you enjoyed the video! MBUX actually trains and learns your voice over time automatically 🤓 So the more you use it, the more it recognises you 😎
I really love this voice assistant. It is definitely in my top three list of things I love about my car. My partner really likes playing with it. She can't get enough. 😅 The number one command I use is probably related to navigation since I do travel a lot. My partner has several favourite commands, which are definitely among activation the massage, seat cooling/heating or changing the ambient lighting. 😂 Cheers, Nick. Informative and entertaining, as always. 💖
Will get my new Mercedes in 6 week and probably use Hey Mercedes a lot. To bad the woman doesn’t understand Swedish. I speak pretty good English but we will probably have some difficulties in communication. But if she speaks Spanish my latin girlfriend could do the talking😂. The only thing I can say in Spanish is “una cerveza por favor” and that is probably not even optional.
Realised this evening that the system is able to determine the location of the speaker. So if the driver says “turn on my seat warmer, level 2” vs the passenger saying the same, the correct seat warmer is activated. Doesn’t work for the second row passengers though - oh well, buttons for them 🤔
Thanks for another great video Nick! Yeah, I've also used 'hey mercedes' to open/close my sun blind in my CLA. Is there a function to skip to the next track on the steering wheel as an alternative to voice or fiddling with the centre console or screen?
Hey Jaspal, Thank you! Glad you liked the video! There is, if you press the HOME button on the touch pad on your wheel closest to the door, swipe across to MEDIA and then you can change it on there by swiping up / down🤓
You can do the blind but sadly not the roof from what I’ve seen. I think the blind is the only “moving part” you can move via voice. “Hey Mercedes open the roller blind” or “Hey Mercedes close the roller blind”
@@npoleary Thank you Nick. After taking delivery of my GLE 450, I learnt more about the controls and the vehicle by seeing your videos. Massive Thanks to you for making such simple, well structured and informative videos.
Hi Nick, great video and some really useful stuff in there. Our MBUX still doesn't like it when we ask to change to 'BBC radio 5 live'.... We mainly ask for destinations, temperature adjustment and the mood lighting. Will be trying out a few of those featured in the video... Thanks for sharing the knowledge... 👍
Hey Nick, I've had my CLA 220D for 4 months now and was wondering how I can get the HM command to speak back to me in clear English when I ask her to ring someone. I don't have a strong accent and I ask her to ring someone in a clear voice, but her reply to me always sound like a stroke victim trying to whistle. She just doesn't seem to be able to pronounce names or destinations in the sat Nav. Any ideas? Loving the channel BTW!!
Hi Nick. Brilliant videos. I have a 2018 E220d 4matic AMG line. What a fantastic car. I've been traveling at night moor recently and I find the display (Infotainment section) quite distracting. I often turn it off with the switch on the center conceal. However this also switches off the radio etc. Is there any way I can either dim or turn off the visuals, without loosing the adio? Thank you Tim
On the side closest the driver’s door next to the AUTO lights, there is a scrolling wheel which allows you to dim them. Do you mean something like that? 🤓
Hi Nick! Is there a way to change the Hey Mercedes voice to different dialects? I'd love to use the same British/English voice that is on your cars but my system but it's set to common English (American). Thanks.
Apparently the MBUX system if you finish your sentence with 'please' when saying 'Hey Mercedes' the car in time will actually form a bond with you, Nick I guess you have figured that that one out. : - )
@@npoleary No I was being serious , I was speaking to a software engineer who has been working on the MBUX API and there is actually an easter egg where after time if your polite (please and thank you's) it forms a bond, i'm not sure how long it takes or the specifics on what it does because he wouldn't comment. 🙂. Always great to see people being polite whether its to a person or machine, not enough of it about these days unfortunatly.
Specs and features do vary round the world so if you’re not sure double check with your local Mercedes and they can let you know if it’s available there 👍🏼
Thanks Nick for another great video. May I ask why when I ask for the weather, or try other fun things like why it’s more fun to drive a Mercedes, it says that I’m not connected to the internet? I’m in Australia, does that make a difference?
It can vary from country to country Here in the UK Hey Mercedes works properly when connected to a Mercedes me account. Really sorry I wouldn’t know if it’s the same over in Australia too If you get in touch with your local dealership, they might be able to point you in the right direction 🤓
Hey Nick, Mercedes lady must be liking you. Always listen to you. My lady at home hardly listen to me. I have to find new lady like Mercedes. Just joking I hope she don’t read this 😜😜😜😜
Hi. Nice videoes. Do you know why suddenly I always get "I can't help you with that right now". Or she says, "I'm sorry, can you repeat the question". It has been working fine for weeks. But my daughter had the car last week-end. Can she have done enything that I am overlooking?
Hey Morten, thank you! Sadly that can happen from time to time due other external factors, even voice assistants like Siri on an iPhone this can happen. Most commonly it’ll be down to network coverage or something similar
Hey Nick, Thanks for another great helpful video . I have GLB in Australia. Every time I ask for weather it says that I don't have internet connection. Is this which can be fixed or do I need an internet pack? Thanks
Hey Kavneet, really sorry I wouldn’t know :( Features for cars can vary massively, in the UK this runs off of a thing called Mercedes me. You need your car linked, Terms of Use accepted and the Mercedes me services switched on here for that to work. I know this varies massively elsewhere so the best thing I’d suggest is to contact your local Mercedes who may be able to assist and hopefully get you sorted!
Hi Nick, I just purchased a 2021 CLS 300 rear drive. I was told that due to chip shortages, this suv does not have Mercedes navigation and that I have to use my iphone Apple maps in order to navigate. I also have to plug in the iphone if I want to use any features as the car does not synch wirelessly to my iphone. So... I guess I can't use "Hey Mercedes" for any navigating. Do you think the chip shortage is a real issue or was I just taken for a ride by the dealership?
Hey Ron, ooo very nice! I’m sure it’ll look awesome! However yes sadly the chip shortage is real, it is a major problem worldwide for pretty much anything that runs on electricity. You can watch more about it here: ua-cam.com/video/AeN3oQx-o68/v-deo.html Hopefully it’ll get better over time! 🤞🏼
Some cars you can over Bluetooth, depends on the car. If it's not compatible, plug it in then you can via USB. To clarify it would have to be the default music app, iPhone us Apple Music. To use 3rd party apps, you'd need Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
I’ve got loads of tips and tricks on my channel for MBUX and that year of car 🤓 ua-cam.com/play/PLyo-duQc8myqCIqf8E_-x-3dMZ50uKIHA.html&si=nnmJ8W_FP7LqkP2E

Hi, how do you merge call list from 2 phones in your system (2022 E Class) In my BMW when i pressed Call button it showed call list from both phones. Thanks for great videos!
Hey jeppe1976, ah no sadly you can’t merge the call list from two phones in Mercedes. When you have two connected at the same time you can toggle between them and then go to the call list 🤓
First couple of weeks my accent wasn't much appreciated by the mercedes "lady" 😂 We're in good terms now Also in last road trip when I said "I'm cold" and she increased the temperature I felt my wife staring at me for like 10 secs...in total despise 😂😂😂
Hey Nick! I was wondering if there is a way to set your "work address" to the Navigation list. I live in Denmark, and my workplace road is with danish letters (æøå) so the Mercedes assistant aren't so helpful. But I've noticed that I can say to it "Go to work" and then it requests an address. Could you perhaps make a guide to how to set special locations to your Mercedes Navigation List? Once again, always watching your videos! Btw, I finally picked up my A200 AMG premium Plus! I absolutely love it! It can to some extend keep up with my mothers e300 coupe :D
Hey Nisani, yes you can When you’ve typed in an address and just before you press the arrow to go before it gives you directions, there’s a star at the top where you can save favourites. Tap this and then tap Save as work 🤓
Hope you love the video guys! What commands do you use?

In Mercedes-Benz you can only turn on heating / A/C remotely if it’s a plug-in hybrid or electric car (with the exception of the Marco Polo camper van)

Doesn’t work for the second row passengers though - oh well, buttons for them 🤔
As an Audi owner I laughed at that joke. LOL Ohhh Shots fired.
Thanks for another great video Nick! Yeah, I've also used 'hey mercedes' to open/close my sun blind in my CLA. Is there a function to skip to the next track on the steering wheel as an alternative to voice or fiddling with the centre console or screen?
Hey Jaspal,
Thank you! Glad you liked the video!
There is, if you press the HOME button on the touch pad on your wheel closest to the door, swipe across to MEDIA and then you can change it on there by swiping up / down🤓
@@npoleary Great, thanks Nick! Have been trying to figure this out for ages!
My favourite MBUX voice command is "Hey Mercedes, Play all songs by Alison Moyet"
Hey Nick, fantastic videos. Well done. i remember you mentioning a command to open the sun roof , can you please let me know what is that command?
You can do the blind but sadly not the roof from what I’ve seen.
I think the blind is the only “moving part” you can move via voice.
“Hey Mercedes open the roller blind”
or
“Hey Mercedes close the roller blind”
@@npoleary Thank you Nick. After taking delivery of my GLE 450, I learnt more about the controls and the vehicle by seeing your videos. Massive Thanks to you for making such simple, well structured and informative videos.
Awesome! Thank you! Glad you enjoy them! 🤓
thank u been looking for a list of the voice commands :] 😀
Ah awesome! No problem 🤓
another useful video Nick , as always
Hi Nick, great video and some really useful stuff in there.
Our MBUX still doesn't like it when we ask to change to 'BBC radio 5 live'....
We mainly ask for destinations, temperature adjustment and the mood lighting.
Will be trying out a few of those featured in the video...
Thanks for sharing the knowledge... 👍
Hey Mark, thank you!
I personally haven’t tried that command but try “BBC Radio 5 L”
That may work? Just a thought 💭
Hi Nick, success, your suggestion worked.... Many thanks.... 👍
Hello BBC 5 live does switch over however only to the AM frequency and not DAB is there a way to do this thanks
Awesome
Hey Nick, I've had my CLA 220D for 4 months now and was wondering how I can get the HM command to speak back to me in clear English when I ask her to ring someone. I don't have a strong accent and I ask her to ring someone in a clear voice, but her reply to me always sound like a stroke victim trying to whistle. She just doesn't seem to be able to pronounce names or destinations in the sat Nav.
Any ideas? Loving the channel BTW!!
Awh thank you! Glad you enjoy the videos!
Oh really? Does it not sound the same as shown in some of my videos?
@@npoleary Yeah it does, though she's got a problem with pronouncing names and locations. She doesn't repeat them back to me as I say them.
Well no voice assistant just yet (especially car ones) will repeat names back exactly right. The pronunciation can sometimes be a little off.
Thank you
Tim
On the side closest the driver’s door next to the AUTO lights, there is a scrolling wheel which allows you to dim them. Do you mean something like that? 🤓
Thanks neck for your great video let me know how to use that cool feature in the right way
For raising or lowering the A/C temperature you can also say : Hey Mercedes I'm cold/hot
You sure can! 😊
Thanks so much for this, Nick. On both my Mercedes cars, hey Mercedes seems to struggle with Play BBC Radio 4. Any ideas why? Mark
Hey Mark, no worries! 🤓
Have you tried play the radio station BBC R 4?
@@npoleary hi Nick, that worked very well, thanks again for your help 👍
good to know thanks
Good video thanks
Great leaned a few tips
Thanks Joe! 🤓
Glad you liked it!
08:38 its like she heard what you said before HAHA
Haha thanks Josh! I know 😅
I genuinely hadn’t heard that response before!
Hi Nick! Is there a way to change the Hey Mercedes voice to different dialects? I'd love to use the same British/English voice that is on your cars but my system but it's set to common English (American). Thanks.
Hey Anthony, no sadly you can’t I didn’t even know it was different elsewhere! You can change the language in settings but sadly not the accent
@@npoleary Oh well maybe one day Mercedes will add that. I know Google Voice allows you to adjust the parameters. Thanks for the reply!
Most likely getting one this spring - wish the voice assistant can be changed to Majel Barrett.
Funny watching this as l too say Please and thank you when talking to Mercedes Me
Haha it’s only polite 😉
Apparently the MBUX system if you finish your sentence with 'please' when saying 'Hey Mercedes' the car in time will actually form a bond with you, Nick I guess you have figured that that one out. : - )
Haha I’m just polite! 😅
Oh really? That’s fascinating! I would never have known thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much Nick. I can’t seem to get ‘hey Mercedes what is the weather today’ to work in Australia 😢
It can vary from country to country
Here in the UK Hey Mercedes works properly when connected to a Mercedes me account.
Really sorry I wouldn’t know if it’s the same over in Australia too
If you get in touch with your local dealership, they might be able to point you in the right direction 🤓
@@npoleary thanks mate. Keep up your amazing work.
Hey Nick, Mercedes lady must be liking you. Always listen to you. My lady at home hardly listen to me. I have to find new lady like Mercedes. Just joking I hope she don’t read this 😜😜😜😜
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Haha thanks Jag! 😂
😂
Nice videos !
Thank you! 🤓🙏
Thanks for answering:)
No worries!
Hey Nick, Thanks for another great helpful video . I have GLB in Australia. Every time I ask for weather it says that I don't have internet connection. Is this which can be fixed or do I need an internet pack? Thanks
Hey Kavneet, really sorry I wouldn’t know :(
Features for cars can vary massively, in the UK this runs off of a thing called Mercedes me. You need your car linked, Terms of Use accepted and the Mercedes me services switched on here for that to work.
I know this varies massively elsewhere so the best thing I’d suggest is to contact your local Mercedes who may be able to assist and hopefully get you sorted!
Cheers nick can you use the hey Mercedes to play different artists from your iPhone if you are connected via Bluetooth
No sadly not just over USB as the music catalog is kind of archived over USB. Bluetooth just sends the music.
You can watch more about it here: ua-cam.com/video/AeN3oQx-o68/v-deo.html
Hopefully it’ll get better over time! 🤞🏼
Off topic question, can you see your music library and select playlists and songs in the media Bluetooth menu where it shows your song?
Some cars you can over Bluetooth, depends on the car. If it's not compatible, plug it in then you can via USB. To clarify it would have to be the default music app, iPhone us Apple Music. To use 3rd party apps, you'd need Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
@@npoleary so on Apple Music on an iPhone you would be able to chose songs thru mbux bluetooth then?
A200 sedan 2019 tips and tricks plz
I’ve got loads of tips and tricks on my channel for MBUX and that year of car 🤓

Hey nick new here. To get the full use of mbux do you need the car to have a wifi or internet package? Just got a new GLB premium plus night edition. Iv found the mbux isn’t working to it fullest.
The internet only turns your car into a hotspot for other devices, it won’t add any more features to it.
What’s not working?
Thank you mate
Hi, how do you merge call list from 2 phones in your system (2022 E Class) In my BMW when i pressed Call button it showed call list from both phones.
Thanks for great videos!
Hey jeppe1976, ah no sadly you can’t merge the call list from two phones in Mercedes. When you have two connected at the same time you can toggle between them and then go to the call list 🤓
@@npoleary 😀 I was hoping it was possible, but Thank you for your answer.
Nice 🙌🏽
First couple of weeks my accent wasn't much appreciated by the mercedes "lady" 😂
We're in good terms now
Also in last road trip when I said "I'm cold" and she increased the temperature I felt my wife staring at me for like 10 secs...in total despise 😂😂😂
Can you send & receive text messages from iPhone if it is locked ?
With Apple CarPlay yes but only if you allow it. When you first connect via Apple CarPlay, it’ll ask if you want to allow this feature
Hi Nick! Could you also make a video on voice commands on command ntg5.5 system? Thanks in advance.
Hey Wan Yong Chen, Thanks for the suggestion, I’ve added it to the list for potential future videos!
@@npoleary Thank you so much Nick, I’ve always been a fan of your UA-cam channel. Love your videos.
Oh too clever for me haha
Hey Nisani, yes you can
When you’ve typed in an address and just before you press the arrow to go before it gives you directions, there’s a star at the top where you can save favourites. Tap this and then tap Save as work 🤓
"Navigate Home" is the only voice command I'm using
