Good video, thanks. I have sprayed miles and miles of lacquer and latex so it was a little painful but entertaining watching you handle the mic to spray it but hey, trial and error, it worked out pretty decent . I did not consider that the paint would stay tacky so thanks for taking that one for the team! After a year how has it held up? Also, how does it handle a mic stand grip? I was thinking of putting my palm print on mine then dipping it in clear epoxy for the top coat to give it a really durable surface and a cool design completely protected by constant use. Pro tip for readers.. 220 sandpaper. Scuff it enough to break the surface of the powder coat. Dont sand it back to metal surface if you can avoid it. If you have an old mic cable laying around, plug it into the mic instead of paper towel and hang it to spray and dry.
Hey, thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I clearly had no clue what I was doing :) I actually go rid of it. Definitely should have kept it to see how it held up... The palm print idea is great! Thanks for the tips. Perhaps I'll take that advice and make a better video. Thanks again for weighing in!
@@MintGreenAudio I recently had issues of mixed up equipment after a gig so I have been looking for neat ways to make my gear identifiable from across a room. When I get down to actually customizing my mic, I'll record it, tag you and credit you for the inspiration. Rock on man! 🤘
Tried painting mine gold. Awesome metallic gold paint turned to a dull golden brown after applying the clear coat. Have sanded back and painted again, going to try with a different clear sealer to try and maintain a better metallic Gold finish. Awesome video thanks
@@MintGreenAudio I tried a water based sealant and was a bit better but it wasn't metallic enough still so sanded it back and using a gold glitter finish on it, looks good so far.
I have a microphone that I want to paint really badly but it’s not a normal mic it’s a gooseneck mic called AKG DGN99. So I was wondering how I can get something that bends painted
See this video ua-cam.com/video/lTIQOD9RdhU/v-deo.html They painted the akg dgn 99 gold. They use it a lot 5 times a day and looks good as new even after 8 years no paint chip etc
Hey bro this video is really sick for a dude like me who wants to customise their products I got a wireless shure mic too but I’m really apprehensive about opening it up and stuff so that I don’t screw it up beyond repair, is there a safe way to get this paint job done ?
So the microphone is super sturdy and painting is pretty straightforward. In hindsight, I didn't do a super good job with the paint. But I did end up giving the mic away. Id just tape the top like I did to keep the paint away. Also stuffed the XLR pins with paper towel.
I’d love a gold 58 for my wife. I would love to be gold. We do a duo show. Tina turner/ Aretha Franklin type stuff. We are kinda hard on our mics. Where do I send the 58?
@@MintGreenAudio hey just curious, do you use bass traps for your vocals in your studio? Do you plug your mic straight into an audio interface or do you go through a preamp? I like the sound you’re getting in that sm27 video and I can’t get my mic to sound as good. Thanks!
Not all heroes wear capes. Thank you brother im headed to home depot today!
Haha, thanks for watching and best of luck!

Won't the paint come off a little every time it is put into the mic stand clip? I'm guessing you only hand-hold it?
Correct, it's not perfect. Would probably need to be done more than once under heavy use. I don't really use it, though.
I have also done the same thing, failed several times to achieve perfect results
we had a good idea :)
I wanna paint my microphone red
☺️♥️
I want to paint my Samson microphone to white can I paint the boom stand?
Ahhh, I'm not sure! To be honest, I'm not a pro when it comes to this. Just an experimenter :)
Are you still offering that gold paint service 🤔
Unfortunately, I've moved and don't really have the space to do it currently :(
Did you clear coat the screen as well?
Yes!
super helpful! thank you!
was putting the foam back inside the mic easy ?
Super easy!
good video the only problem I have is the music used it was very annoying to listen too
Thanks anyway!

Sorry this reply took FOREVER!!! I moved and I don't really have the space right now to do this. But I'll let you know if that changes :)
Goldmember would approve
Haha for sure
