- I wanted to make a video exploring my favourite part of Mobile Suit Gundam The Witch From Mercury, that being Suletta and Miorine's relationship! So here I delve into why them Kissing isn't necessary and the whole host of awesome romantic scenes between the two!

I'd argue G Witch is an evolution of Gundam romance, as Miorine and Suletta actually.. get to know each other? Like they actually hang out and get to know each other as people, as well as improving each other as people. I know that sounds weird, but couples in Gundam usually just kinda don't, or just barely do, best example being Shiro and Aina from 08th.
Not that that's even a criticism of past Gundams, but I'd be lying if I said Sulemio shouldn't be the standard for further romances.
I haven't seen 8th MS Team yet but yeah a lot of couples don't really get focused on so heavily, usually their built up on the side and don't get as much time to interact as a couple or have their own little arcs like Kamille and Four in Zeta that are more drama focused. The one glaring exception that comes to mind is Domon and Rain, since I feel like their relationship does progress and becomes central by the end of G Gundam. Still I'd hesitate to say the romance elements are one of the core things going on, whereas In G-Witch I think you could easily say romance is one of it's main aspects, I think so anyway.
But yes I 100% agree, i'd love to see better romance/relationships like Sulemio in Gundam in the future! Thank you for your comment!
@@TrentinArt Well I'd argue Kamille and Four are examples of what I'm talking about, they meet like twice and start making out already even though they don't really know anything about each other, though after the Rosamia arc I have a tough time even calling Four and Kamille's relationship romantic but that's a whole different topic. I think one of the best relationships prior to SuleMio was Garrod and Tiffa from Gundam X, which starts out as having this problem I discussed prior but intentionally, going on to recognize the problem with it and fixing it. Like G Witch, the plot really doesn't work without their relationship, though it only stops working without it around halfway through, whereas G Witch stops at like the second episode, arguably at the first.
Though mind you, I'm not complaining about any series that doesn't feature romance like this, we're just probably gonna see a lot more lmao
@Peasham Ahh yeah I didn't really mean Kamille and Four were a good example of a substantial relationship, it's short and mostly used for the plot. Not seen Gundam X yet but I'm looking forward to it a ton since it's one of the less talked about ones, but seems very cool!
I think Gundam is pretty much tied to ideas of human connection and relationships so we'll always have some romance, focusing on it is really cool though and I think theres a lot they could explore! I'm really looking forward to the future of gundam!
While I agree with the fact that they don't need to kiss to prove hey are in love and the fact that a lot of yuri don't even have the amount of hand holding that this had...
I think if they kissed they've prove everyone on the "they're just good friends and Suletta (somehow) loves Guel" team wrong.
Oh 100% and I'd love it if it happened! I think I wanted to just point out all the smaller things and things I love about WFM that showcase their growing relationship and love for eachother.
I honestly think Gueletta shippers know very well that Suletta didn't like Guel. Probably homophobic people or people who don't respect a relationship between two women. If I'm not mistaken, a kiss was supposed to happen but... Unfortunately Bandai stopped Okouchī from doing that so they could have the justification that they were just friends for homophobes 😒

Loved every bit of this. You broke it down so well❤ and I just want to say that, ppl only do this whole “they need to kiss to show us it’s real” thing with queer couples. Heterosexuality has been shown to us sm that it’s easy to pick up on straight romance cues. When it comes to same-sex dynamics, we’re left wondering if “it was real” almost 100 percent of the time due to us being conditioned to think same-sex relations can only be friendly.

I went into witch from Mercury not long before season 2 started with no preconceptions about it. I had been out of gundam fandom for a while, ibo turned me off and I had no idea this new series was out until I saw it on Crunchyroll while looking for something to watch.
I gotta say that first season enthralled me. The way they told the story of suletta and Miorine was absolutely beautiful.

Even though I get that it’s frustrating to see “it’s up to interpretation” I think that this allows for it to reach more people that may actually being oppressed. Like who’s going to be reading the statement by Bandai, they are covering their asses. It sure beats what Hollywood is doing with scenes that could easily be edited out. Gundam is a huge franchise, and they need to sell stuff in order to make a profit. It’s a perfect balance between being gay enough, but also reaching a larger audience. Like whenever people criticize companies for not having pride flags in certain countries, I’m like “do you want them to lose profit?” I mean if you do want them to go under, that’s makes sense, but there’s not much they can do about it. Sorry if I’m saying anything insensitive, I don’t mean to come across that way, I’m just trying to bring a positive spin on the situation
No I understand I just think thats kind of horrible that we live in a world where doing thats seemingly the better option, but on the other hand if no progress is made then nothing will change, and having companies erase things certain countries or groups don't like for profit is just extremely depressing and dystopic.
I think in this case it's not really annoying for me since it's so clear and evident in the show that the two are romantic, people are laughing at the statements bandai are making.
I think mostly I wanted to talk about the show and the topic in general from a place of love, but since what they said is relevant I brought it up the video to I guess frame how ridiculous they are for saying the things they have, I think it only really serves to strengthen Witch from Mercury in the end, at least for me!

The show won't be banned if the marriage was confirmed, as proven by IBO, and considering homophobes won't watch the series anyway this would only lose Bandai money. You have literally no idea what you're talking about.
