I saw Creed in The Woodlands back in 1999, right after Human Clay came out. After 3 songs, Scott Stapp either blew his voice out, or was sick (can't remember), and the concert ended. They came back a week later and we got to go see them again. The concert was just freakin amazing, one of the best I've ever seen.
Wow.. That's a bad ass and interesting story... I can't understand, he had to have so much energy and power to get that voice out every night for their 5 year run before taking a break. I'm sure it took so much out of his throat n cords to do that so often. I mean just look at his back singing this song. His back tenses up, cuz it took so much to get that sound out.
I was there too! It was Halloween if I remember right! I also seen them at The Eye Ball in Houston during My Own Prison. That's a small venue and was awesome too!
Ha!! Yes!! I remember that show! Our Lady Peace opened for them I think. All I remember is the radio DJ coming back on stage after the crowd was booing, and he said “Scott can hear you booing, you assholes!” And then everyone went ape shit. Great night...
I still get goosebumps every time I watch this...it keeps showing up on youtube and I just can't help it. His voice back then was just insane, that scratchy grungy sound when he says "what if" man I just wish he could still sing like that and did that on his more recent solo album. His new album is actually pretty good, but if he did that voice like in the old Creed stuff, man that shit would go just as viral as creed back in the day.
This is one of the incredible live voices I’ve ever heard. My two favorite bands are Metallica and Maiden. James and Bruce both have incredible voices, but I’ve never heard one like his here. Wow.
Creed was one of the most amazing bands live back in the day. From 99’ until the mid 00’s. Creed always brought their “A” game when it came to their live performances. Incredible shows at the Staples Center, Anaheim (Weenie Roast) and the reunion at Irvine. Awesome band !!!
November 10, 1999 at the Hollywood Palladium. One of the best live performances I’ve seen...and I’ve been to a lot of concerts over the years. Too bad they couldn’t keep it together.
Watching this basically shows you why his voice become shot after like 2005 and on. Just watch his 2009 Creed Live performance…. Absoloutly zero grit. Scott pushed so hard with zero technique and blew it out! But luckily, watching their recent Summer of ‘99 cruise performances, he’s gained a lot of his vocal ability back!
Love watching bands--especially singers--in their prime. I mean holy shot listen to that voice! Love it or hate, to be able to do that sustained gritty tone in pitch like that is freaking incredible and it's also no mystery why he can't do it anymore lol. That'll kill the ol' larynx!
That's one of my favourite things too! I love watching footage of Eddie singing with Pearl Jam in 1990-91. Same with Maynard singing in Tool in 1992. So much youthful energy that their powerful tone comes out effortlessly. It's a joy to behold. This is my first time seeing raw footage of an early Stapp singing and it brought me the same enjoyment :)
C'mon folks, I can assure you there will be differences in your vocals 20 years later as well. Why do haters come here to bash? I've never been that bored. I seek out music I enjoy.

People grow, they just aren't the same people after 15, 20 years, and if they did reunite, it wouldn't be the same Creed we knew because (1) the guys have changed, (2) the musical world is not the same as it was. Not only that, Christianity hasn't become any more socially acceptable in the last two decades. I don't hold out hope of seeing Creed successfully reunite again.
@@FeelingShred impactful is not a word, and Tremonti is a killer musician. I don't know what you're talking about, "don't need Mark Tremonti," but Creed would never be Creed without him.
John Nichols
Yes,I remember.
A radio DJ took the stage and said he had just gotten and some kind of steroid shot in his arm because he was sick
I was at both
By far my favorite version of this song
Creed fan for life
Here here
Definitely!
Damn..... I should’ve given these guys a chance in the 90’s.
Ya u should have
Uh ya
Go listen to alter bridge and attend one of their concerts. You won't be disappointed
@@SpencersStuffTV A matter of taste. I Don't like Myles Kennedy vocally.
@@fordsrule35 sucks. Mark became a way better musician when Scott was out of the way. Tremonti's solo stuff is kickass
This was shot while human clay was still being written that’s why the lyrics are different
Jacob Phillips Scream 3.
I thought this was from my own prison
IDK bout that
white deion Nope. Human Clay.
@@whitedeion598 It was written during that time, but released on Human Clay.
This song still rocks
I still get goosebumps every time I watch this...it keeps showing up on youtube and I just can't help it. His voice back then was just insane, that scratchy grungy sound when he says "what if" man I just wish he could still sing like that and did that on his more recent solo album. His new album is actually pretty good, but if he did that voice like in the old Creed stuff, man that shit would go just as viral as creed back in the day.
This is one of the incredible live voices I’ve ever heard. My two favorite bands are Metallica and Maiden. James and Bruce both have incredible voices, but I’ve never heard one like his here. Wow.
Greatest band. Gave us a reason to live through the 90’s
One of my fav songs by Creed!
Creed was and is still a great influence of mine. The recorded lyrics were perfect and I want to hear that shit.
Amazing footage. Used to listen to Creed with my dad. Loved them. My dad passed away, but I still listen to Creed from time to time. Epic band.
Love the band....they actually sang about real stuff. Scott has an amazing voice!
Freaking awsome this has just re-ignited the old playlist ... Time to deadlift !!!
From 1997 until 2003!
Creed is an eternal light for those in the dark!!🤘🏼
This is hard asf
I saw then 5 days ago. FREAKING AMAZING.
Won 2 karaoke contests singing this in early 2000’s, blast from the past right here! Great fucking song! 😎🤘🏻
I play this song almost everyday, the riff and the words are badass. You can tell here He was still working on the Lyrics.
Man I wish this band were still rockin'. Great voice, great guitar work.
Creed will always be one of my favorites. Stapp was definately a one of a kind amazing. Everything that they have done is gold to me.
November 10, 1999 at the Hollywood Palladium. One of the best live performances I’ve seen...and I’ve been to a lot of concerts over the years. Too bad they couldn’t keep it together.
Tell us about it
I was on the older end of the spectrum as a fan of this band. In 1999, I was 37, and was a huge fan. This footage is amazing! Thank you for posting!
it's like I became young again. Thank you! This enrichment!
Jake Lane my gosh, what a weird concept
well, you did get bored enough to question the haters instead of seeking out music you enjoy.
Man Scott's voice is unmatched!
Creed fans are always waiting patiently for the holy grail Ron Ranew video archive and hopeful that this can come out of the vault in its entirety.
Thank you Ron!
Heck yes. No back tracks no earpieces just rock
And that’s why a lot of artists have shit hearing now days because of this!
Just realized that this was recorded at the USF Sundome in Tampa. Many great shows there over the years!
Too pull off something this good at almost a moments notice , shows how good they were , when all cylinders were firing ! ! !
