That vintage Gillette is an absolute beauty. Really great video, Ken! Also, Pinaud is always an excellent classic barbershop scent. Lastly, my Sox are up two and I'm looking forward to the game tomorrow night! Dodgers are a very good team at home and Buehler has been pretty damn good!

Ken, I must admit that your videos are really amazing, and I watch a ton of them. I was just trying to think what it is that makes you so special to your ever growing audience. You are so relate-able. I honestly feel part of the family. People truly get a feeling of who you are.

Not yet. But, they say we're going to have a terrible winter.
Just bought a used OC Gillette off ebay and it's one of my favorites along with the Gem OC. I always was afraid of skinning myself but the trick is to go slow with no pressure. It takes down my course stubble in one pass vs the CC razors that took three passes and "Buffering" ,causing minor skin irritation. Thanks for another great video.

Great shave as usual, Ken. I have a closed comb gold tech. Got it from an antique store. Which is another great place to find vintage razors. Of course that means doing your own cleaning and polishing.

Ken, like Arko, Derby is from Turkey. "Berber tiras sabunu" means "barber shaving soap.'

Hi Ken- Very nice shave with a vintage Gillette open-comb razor, with a Feather blade. Well done, my friend. I did notice that the Peach was gone from the witch hazel section of the sight. They do have a new scent- Coconut Water, which I have and think you might like. It is quite mild but leaves no doubt that there is a nice scent of coconut. Definitely worth a try, I believe! Ken, I believe that razor is a Gillette NEW with a ball end handle which was introduced in 1929 and made until 1940/41. I have both the long and short open comb version of that model with bar handles and they are excellent shavers. Have a good week!

Ken, nice shave! Congrats on the “no weepers” lol. Your razor is the Gillette New...long comb if I’m not mistaken. I had one just like it...passed it down to my son and he loves it. I do love the open combs...my “daily driver” at the moment is a 1936-37 Sheraton...a beautiful razor and such a pleasure to use.

Great shave. I use Derby now and then. I have a razor that looks just like that except it is a 3 post head. It was one of many razors I found in a box of many razors that belonged to my Dad and maybe Granddad..

If you take your clubman pinaud and put it into a glass bottle and leave it for about 4 weeks it totally makes it a better smelling aftershave. Works great on all their scents and good way of reusing your old aftershave bottles.
Love the New Improved with a Feather blade. Great combo. I'm almost to the bottom of my Thayer's Peach. I found mine at TJ Maxx in the beauty section, but in a different bottle than the round with a white label and red cap.

Outstanding shave and video Ken. I too have Feathers on deck to use in the Leaf razor. I was told that the razor really tamed them down to a very nice comfortable shave and yes the sweet spot for Feathers is the 2nd and 3rd shaves. Any more after that would depend on which razor I'm using. It's Wet The Face (WTF) Wednesday tomorrow and I will have about 4 days to mow off with the Leaf.

Every photo of Tom Selleck as Magnum PI I've seen shows his mustache even with the mouth, no drop in the corners. Is this correct Ken? Got to be exact if you're gonna be Magnum..😉 Nice shave with the OC vintage Gillette. Yeah, I'd say it's from the 20's/30's. Heard the short combs are more aggressive than the long combs..!? I've used Derby, Palmolive and Arko stick soaps, amazing how much lather they can make just by swiping across the face. Another great video Ken. Enjoy!

Derby stick is a a really good soap, cheap, super easy to lather and decent performance. I just find it a little drying on the post shave but balm fixes the problem. As for the feathers, I wish I could used them but my acne scaring prevent me to use them.

@@kensurfs it was too late when I discovered that... my cheeks were no problem. But when I went for the chin, from under the lip to under the chin, right in the middle, I ended up with a nice 1 inch bleeding strip. Took me a good week before I could shave the new skin there...

I have the same razor. I also have one with a fat handle. I find they are great shavers surprisingly not aggressive. I prefer the fat handle .

I was just criticizing the Derby shave stick on my instagram, but maybe I need to give it a second try like you did here in the video. I swore I had tried to use it in every typical way but I couldn’t get it to lather up. Though I did love the scent. Thank Ken for the great vid!

We did Disney Magic Kingdom yesterday, yes. I got sun poisoning because some meds I take make me photosensitive to the sun, and niece couldn't find the sunscreens in her backpack (which we found out were there all along when we unpacked when we returned home). My body needs an overhaul...back, neck and legs were killing me. But I persevered and had a blast. Did the rides we wanted to the most...Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Carribean, Thunder Mountain Railroad (and others). Then caught the late night Happily Ever After Fireworks Show...it was great. Got there at 10 a.m. and stayed to closing. Then Celebrating my Birthday on the 25'th then we do Disney Animal Kingdom on the 29'th.

Derby is a Turkish brand. Their products are widely available in Turkey, because a lot of men there still prefer shaving with either a safety razor or a straight razor!
Whats it like compaired to the Arko shave stick? Soudns weird but i really love the Arko, has a very clean scent to it.

Do you believe me now Ken? just teasing. :-) Thayer's discontinued it on their site a while ago and then it was discontinued at Maggard's etc. I also got the Coconut Water but disappointed in the scent since its almost unscented. Ken I love you man but know what you are shaving with. It's important so people looking for a particular razor can search for it . Gillette open comb is not really much help given how many different OC razors Gillette made.

Razor Emporium has a long history of poor customer service, poor quality, failure to deliver products as promised, and outright dishonesty. Tread lightly with them, Ken.

I have purchased restored vintage Gillette razors from Razor Emporium and have found their quality and customer service to be excellent.
I have had great luck with Razor Emporium for the past three years and have had many razors replated with them. My favorite is Rhodium and then 24K Gold. In fact, I just got another razor delivered from them this past week and its like new. I know three years ago they got behind from all the razors that were sent into them and then sold on eBay for many times the price Razor Emporium charged. I have actually met Matt, the owner at the Big Shave West and he is a great guy and fun to chat with. You may want to try them again. Cheers, Mark
