2 f*cking years. I finally pulled this bullsh*t move off. Such a beautiful, but painful flourish. I hope many of you guys have succeeded in this as it really is a worthwhile move. If i were to have any tips, try repositioning the packet corner on your right ring finger in many ways (if you are right-handed). You tend to be more successful if you position the corner on the right ring finger closer to the index side. There is a good chance that this can solve some of the issues.
1:50 I just don't get how he can cross his fingers and still hold on to both packets. I just don't get it to work. Amazing how flexible his fingers are, he makes it look so easy and natural!
Patrick Thörnlund Why don't you make your fingers more flexible? haha.. I also had the same problem like you have. But after trying several times, it worked. So! cheer up man I hope you learned it by now
hi, Tobias. I'm Korean. and I've practiced this amazing flourish for a few months(really hard). I show this to my friends. and they want to learn 'Phaced' but they say it's to hard,I don't know what is he talking about. so, I'm starter of this flourish and each time I get the tips my self and I want to share them in Korean in video. for my friends. may I? please~~
I'm sorry to say that but I think the tutorial isn't very good. The floyrish itself is amazing, but the tutorial isn't that great. What I don't like about this type of tutorials is that I get stuck on every movement, because I'm not sure what should I do next. Maybe it's just because this tutorial is so short and everything happens so fast. I prefer the way in wich someone talks about every finger and it's movement. The best example in my opinion is "Nova by Nick Stumphauzer". Anyways, I wish good luck to dealersgrip.com and I will try to watch every video you upload!
I am the exact opposite of you XD. When people discuss every single finger I have to close the cut and get in position again before I have learnt the next thing and I hate that.
When I reach over to finish the flip, my middle finger always slips off of the spinning pack because of the torque and I have to pinch the packet between my middle and ring finger for it not to fall. Any solutions? May I also say that for any flourish, the torque makes the cards flip out: for Tornado, Windchill, this. Anything that requires spinning, the torque fks me over. Again, it's not the cards splitting necessarily, it's just the packet stability and I have worked on this a while. Any tips?
The corner of the packet inevitably slides down my finger when torqued because of the pressure from the other side. If I release the pressure the cards go everywhere though so it's not like I can just apply less.
try to readjust the position of the cards every time you turn the card with just the finger contacting the edges of the card, readjusting the packet to its normal position with just one finger. thats how i do it.
the tutorial is not that good but the flourish is amazing. it looks better from the spectators pov for sure. i got the moves down in about 3 days with rubber bands around those 5 packets. trust me thats the best way to train. just position them the right way so they dont bother your fingers. and you have to take note of the finger positioning. anyways i love tobias and this flourish. Amazing.
I think rubber bands around packets is the WORST way to train. Just a pack of cards and practice. You have to be able to feel every little detail without a piece of rubber in the way. It's the only way to make fine detailed adjustments to the handling. If you're showing a flourish to someone and a few cards fall do you think... "Oh dang it, I wish I had my rubber bands so I wouldn't have dropped so much cards". Or something lame like that?
I think I'll just stick to the spin sybil and huntington for now. This seems a bit too confusing and it seems to be very hard to keep the spinning card under control.
im traying and i fell like im stupid cant get it ,ges im just stupid but ill play with it until i get it love the cut but hate my self for not geting it
Yes... You should hate yourself for not being able to get it, it's the best way to learn. Through self loathing and anger. When I'm not practicing cards I'm a habitual cutter... I'm at the top of my cardistry game!
I tried to learn this because i wasn't able to do the skater cut full kick flip, but this tutorial was so bad that it made me learn the full kick flip because i wasn't able to understand WTF IS HAPPENING IN THAT HORRIBLE CAMERA ANGLES. :D but ty for the kick flip
One day someone might say "I, uh, came up with this back in 2014 when I was having trouble with Tobias Levin's Phaced' :)
and so on perhaps...
legit I actually did that
We might be nearing that day broski!!

I’m trying to learn. I hate tutorials like this
It's times like this I am extremely grateful for UA-cam's speed control feature.

E sctatic Yeah after a while I found out I was using the wrong finger and then after that I could do it just fine.
Patrick Thörnlund that's what all magicians or cardists have after practice

It took 12 straight hours to finally figure out this move. But as he said, it is quite addictive

@Nage Cohlas
Are you still watching this?
You should put up a tutorial for the closer. It's only shown in the performance, which is pretty hard to learn from (I learned it though).
Huh, on where?
Get good with the sybil cut in 2 months and you'll be ready for this, if not, good luck
What's the name of the music, please tell me!!!!

Try ending the flourish with Legolove... it looks really cool.
Tobias can u help figure out a variation for short fingers? After skater cut, my ring finger is 2 cm too short to flip the front packet over.
