I was in high school when this song came out. Younger generations won’t understand how big the Spice Girls were at the time, they were huge.
I'm almost 30 years old with children of my own and still tear up and feel every ounce of joy and pain the spice girls brought into my life. Such an important piece of my childhood that I would relive every damn day if I could.

mine was wild(ly embarrassing) and revisiting these videos reminds me of such shameful artifacts as:

She's definitely the best and most important member. However I think each of the girls gave their own contribution to make the Spice Girls the biggest band ever. The secret of their success is "five different vocal timbres and personalities".The vocal backbone is made by Sporty (soul, power, distinct sound, rock touch), Baby (sugary-sweet pop sound) and Scary (sultry R&B sound). Followed by secondary singers Ginger (husky tone) and Victoria (soft tone). Each of them wrote their own lyrics and took control of their careers. They weren't manufactured dolls as people used to say, they were actually five bosses.
This song still makes me feel as magical as the first time I heard it when I was in first grade. 25 years old and I'm still hardcore fangirling over the Spice Girls.

One of the things I liked about the Spice Girls was that you could recognise their individual voices, even though were five of them. Songs like this seems to be designed to help with that process

Heard this for the very first time because of Derry Girls. This pop song is honestly underrated and ahead of its time. Sonically, this fits the era of dance pop songs this century and still sounds fresh.

@@melanie--138 ... videoclip is from mid-February 1997, she had got her hair dyed deep black in earnest about one month earlier (some photos of very first 'trials' seem to exist as of very late 1996). Videos and pics do show Mel in early January '97, performing in TV shows/photoshoots while still sporting chestnut hair.

I remember in primary school, we had a school talent show concert thing, so me and my best friends sang this. It wasn't even our favourite song, I just had it stuck in my head and thought it would be a good idea. Listening to this is so nostalgic and looking back we were so happy for doing it. Our music teacher was hyping us up like we were a famous band. The only reason I'm back here is bc my best friend who I sung this with sent me this in the middle of the night. So many good memories with this song

The only SG song still on my playlists. This song just absolutely cranks and is highly underrated and hugely underplayed. It's also one of the few songs of theirs that doesnt sound "90's-ish." Between the horns and guitar sounds, it could easily have been written during the 70s dance pop era with the likes of Earth, Wind & Fire or ABBA. Just an outstanding track!

Mel C’s voice....I’ve loved it then, and I love it now. It’s too bad she never collaborated with Jay Kay of Jamiroquai back in the day during the height of their fame and make some killer songs together as solo projects.
Wether you liked them or not that era of music was fun, lively and had great hits for so many artists it was some of the best era of music and life seemed better people seemed happier.
