Valkyrie Trailer - Directed by Bryan Singer and starring Tom Cruise, Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Thomas Kretschmann. Wounded in Africa during World War II, Nazi Col. Claus von Stauffenberg returns to his native Germany and joins the Resistance in a daring plan to create a shadow government and assassinate Adolf Hitler. When events unfold so that he becomes a central player, he finds himself tasked with both leading the coup and personally killing the FÜhrer.

Its so sad that such worthy movies are so underrated.Tom had one of his finest role here. Hats off to the entire team..

History will always repeat itself.
No it is not. WW2 is a lesson in population control. Satan lost influence as the big bad, now we have Hitler to control people with. It is absolutely disgusting.
Highly underrated movie. presents the history of the events extremly well, without getting boring with technical details, keeping the suspense and the thrill. I personally was not bothered by the actors not speaking germans, and I think people who are bothered by it, have a problem.

Say what you want about tom cruise, but he is like it or not, an excellent actor, not just movie star, people dismiss him as an action star but he is capable of anything, he dominates every scene he is in and he is surrounded by 1st class actors here, stick him in a film with DiCaprio or any of the apparent greatest actors today, and he will outshine almost anyone. Great underrated film.

Not many actors can convey in both line delivery, and facial expressions, but Tom Cruise does an excellent job at both in this movie!
The only movie that I cried watching. Very moving and one of Tom's best performances. Recently I was in Berlin and was at the location where the end took place. Thinking what happened again I cried. These men and others such as Rommel showed that not all Germans during this terrible time which isn't that long ago were evil and tried to solve the evilness of Hitler and his companions.

I love that this movie had actors from other great WW2 films like ‘Conspiracy’ and ‘Downfall’. It seems that once you get cast in a WW2 film, you’re in the genre for the long-haul.

+candy Cane Action It was the "decent Germans" left at that time that took it upon themselves to attend to kill Hitler, not SS murderers. Please read your history, this men died in order to try to save their country from Hitler.

I am not a big fan of Tom Cruise but he did a great job in this movie.
Damn, this trailer is intense. Just like the whole movie itself. This amazing movie is so underrated...the acting, directing, cinematography, the plot, etc. all excellent!
Everything was pretty good but man, could they have put any effort into their accents at least a little bit? Most of them had British accents, then you have Tom cruise just not trying at all and speaking in his regular American speech. I mean if cruise is supposed to be a decent actor you would hope he could at least do a stereotypical German accent or at least a British one to match the others in the movie. It completely keeps me from getting immersed in the movie at all
@@lucastudor5536 Although I mainly watch movies in their original voices, there is (like many other movies), a German dub for Valkyrie that sounds really good. Germany in all, is famous for dubbing foreign films.

Watching this trailer just goes to show in a little over a decade we've only now nailed the theme of a trailer to suit the movie!
If it were to release today I would expect a shorter trailer that focuses on a moment or particular theme of the film and not quick cut snipits showing the whole film in a single trailer, the build up of suspense, a suitable choice in soundtrack and no crappy voice over guy.
It is one of the films that makes you sit in the edge of your seat.

... in Italy, Rome was liberated and the Allies were marching towards Tuscany.
... in France the allies were preparing to break out from the Normandy beachead to liberate the rest of the country.
... in the Eastern front the German losses were in the greatest proportions (see Operation: Bagratyon) and the Soviet forces have reached the prewar lands of Poland and Romania.
Yes, but it wouldn’t have hurt to kill hitler sooner..many lives soldiers and civilians alike wouldn’t lose their lives if he died right then and there in 1944. Which means..if war in Europe did end in 1944..more allied troops would help the US in the pacific, with more troops and supplies it would have been more easier to bring Japan to its knees quicker, and maybe just maybe nukes wouldn’t have been needed to end japans rule
@@stargazer-1490 In fact the July 20th plot was the last known attempt to kill Hitler, not the first. One of the other attempts is in fact shown at the beginning of the movie with the plastic explosive hidden in the Cointreau bottle taken aboard Hitler's plane. There were in fact several other attempts but Hitler's luck seemed to hold up incredibly well, either changing his schedule at the last minute or something else happening to thwart the conspirators. In the aftermath of July 20th there were around 5000 people executed and many more imprisoned - the German resistance was effectively gutted.

excellent movie and thriller!!! i love how it was filmed in germany and the producers and the director did a lot of research before making the movie. and its wonderful it was filmed in german and used a lot of german actors and had a history proffesor and steuffenbergs family and conspirators children and people from the past guiding them and consulting them on the history of this story. and it is smart the introduction was first in german and then it blends into english. and all the writing on the papers is in german and tom cruise even speaks in german at first then he speaks in english. i love this movie but i wish it was longer.

Very sad that it didn´t work. Million lives and the total destruction of europe would have been prevented. Most people died in 1944
I don't really think its fair to compare a man responsible for helping plan and orchestrating one of the largest ethnic cleansings in history with an elected official who as of yet as done no such thing
my great grandfather died in that war, but also i was born because of that war so i got mixed feelings about it
I highly doubt it. Himmler would have probably taken over, and he was even worse.

Stauffenberg kinda liked some of the ideas of nationalsocialism- just like many people esp. from the military. You have to consider, that democracy wasn`t very popular for those ppl, he regarded himself as an elitist. He was up for some Ideas like liberation from the contract of Versailles. Though its save to say he wasn`t a convinced member of nationalsocialism. Especially if u consider all the warcrimes which he has seen himself in 1942. As an 15 year old boy he wrote an essay (what do you want to become?) saying "To become worthy for the Fatherland and the fight for the Fatherland to sacrifice myself for the sublimely fight for the people" (not sure if that Translation is 100% accurate). Stauffenberg was a honorable man with principles who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Never paid interest to this film but after reading the story ,wow so good. I think the problem is that people don't know that this is a true story.
Yeah, probably. I was very interested in this movie because I like Tom Cruise and I am German. We are learning about this story in school in Germany and it was very interesting too see it in a big Hollywood movie. I liked this movie very much.

In the 2004 version of 'The Manchurian Candidate', Meryl Streeps character complained that there weren't any men around any more and that her father "never went around asking 'Is this ok? Is this ok?' No, he just did what needed to be done." I don't like her character in either version of the film (I haven't read the book yet), but as far as this definition of a man goes, I think it applies to Von Stauffenberg, and the Bielski brothers, and Schindler, and every male member of the White Rose Movement - even if only a few of them succeeded in their aim, they still did what needed to be done.
