I dispatched the D&H desk on the CP in Minneapolis. Never got to see this part of the road, as it wasn't ours. Best crews to work with were the D&H guys - they'd been booted around more than most people and still did the job and were pleasant to work with.
This was CR and based on the automobiles I'd say it was prob 1990-1993-ish. Packerton yard light mast still there, track #2 around bear mtn not in use by RN, Trieclers Mill still in operation, Lehigh Gorge trail not in. Sad all gone. Leigh Line these days only used by 1 train a day, the Hazleton job runs up and back.
Do you guys have an uncut version of Taylor yard when they were getting fuel? My grandfather and uncle were in the trucks and I’d love to see if there was any chatter between him and the crew
Thanks for sharing this video! I dispatch for the RBMN and it's neat to see the territory when Conrail still had it. Love hearing the old Conrail draggers, too! Do you happen to have a full version of it without jumping around, or is this all you have?
I was going to say this was probably from the late 80s until two things popped out the Saturn and Firebird in this video would pin point it to at least 1994 especially the then new style Firebird at 3:30
Nice video! What was the Conrail line called in the 90's that ran through Pattenburg tunnel between Allentown and NJ? Wasn't that the original Conrail Lehigh Line?
I have never heard that term applied to that line before, but I'm not saying it's not correct. Conrail and NS had always referred to it as the Lehigh Line or the Lehigh Secondary.
Not my video but here is proof that others call it Upper Lehigh Line: ua-cam.com/video/tfs_U-QPrIo/v-deo.html I have heard the term used by local railfans while at Macungie, whenever they chase the 13T amongst other trains going up towards Wilkes-Barre / Scranton.. This could just be a railfan term for the Lehigh Secondary, just like in New Jersey many still refer to the Garden State Secondary "official name" simply as the Chemical Coast..
Manville, NJ to M&H Junction, PA going westbound or vice versa for eastbounds is considered the NS Lehigh line main. Many like to refer to it as North/South railroad for anything west of Allentown but it's actually west/east RR except for the RBMN part. Sad part is almost all of the traffic on the eastern half of the line takes the NS Reading line west of Allentown as part of their routing.
Some of the ugliest grayest wintery run down cities, towns and scenery I've ever seen. I was a conductor for CP out of Taylor and Conklin yard about 25 years ago. Hated it. So glad I moved to beautiful sunny florida
@@brianbooher7318 not one bit. When i was a conductor in calif, i saw some of the most beautiful scenery on earth. Snow capped moutains, you could ski in shorts, redwoods, deserts . Incredible difference. Pennsylvania was the ugliest place i ever lived

Many reasons why trains run slow or almost at a crawl but loving the good long looks at the scenery and communitys. Bumpers.
Love these cab ride videos. Takes me to places I will probably never get to in person. Thanks so much!!
Thank the railroads' legal departments for that.
Enjoyed the video very much. Loved the sound of those EMDs winding up and down. Enjoyed the scenery on that lehigh line.

It's not "Upper Catasauqua," it's North Catasauqua.
