    The Rivian crossbars have been perfect for me. It see you aren’t fully installing them. You snap them in first. Then while pushing the lever / cap in, pull down until you hear a light second click. They become fully tight only after the second click.

      I’m definitely aware of the second click to fully engage 👍🏻 They are still not as solid as when I first got them unfortunately

      I had to climb up on the roof to press them extremely hard down to hear the 2nd click so the door closes fully😂

    Need to hear more about those spoiler closeouts… looks like you have taken it a bit further than painters tape these days. Very nice sir!

      I’ve developed some 3d printed parts that are working well - I’ll be doing a video on them soon!

    Regarding the Rivian crossbars I recently learned that they can be adjusted if needed to fit better into the attachment points. You need to remove the rubber feet first and then you’ll have access to adjust them using an allen key.

      I’ll give that a shot👍🏻

      On mine, that door will close firmly if you put a little weight on it - mine was loose like yours, pushed it from above and the tab clicked in. Try it!

      Also for mine i got all the covers down by pressing the cover closed and then pushing down with all my weight. The reason the doors dont close is the bars arent seated fully. Doing the allen key adjustment will work though.@@ChargeOverland

    Cross door does close and the wobble will stop. I didn’t see this covered in the comments but if you press the door closed HARD it will click an additional time. This actually locks it and make the connection tight and secure. The door will then stay closed as well.

      Few people have reached out about this and I’m aware of the second click but in this case the crossbar is still showing some wobble unfortunately. Thanks for the tip though!

    Loving this! I’ve been in contact with Gobi hoping they had something for the Rivian but I think it’s too soon. This will be perfect for what I need until Gobi comes out with their own! Thanks for sharing

    I trimmed all of the crossbars to narrow my caprock for the perfect fit. the profiles are really easy to cut with a miter saw and metal cutting blade

    Interested in one for over the bed - debating between the Caprock and the Pioneer Platform from Rhino Rack. For the cost I might just jump up to the Xtrusion rack though

    Just wanted you to know you don’t have the RIVAN cross bars mounted correctly.
    I did the same thing they aren’t secure and rattle if you don’t.
    You have to lift them up once there on top then pull down firmly.
    That will lock them down and the latch covers fall firmly into place as well
    When you have them correct you have no play of rattling.

    • @LetsAct2013
      @LetsAct2013 6 місяців тому +1

      Echoing this sentiment. You have to click the door in and it should click twice. The second one, you really need to press hard, but once it clicks the hood doesn’t stick out at all. It’s flush and it doesn’t rattle one bit.

    • @ChargeOverland
      @ChargeOverland  6 місяців тому

      I’m definitely aware of the second click required to lock it into place by pressing down firmly on the latch cover (my bad for not covering this in the video). These worked properly at the beginning but have started to develop this rattle over a year and a half of use.
      For sure good for people to remember it’s not locked in until it clicks twice though👍🏻

    • @jeremyschmidt2482
      @jeremyschmidt2482 6 місяців тому

      I've had this issue as well. Sometimes it helps to lift up slightly as you push the latch in for the second click.

    • @westhefarmer
      @westhefarmer 6 місяців тому +1

      This isn’t the rattle issue being discussed here, it’s the door covering the lock. In the video it’s described as not closing properly, and that’s because it’s not latched correctly, and not just the door, but the crossbar itself isn’t positioned correctly to latch perfectly.

    • @jeremyschmidt2482
      @jeremyschmidt2482 6 місяців тому

      @@westhefarmer That is what I am describing as well. I just had it happen to me yesterday. I'm assuming the cold temps are affecting the fit. I couldn't get it to close the door and it would rattle. I found that lifting up slightly on the crossbar as I closed the door for the second click helped to get it to close/latch properly. I'm not saying this will work for every scenario, but wanted to mention it just in case it could help someone else.

    What do you typically store up there? Having no experience with owning this truck or any truck, I’d think the bed, gear tunnel and frunk would be enough space for my gear. Especially if I’m going solo.

    • @ChargeOverland
      @ChargeOverland  6 місяців тому

      I generally have kept recovery boards and an awning up there - looking at possibly putting solar panel(s) as well. Really depends on how much stuff you want to take - I wouldn’t say the roof storage is a necessity by any means. The truck definitely has plenty of storage on its own👍🏻

    Those spoiler cancellers are cool, where did you get those, did you make them? I remember us talking about those ideas when you put tape over your spoiler in that test video. I ended up cutting up a yoga block and it works really well!

    It would be nice to push it all the way back where the leading edge is at the front mounts. There’s a reason they are there from an aero perspective.

    How is the wind noise at highway speeds 70+? Only reason I am hesitating lol

    • @ChargeOverland

      It’s noticeable but not bad! Honestly I think the biggest drawback is the range hit

  • @LarsDennert
    @LarsDennert 5 місяців тому

    Um are you sure the difuser goes on the inside? Aerodynamics would say it goes on the outside sending wind from the windscreen over the top by adjusting fore and aft.

    • @ChargeOverland
      @ChargeOverland  5 місяців тому +1

      Agree it’s a bit strange! But yes it definitely is installed correctly based on how Thule has designed it. Most other platforms I’ve seen have the wind deflector positioned as you’re mentioning.
