I dont understand, why volksvagen put ecu in this such stupid place, that easily to catch water after heavy rain? The plastic cover under wiper isnt waterproof.
I had that issue mine ecu it’s was flood of water you need too pay attention of debris (leafs and another stuff from trees) to clean and unclog water ports, such of bad design!
I thought the security bolts were to keep the ECM from being stolen from the vehicle. Realistically, the security bolts seem to be there to detect tampering that would void the warranty. A theif would just cut the wires.
Hello, so I know this video dates back a while, but hoping for at least a response. So my Volkswagon is have an idle issue to where it shuts off only at idle. Drives perfectly fine, and had the fuel pump replaced, no vacuum leaks detected, and still same issue. My mechanic said it is a transmission issue but just want to make sure it's the ecm before doing it
I’m having similar issues with my Jetta. Only at idle my engine rpm will rev really low and battery light comes on at dashboard. Doing some research I came across a known VW problem called “coolant migration “ it causes all sorts of crazy electrical problems by corroding plugs and wires throughout the car. Also a clogged sunroof and clogged windshield drain can cause corrosion to electrical contacts/parts. The ECM is located under the windshield wipers. And the problem you describe is caused by intermittent voltage drop to the ECM making it shut off
I have a 2008 Jetta 2.0 and I believe I need my PCM replaced. Keep getting P0606 which has to do with PCM losing its memory capacity. I also believe the new one, wherever I might find one, needs programmed to the car.
It really depends if ECU contains the immobilizer or not. If it contains the immobilizer, you have to reprogram it and you may need the encryption keys for the replacement part to unlock it. If it doesn't contain immobilizer or keyfob data, you can simply swap used part in if the donor car has identical components (that is, same gearbox, same engine, same ESP, ABS etc). If you don't know the details of the donor car, expect the replacement ECU needing to be reprogrammed so that it works with the other components in the car.
I did this on Saturday to replace my ecu with a new one and my wipers don’t work. They go up about 2 inches and go back down like something is resisting it
I removed mine and I had ordered another one and put in but I don't or can't find anybody that can sink everything back up how do you go about doing that
hello this was a 2009, the transmission control unit was inside the drivers side fender, you do not need to remove the fender, just remove the tire and the plastics that cover that area, you will see the unit, it has 3 or 4 , 10mm nuts
anyone know the part number for that piece at 46 seconds? I have an mk5 project car that someone butchered and that's the one piece i'm missing to fix it :) well that and the cowl under the windshield wiper :D
The mechanic for quote is telling me 960.00 to put computer in and program! How hard is it to program? I have a 2013 VW CC. It is very hard to find anything for my model

German engineering.
FORD DOES IT TOO. YOUR NOT AN ENGINEER WHY WOULD YOU KNOW ANYTHING
Sparks all over your windshield. SMART
Cheers but i'd have protected the screen from the sparks:)
I totally agree.

In South Africa, this is how they steal Polo's.
They'd exchange the ECM with theirs so that the car can operate with their skelm key
@@laxsonmathobela7752 strong snips would just cut through that thin metal plate anyway.. still won't stop a thief, no grinder needed..
but immobilizer is in dashboard

an ECU from a VW polo classic 2000 can be there too, right??
When replacing the ECU, does it have to be reprogrammed?

It might need programming, try a lock smith, they can program
Do you have to reprogram the ECU if you buy The same ECU that is already programmed
hello, you do have to reprogram with your vin # i had a lock smith program it, cheaper than the dealer
@@TRUCKINGTIPSDIY Ok thanks alot man imma try that

So what's your car is surging and then shutting off
But in my case the power flashes and then will go off again, so how will I fix it

Hello is this for crank no start
grinding sparks will mess up a windshield
So will weld spatter. Ask me how I know.

i bout the computer on ebay for around $60, and a lock smith programmed it for 350, you can try that
@@TRUCKINGTIPSDIY so when Yu bought it, was it used? So I can’t just go to a junk yard and grab one?
