Make Your Own Fly Tying Materials: Flashabou

Making your own flashabou just takes a couple materials and you can save hundreds of dollars. Create your own unique patterns from recycled plastic food wrappers or go for the original colours by simply visiting your craft stores and getting pearl, gold, silver, white(and many other colours!!) mylar sheets for a few pennies.

I have a bunch(Christmas tinsel)but they’re not quite like flashabou, but this stuff in the video is exactly the same stuff! Also try gift basket wrapping 🙂

Chip bags are awesome, come in silver on one side, colored on the other. IE Dorrito's Nacho chips bags are bright and flashy,

Have you tried to reduce the spacing between the blades to produce Angelina fibers from holographic paper?

I have tried that yes. It makes more “midge” style flashabou. Forgot to mention that in the video.
