My 2 attempts to reach the summit, the first one we took Tuckerman's Ravine and I got halfway up to the Summit and couldn't make it. The second attempt we took The Jewell Trail near the Cog railway. It stated to get dark and I got nervous. I still am proud. Not too bad for a 58 year old woman with ms! Maybe next year I will get to the top! I enjoyed your video!
Hi Tami! Thanks for watching and sharing your story, amazing! Sounds like you had a great time as well. I also have a tuckermans, lions head, Crawford path, Davis path, and boott spurr video you might enjoy that I took on one of my trips to the top of mt Washington. Thanks again for watching😀
Did Huntington Ravine a few years ago. Was alone on The Wall for 2 hours. There were seams of water coming through cracks of rock and my shoes kept getting wet. I slipped a few times - my heart was in my throat. Happy I did it but never again.
Hiked Huntington Ravine last week with my 14 yr old son. I’m in my late 40s. Huntington only requires stamina. It’s not that tough compared to Angel’s Landing in Zion NP or many of the Collegiate Peaks in CO. Trail up is fun and relatively short. Mainly bouldering with a couple short technical climbs. Will definitely do again. Took Tuckerman down. Pretty trail but really rocky. Tough on the knees. Great time hiking.
I enjoyed your video, it's been a few years now since I last hiked up Washington. I used to make it an annual experience. Looks like you had a beautiful day for it. The last time I hiked up I took a roundabout route up by going up the Glen Boulder trail and then continuing on to the top of the ridge, from there all I had to do was hike along the ridge until I got to the Tuckerman trail and continued to the top.
Hi Greg. Sounds like you have great memories of summoning Washington. Same here. I have videos of me summoning via lions head and boott spur as well. My favorite route up Washington is boott spur, thanks for watching!
I'm with you man. I hate heights and this scared me pretty good. I kept my composure but my heart was racing a few times. That being said it was pretty exhilarating but like you breathed a sigh of relief at that cairn.
2 summit signs. I have no problem with non-hikers getting a picture at the summit sign but I think hikers should get priority. At this point though, I just want my hotdog and head back down.
I took this hike in August with my father and friend, it was very hard but a cool experience. I would say that for a 14 year old I was pretty scared and found the slab the hardest part, but the views were beautiful. It was definitely worth the effort.
Hi Ran! I would agree that it was worth the effort and the views were amazing. Congratulations ran, you completed the hardest/most dangerous Hike on the east coast
The Comeback Kid I believe ten for far ? I took a stab at Madison and Adams last week but made a huge mistake bringing a new hiker and had to turn around at the hutt. Right now I’ve got Carrigan in my sights as well as a bonds traverse being planned. This is my first year trying the list I’m hoping to hit 24 by January. I live in Massachusetts so it’s an attainable goal in my mind.
This is a great video. I have 5 of the 48 done, and took some time off while my kids were little. Found a hiking buddy and cant wait to get back on the trail. What would you say the worst part about the ascent up Huntington would be? Thanks for the video.
AWesome video!! My wife and I will be just hiking down jewel trial! How will it be second week of September? We are from Florida and figure we can’t hike up though not just yet. We are usto flat lol thank you
Hi Michael. I’ve climbed Washington a bunch of times. In September, you “should” be good to go. I say should because, remember, my Washington and the white mountains in general have the worst weather arguably in the world and conditions can change on a dime. Be prepared and you’ll be good to go. Any sign of weather going sideways, start implementing your bail out plan. Thanks for watching pal!
Did Huntington last yr with my son (17yo). had done Tuckerman's previously as well as a number of others in the White Mts. Studied this one and upon leaving the house, as usual it was between this one or another (weather at trailhead determines). Chose this one and definitely one of the the most thrilling and THE best ascent we've done but never really felt the "Holy S#!*" that it's known for. Great to stand at the bottom of the headwall, look up and think "GO". Once the NH48 and Terrifying 25 are done, like to do this one again.
Awesome video! I've done all the NE67, but not have had the pleasure, or pain, of hiking Huntington, but hope to this year! Reminds me of Maine's Mount Katahdin Cathedral Trail!
When I climbed the Presidential Range in 1959 when I was at Kingswood Camp, Pike, NH, my camp counselor said Mt. Monroe was easy to spot because it had two humps.
@@TheComebackKid I did enjoy it. What really brought back memories is at the 25:08 mark showing the Lake of the Clouds with the hut beyond. I overnighted in the hut and washed my face and armpits in the lake the next morning. Definitely got my attention. Also, as this was 1959 when the counselor commented on Mt. Monroe's two humps no one missed the reference to Marilyn. I'm pretty sure few today got it.
@@PhlintheartGloomgold Glad to hear Polecat, sounds like you have great memories, glad my video helped you get back there for a bit. Thanks for watching!
The crazy thing was I hiked Washington on the very same day last year, but went up Tuckerman's Ravine! I'm from Ipswich, so also is a long ride for me too.
Hi Bigred! First off thanks for watching. That’s funny about the coincidence, small world right? If you’re feeling froggy some day give Huntington a shot. Just remember, once you start (in my opinion) there’s no going back. You’re either finishing or you’re calling for rescue. Thanks again for watching!
Hi bigred. I haven’t climbed Kathadin yet so I’m not sure of the comparison. I would tell you that two guys ahead of me had ropes and helmets etc,...I had a backpack 😃
Hi Jeff. I use two water systems. I use a camelback octane and I also carry a Sawyer squeeze water filtration device. Both are super easy to use. I have a review video on my camelback I use, you should check out and see if its a good option for you. Thanks for watching!
Hi magic. Make sure you watch my my Adams video, I climbed my Adams via king ravine last summer. You can see the difference for yourself. I would say the biggest difference is that the chemin des dames route is the shortest route to the top. Thanks for watching !
I think she’s talking about taking the King Ravine Trail all the way to the top, which is WAY harder than Chemin des Dames and some people say is scarier than Huntington Ravine
@@MardiFuller Hi Mardi, check out my other two videos, in one I climbed Chemin Des Dames, the other I climbed King ravine trail. Huntington was hands down the worst, a horror show but, I made it up alive. Thanks for watching.
Hi Riley, once you get on the slab above the fan, you are now committed to climbing to the top. Good luck, you can do it. Follow up with us after you summit Washington via Huntington to let us know you’re alive 😜
@@TheComebackKid thank you. I can definitely do it. My dad has already done it with a friend and said I’ll be fine. But I’ve also done king ravine, north Tripyramid slide, I’ve done Washington a few times and half way through the 48 - 22/48.
@@TheComebackKid just did Huntington and summited Washington then went down Tucks. It was not too bad. Little sketchy but not as bad as you made it look 😂

If steep is not too difficult for you you should try Ammonusic Ravine on the other side. You can take a break at the Lakes of the Clouds Hut.
Hi Beckie, great tips! Thanks for watching!
Well done.
Thanks for the video! I'm too old to climb (84) but I certainly do enjoy videos like yours. Makes me feel as if I'm out there with you. Thanks again!

An unbelievably clear day on Mt. Washington - not very many of those!
Hi Paul. It was an amazing day on the rock pile, I got lucky. Thanks for watching.
I was thinking the same thing, the wind wasn't bad either.
I have been to the top of mount Washington many times but always in my car. I am going to stick with the auto road. Great video!
