I don't think this needs to be subtitled, I think doing so would prioritize English rather than preserving the index of the original spoken language. This portrait of Augusta and her patch of forest is lovely, and made me a bit homesick. Thanks NFB for another beautiful shortdoc.
Seems like a nice woman, but she betrayed her people twice: By marrying a non-Indian and by embracing the religion of her conquerors. I'll never understand that. What a shame that their language was stolen from them, and that they're so passive about religion.
Betrayal is a harsh judgement to make on someone for whom they loved and what she believed. Surely she has the right to make those choices for herself? you cannot project your hatred and resentment onto someone else like that. She seems like a strong, tough woman who knew her own mind.
@@LuciThomasHardylover-qx6ts There's a lot of grey area when it comes to "choices." Women are easily manipulated by propaganda and social conditions (often manipulated). "My hatred?" It seems you're the one making harsh judgments here.
What a magical woman. Only if there was more people like that in this world. !!!!
She is principled and kind.

I got to spend time with here at Deep Creek, when I was a kid. She was a Incredible Person.
Excellent...!!!...just ... Excellent...!!! I just loved this documentary...🎬📽️
What a beautiful and truly amazing soul. I hope she's in heaven now with Sammy, speaking "Indian" to her savior.
