    I'm baffled at the repeated comments regarding the Duratrac's performance in snow. They're M+S and 3PMSF rated tires. They should be the best or right at the top for tires in that exact situation, yet half the video was spent talking about how they weren't made for those conditions and their performance was a surprise.

      3pmsf Snowflake symbol isn’t the same as a winter tire. Manufacturers can self-certify tires with this symbol so results can vary in the real world.
      I’ve had same 33” Duratracs on my F150 over this past winter in Colorado. In deep snow they are incredible, almost unstoppable! Best tires I’ve ever owned in this regard. Fear no blizzard!!
      But on wet, icy or snow packed roads, they are no better - actually probably worse - than any other tires I’ve had. Lateral traction in particular is outright terrible. Note mine are not studded because I want to use them year round.
      That’s because performance in those conditions comes from tire siping and silica in the compound. Dedicated winter tires have tons of each, that’s what makes them so good. But it’s also what makes the tire wear so poorly in dry and warm conditions, so no year-round tires have much of these features.

      @Matts000 4 роки тому

      Calvin Nelson I have a studded set on my truck right now, I can tell you they have no problem on ice and snow packed roads. Now is there a better ice tire out there that would perform better? Absolutely. But for a big 10 ply tire I don’t think you can go wrong. Just my opinion of course.

      4low helped me yesterday when I got stuck in sleepy Buffalo Montana 3inch snow. It dug in the snow until it found dirt then sling shot me on to the safer roads.

    You put it in 4 high with traction control off, go through it at little more speed you have no problem at all. Made it harder on himself putting it in 4low and going through so slow

      Maybe. That is heavy wet snow that is packed. A lot more slippery and heavy than it looks and that can really slow down any vehicle. Have this up here in Alaska right now since everything is warming in the day, freezing and night and then rain / snow mix once in a while. Very slick!
